QotD: Medium rare for me. Joined the Crocker & Starr mailing list.

Hey GV. I have once again found myself buried in unwatched episodes of WLTV (13 to be exact). Thank goodness for shorter episodes! I hope all is well; you getting jazzed for March Madness? I'm crossing my fingers that my Irish make it in.

    QOTD: Medium rare. Every time.

    Keep it real.

    QOTD: Medium Rare

Great show Gary.I am a sommelier.Love watching you mate.I think the Pinot Noir wine you tasted should have less alcohol so it's body and elegance can come through more.Anyway thanks again.

BV doing me proud. They were my first Napa Cabernet love, and it's good to see that they're still making excellent wine. QOTD – Dry-aged, medium-rare, salt-pepper-oregano-olive oil, and a big, dirty Chilean Cabernet to go with it…just got chills thinking about it…

  • Love this show. Quick and to the point. I am totally intrigued by the Pinot. It's shows like this that keep me coming back for more.

QOTD – Depending on my mood….either Med Rare or Black & Blue

  • I had an 85 BV GL a few nights ago (second time I've had it). Not a blockbuster wine, but the amount of fruit left on it is quite something else.
I agree on the Crocker & Starr. Had it 4 or 5 months ago, and was stellar.

    QOTD: Medium rare, butter basted.

  • Good show as always Gary, couldn't agree more on the Crocker & Starr Cab, absolutely stellar wine. Rivals my all-time favorite CA Cab, D.R. Stephens 2001.

QOTD: bone-in NY Strip cooked medium rare, basted in garlic butter. Game over.

  • QOTD: Medium Rare!

  • robrx

CA rocks! It can compete with anything in the wine world.

QOTD= seared on the outside, raw on the inside. I usually order rare unless in a steak house, then agree with you Gary. Pittsburgh or B&B.

Go for the food & wine pairings. Many folks would find it valuable.

  • BrunelloLover

QOTD: I usually order my with an introduction: “With all apologies to the chef…” Well done. What can I say, I'm a sucker for carbon notes on the back end.

Medium well to Well done for me

  • Killer Cinderella wine deal today (Sun), first 3 pack deal I've seen. Are we going to get to see a show on those wines?? (PLEASE)

Some would say that’s ruining the meat, but what do they know, you’re entitled to do WHATEVER you want with your steak…..but be shure to look out for the food police, they might try and fine you.

Great show Gary. I just bought afew bottles of the Crocker and I have been on the Drew list for a while. I have been following them since they were a top 100 wine in Spectator a few years ago,

QOTD-depends on Steak. Ribeye has to be medium but most has to be rare.

Note-never did get my wrist band when I ordered two books. how do I go about getting that?

    Hello everyone

    QOTD: medium to medium rare

“My” PA store has the Crocker & Starr:

    Code: 15428
Description: Crocker & Starr Winery Cabernet Sauvignon Store Place 2005
    Size: 750 ML
    Price: $94.99

The show started all hyped for the big scoring wines. That's opposite of the “trust your own palate”, “don't follow scores”.

  • “I don't like mondays…. “

  • I,m new around these here parts. Has GV left the building? HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEeeeellllllllllllllllooooooooo!

  • waynoooo daaaaa winoooo

GV is Nowhere to be Found, We need NY Pete to send out the Search Squad…….. :o)

    GOOD show. Some Cally love!

    QOTD: Medium well.. .

  • waynoooo daaaaa winoooo

    I WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANTS MY WLTVeeeeeeeeeeeeeee !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • unclemeate

Would love to try the Crocker & Starr (sounds a little like Miami Vice) but at 95 bones here in PA, might hafta pass.

    AotD: Still MOO-ing.

  • Nice! Never seen a ratings spread before! Posting up Drew McDougall as 92-95…how hilarious. I'm now on their mailing list and hoping the bottle I buy beats the Vaynerchuk Vegas points spread! That's why we love the GV…always movin' and shakin' and innovatin'.

Nice punt play as well. And the 'food goggles'? Add Mott's 'wanted fresh breath' comment? And the ' I have to start working out cuz these bottles are getting heavy'? And the usage of 'blueberries' and 'police killers' in the same wine description? A 'USA' chant to close? Jeez, this is a close to instant classic episode.

qotd: rare….just one step about tartar, a flash searing on both sides, just enough to hear the quick raor of and send it my way with a bottle of California Cab. Hell, any of the insane wines from this episode would work wonders. This episode rocks it out!

  • Kayla28

Hope to see a show today!!!

  • sailorman

Me too, when does he post new show?

  • hokiewino

QOTD: Definitely medium rare, nice and pink in the middle.

Great show, this is going to be an instant classic!

(watch out for those heavy bottles Gary!)

  • Kayla28

I am not sure but I think he does about 4 to 5 shows a week.

  • Kayla28

    We miss u Gary!!!…Please give us a show today!…lol

  • sailorman

OK… With a little bit O luck, and a little bit O me….. we'll hopefully get a new one this time. Yepiiiii! Kayla28, keep ur spirits high!

  • Kayla28

We miss u Gary!!!…Please give us a show today!!

  • Don Simpson

Great show! I'm glad the Crocker & Starr was amazing @ 80 bones, wish I could afford that. I like your idea of giving more food/wine pairings during the Thunder Show.

    QOTD: Medium Rare

  • Phil G

    sounds good to me

    QOTD – medium

  • Nice job so glad you found something “native”. I think we all can use a little Cali Sunshine Freshness!!! U-S-A

QOTD: Don't eat steak I know its unamerican

  • bradzee

I confess to having been a lurker for some time. Forgive me. I am, otherwise, more or less a good person.

Motivated to comment not by the wines, but by the reference to Pittsburgh-Black-n-Blue steak.

To me: a perfect yet slightly disturbing combination of over and undercooked meat. A complexity.

    Simply: AWESOME!

  • johncannata

    Good show Gary. Go USA!

  • Come on Gary, It's extremely rarely that you like American

( or Aussie for that matter) wines.

Your palate lives in the Bordeaux – Loire -Burgundy regions.

Maybe a few select Rhones too.

    – nice to see to see that you finally recognize what Cali is bringing.

The 07 Napa I've had, have blown me away.+ Great deals

QOTD – Generic steak house – medium well everytime.

Do not trust enough to go rarer. Esp Morton's or Ruth's Chris

Game though, I will go seared on the outside, bloody in.

  • JayZee13

Great show! Wow! Impressive wines from your description. If the Crocker-Starr is as good as you and RP say, then at 80 bones, it knocks Shafer Hillside Select off the pedestal (Shafer being 215 bones per bottle!).

QOTD: I like my steak seared on the outside and medium-rare on the inside. Sprinkle some Gorgonzola on top and you've got a piece of heaven on Earth.

  • Braden G

Went on a mission to find some of the Crocker And Starr 2005 and SUCCEEDED! Found at a store here in Calgary for $75CAD!!!! Usually $80USD means we'll spend $150 here… