Stonking episode…GV at his best. What a view from his NY apartment and a glimpse of Micha. But the highlight for me was the surprise at 2.55…I’m still laughing about it now.

  • I can really relate to that snow. Here in Finland it’s waist deep. Very beautiful but tricky to get around =)

This winter, NY has got nothing on DC!

Snow? That wasn’t snow! Let me show you snow!

CJ, I agree, love a ruby or zin port, Bogle makes an interesting Petite Syrah Port which is really good. http://www.winelx.com

  • CS, thanks for the suggestion. The last time it snowed here (in El Paso, TX), we worked on Jonesy Port from Australia. It’s imported by the Grateful Palate (who are awesome). At $12, it’s definitely worth picking up. Cheers!

    Because he can 🙂

OMG!!!!!!! Myriad (tons of) contracts have just been put out on your life by vignerons and francophiles for even mentioning Bud Light and Bordeaux in the same article let alone the same sentence 🙂 LOL

  • BFR1028

Only a very mild one this time

The title was totally penned by GV. But thanks Laurie!

  • I’ve got a few bottles left, maybe I’ll wait but they’re just so good right now. I tend to prefer “young” Bordeaux anyways 🙂

  • This is what I love about WLTV. Fun, but still a LEGIT wine show.

    QOTD: Port.

  • A couple wines from you home collection I assume?

  • Big_Al

You did pour the Pape into the Pichon…. was wondering if you would notice (good thing you did). Enjoy the wines with dinner.

  • Bad QPR. Pazzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

The greatest wine show on the planet! Without a doubt!

Nice of you to bring us back to your place. Great wines. Have always wanted to taste the Pichon, but will get there….

And yep you did mix the wine at about 8:20. *Oooops*
And be careful that you don't catch a cold, we can't have that.

Qotd: Probably an Amarone or something with a bit of alcohol kicking at the tail end…

  • Neil

But it's my birthday too GV, where's the shout-out? Favorite thing to drink in the snow…hmmm….two fingers of fair to middlin' scotch

  • GV! Awesome show! Definitely one of the best of 2010. How was the blend?

QOTD: Without any hesitation, a nice Ruby Port! Nothing warms you up quite like it. Cheers!!!

  • scottEJ

G, I haven't watched the show, but will tonight when I get home. I can totally see where you're going with it and want to give an early thanks for keeping it real.

Looking forward to seeing these two in action.

  • Weird audio problems at the begining…good the “meat” of the show was fine and very fun episode. Love spitting into the camera…

Good call on the cross-tasting…no doubt your palate is well honed. Misha looks to get more adorable and cute by the day.

QOTD: Hot chocolate with some peppermint schnapps…yummm nothing better on the ski slopes.

  • allanj

Yeah, where is global warming, when you need it… ; )

Gary you poured the Pichon for the first drink but the second pour you poured the Pessac. :O) Really loved the snow show, they are all awesome. I also loved the chat about how bordeaux is in between the big wines and the lighter. I have found over the years the same thing and have tended to lean toward the Rhones and the Bordeauxs for that reason. They really are in my opinion more drinkable and they glide over the palate and seem to have a silky component. I am a novice but have found that very same thing. Most memorable Bordeaux was my first and only visit to Peter Luger. Still dream of that night. :O) Misha is adorable God Bless her!

  • drt999

Okay, I'm impressed with the wine! Thanks for the 'snuax' show!

QOTD — hot chocolate, or vintage port

  • Gary, we don't get much snow in LA (we actually get NONE) but thinking back to my time in NY (CIA) and when in the snow – my memory and thoughts go to bubbly wines. How about the brut rosé like the amazing one from Iron Horse. Yup – Iron Horse Brut Rosé for the snow for me!

  • Cool_Dave

Well QOTD — If it realy snows here in Alabama in the the next 36 hrs I will either pop my 2006 ridge Geyserville or my 2003 Puygueraud Bordeaux or Waterbrook mélange rouge (cab franc based blend).
“Cool” show G.V. Love seeing little Misha. Love Bordeaux and drinking Poujeaux while watching.

  • Cool_Dave

Wow!! I bet it snows there !! Keep the wine cellar stocked before winter sets in. 🙂

  • I like the HULU sweatshirt. I first saw your wine episodes via HULU after watching an episode of Flash Forward. Boy am I glad I found it. WE're changing the wine world FOR SURE!

  • allanj

Good to see you again Cool_Dave…
    Ridge makes serious killer-wines!
    Paul Draper is a genius.

Good luck with whatever you POP ; )

  • K2G

Best drink on a cold day has got to be hot cider (with the spiced rum mixed in of course)

Big props for being able to tell something tasted different after unknowingly mixing the two wines

  • XpensiveWino

Hey, Captain Lightweight have another 😉 I do agree about the drinkablity of Bordeaux. It's the Bud Light of wine! I would have to put Barolo into that category as well. This show was awesome, thanks for braving the elements for us.

QOTD- Since it's always really cold and snowy here, or at least it seems to be, I have a lot to choose from. My go to would have to be Four Roses Single Barrel Bourbon, Vintage Port, or Madeira.

  • scotty b

    GV,

I think you meant 'Bordeaux in Sneaux'? Great episode. I don't think you doubled back on the wine. I wonder how these 95's tasted when they were released compared to now. Seems like your scores compared to the release scores didn't change much. I question the real value of holding onto these wines for so long, cuz it's sux to wait in general.

QOTD: No snow out here in southern CA.

  • johnfarrin

QOTD: Cali here GV. But where it does snow Bordeaux or California Cabernet is always good.

Misha is a cutie!!!!!!!!! AJ, not so much 🙂

  • allanj

Scotch rocks! but not on the rocks though… prefer it straight.

Yeah, an Ardbeg or Laphroaig ain't the worst thing in the world… : )

  • jenna35

    qotd-hot chocolate with whipped cream

    great view Gary!
