I always love when Sasha is the guest. The shows sort of get out of control and Gary is almost always uncomfortable. Priceless! As for the F. U. Shiraz, I bought a couple of bottles from Cindy so I hope to have one later this year and than save the other for a few more years.

As for Obama, I voted for him, but he is history in 2012.

QOTD: Wine Library is awesome, but the shipping department still needs work. I would like be able to see my futures orders and also all of my orders chronologically so I could find something I ordered a while back when I want to. Having said this, Brandon, KMurph, Ian and Jeff in shipping have all been awesome to me over the years. Good business starts with hiring good people and Wine Library clearly does that.

We need OZ on the thunder show!

  • Happy 4th! Great show. Love the Sasha episodes!

QotD: Franchise the business! Open a store in Brooklyn (preferably near our apartment!).

  • castello

Yes, enough styrofoam to cover the earth.

  • Hey Castello

Not sure what US slang is, but in Australia if you say F.U. you’re basically saying Fu@k you! Good name for a wine!

  • NY Pete

FU is FU is FU … 🙂

  • castello

I had forgotten about the board game fight. “Very third grade”! LMAO! One of many reasons I hate board games.

  • Nico

Great show and congrats on WLTV hitting 4.

As someone who buys from WL fairly frequently, I would like to see a rating function that would allow me to rate the wines I purchase and then be notified of wines that I may like or dislike given previous purchases. This would also provide WL feedback on what out-of-state consumers think of their products (e.g. the Santa Lucia Pinot was way overrated and disappointing). Also, to echo a previous comment, a way to recycle or reuse the foam packing would be great.

  • noahnoah

    Happy 4th anniversary Gary.

Love your dad, his episodes are the best.

  • Sasha rules! How can you NOT kiss that PUNUM!

$125 for a bottle of wine. Ugh, that fancy bottle of grape juice costs more than my Saturn right now. 😛

    Happy 4th!

  • lawrenceleichtman

When Sasha is on, I always forget what wine you are tasting. From a 4-year Vayniac congratulations on 4 years.

  • charlzee

Mott rules as much as sasha…I think a spin-off for sasha is in the future. Lets call it “A day in the life of Sasha” or something like that.

    We need a Mott Cam!!

QOTD: It's annoying waiting for the confirm email, I pick up at the store and sometimes want to go immediatelly after ordering.

  • SourGrapesFC

    like ants!

  • stewartl

great show. I loved Sasha's comment that he would have to cut off his finger if she didn't marry him!

  • One of the great all-time episodes! Gotta say it GV….Sasha always steals the show

  • Ted Ritter

This is definitely among my handful of favorite WLTV episodes to date. Having worked for Sasha and Gary back in the day and getting to know them for a few years, I can really see their true personalities coming through on this one. That's a hard thing to do in the media; you can't fake it. This is just they way they both are, so there's no act here. It was a pleasure to work for Sasha and Gary and I always enjoy seeing and talking to them. They also helped instill a lifelong appreciation of wine in me. Congrats on four years, guys!

  • cubs2806

Happy 4th Anniversary Gary And Sasha! Have been a fan for only a few months but have watched a lot of episodes. Keep up the good work.

  • cellarrat5

Speak the truth Mott! I might just register as an Independent next election, politics seem to be getting worse.

  • Phil G

Perfect anniversary show! Thanks to Gary, Sasha, Mott, and all the WLTV minions for 4 years of entertainment, education, and dedication.

USA v. Sweeden in the Gold Medal game – King Henrick is on fire…

QOTD – I'll be selfish and ask for free shipping, but I know that isn't feasable. Another compaint would be that the store is too far from my house to drive… (making the shipping relevent).

    Cheers!

  • The bottle shape reminds me of a Spanish wine called Habla….

    Sasha is da man… Where's the foot? ? ? ; )

That was my favourite moment in the epic ep. Great humour, great interaction between you guys, always fun to be a part of. Not sure about that Shiraz though… I think it might be a bit too heavy for me. Definitely on the money front. But also 16,3%…. OMG. You could probably use it for your car, like oil or something? ; )

Cheers to all of you Maniacs/Vayniacs.

I am not entierly sure what this proves, but it is a very interesting and random fact. I suppose it could be argued that this may partially prove that peoples spacial volume or weight recognition is better than Galton expected. I suppose this could disprove his theory of the massas being dumbasses, however I am weary of his scientific methods. I guess it was 1906 and they did not exactly have inteligence tests they could distribute at the Plymoth fair. Interesting none the less.

  • Just Jack

One of the all time greatest shows. Sasha rocks so hard it isn't even funny.

QOTD: **** SHIP TO NEVADA **** I know it is a state that has some restrictions and fees, but KL Wines and Wine.com ship here so it must be possible. I would be hitting Cinderella three times a week if you could get the lawyers to figure something out. I emailed info@winelibrary.com and got no response on this issue.

  • Well since I have your interest, the article goes on to say:
What Francis Galton discovered that day is the simple but powerful truth: under the right circumstances (an educated and experienced group), groups are remarkably intelligent, and are often smarter than the smartest people in them.

  • I’m moving toward independent status, myself. We have Rethugs, Demowimps, Teabaggers…time for a new following…The Tannins!

  • Anonymous

    Thanks….I’ll try that…!!!!!

  • John

Just started watching about 3 weeks ago, love the show, I'm a fan your Dad's great. Any shows where we see Mott? Went back and saw the old Cleveland Browns Stadium show, I'm a season ticket holder for the Brownies, I've already circled the Jets game this year.

  • cellarrat5

I refuse to believe that you would prefer WLTV to have NO guests due to your comments about Gary interrupting them and comments about his larger than life personality in general. It is YOU with a little bit of me, which would lead me to believe that the you part includes a great deal of his guests. Don?t get me wrong, I would like to see less random guests and perhaps more from the winemaking community. However, I think the show would risk becoming more one dimensional if Gary were to do away with guests entirely. Maybe I am way off base here, but if Gary did not want to have guests on the show, he wouldn?t.

  • legrec

Great show guys. Happy 4th. As for hockey, If Canada beats Germany tomorow they take Russia in the quater finals. So impossible to be second and third over all. One of them is out of the medals for sure.

QOTD: Continue your great show since I can't buy from canada. I could go to your store witch I certainly will soon. Can't bring back more than two bottles though.

  • cellarrat5

I would definatly agree with that. Under the correct circumstances with the right individuals groups can be an outstanding source of intellegence, cooperation and innovative ideads and solutions. Unfortunatly, these situations do not present themselves very often. But none the less, that was in interesting experament Galton did. Who knows, it could have sparked the idea for the modern day thinktank.

  • Happy 4th Anniversary WLTV! Thanks for everything. You have a very special relationship with your father. It's great to watch the two of you be so genuine together.

QOTD: Open a Wine Library East here on Long Island, and keep having quality guests on the show like Steve from Blues Clues! 😉 LOL!

  • Don Simpson

    MOTT!

  • Don Simpson

I would enjoy a translation! I am quite intrigued to know what this says!

  • dtocher

On febuary 21st, 2010 Martin Brodeur died of a stroke during the opening 30 seconds of the Canada vs. USA Olymipc hocky game. His death was not immediately noticed, and his corpse was allowed to stay in the net for the remainder of the game.

Luongo will perform. Gemany will fall. Our eyes are on Russia and Russia is SICK! Will be a good game.

GV. Thought you where coming to Vancouver for the Olympics.

  • adrums

Happy 4th! Great banter as always. QOTD: I don't generally groove on purchasing wines blind, but, I can't anyway… No WL shipping to WA state!
Keep up the great work, man.

  • Phredd3

Once a new show goes up, this episode needs to be favorited instead of the Parker thing. I'm just sayin'….

  • johnboston

A super value wine tasting in the future? — the 1.5L (and above!) — I know you've shown some econo-plays in the past and the showings have usually been a massive bummer, but maybe we could find something that's not alcoholic acid juice this time in the jug form.

  • kathyhughes

Total treat to have Sasha for the 4th Anniversary and his QOTD is perfect. My reply is : More Sasha ! Congratulations and best wishes for continued, superlative success, Naples Kathy aka Champagne Lady

  • Thank you for waht you do and wow, 4 years what an incredible accomplishment and what fun you have had while “crushing it”. Sasha is so wonderful, I really love the back and forth the 2 of you share.

QotD – 1. More regular appearances by Dad on WLTV. 2. More reviews of widely available QPR wines. 3. More hard cheeses from GL.

  • slave2thevine

What….only 326 crummy comments? What the hay?

  • slave2thevine

I seriously thought we'd see this reaching 500 by now

  • slave2thevine

I can't believe that there are THAT many lurkers not willing to make a simple comment

  • slave2thevine

I completely agree…get rid of that stuff!

  • johnr

One of the best shows in a few months!!! I know, its hard 🙂

  • thrawn1020

Fun Facts about Episode #1: There was a siren going off in the background during the first wine of the first show. Also, the wines in the first show were open for almost 6 hours. You should do more of that, even though I know that it was more of an accident of fate than anything. Do you still have that first video from the crappy camera, or did it totally break? That would be quite a find, 4 years out.

Seriously, congrats on the 4 years, and thank you. Between you and woot(shoutout!), I've learned quite a bit about wine in a very short period of time. Love the show, and I'm always sad when there isn't a new show on a weekday.

  • slave2thevine

    Spoken like a true diplomat…

  • waynoooo daaa winoooo

    YOU GOOOOOOOO MOTT !!!!!!!!! :o)

  • jjadamsfb

QOTD: I belive the winelibrary.com site needs to be revamped. After purchasing off both gourmet and wine, the purchasing experience, ease of use and general feel of gl.com was huge leeps and bounds better. A 2010 site versus a 1995 site in how I was able to move and find what I wanted.

  • Michael C in MKE

Happy to see the independents speaking out. I’m so done with the polarization of our political culture.

  • Trapezius

Sasha rocks! Great show. Congrats, let's hope for many more years of WLTV.

  • Gary, great 4th anniversary show, I love it!!! Your dad is awesome! I'm a Canadian boy, love hockey. Canada, Gold, USA Silver, Finland Bronze.
I sent you an e-mail last week, or two, it's about the great one, you might want to read it…
    Go Canada Go!
Oh ya! I'm a Leaf fan, with Brian Burke and Ron Wilson leading Team USA, I want them to do well.too, just not gold!

    thanks for the great shows!
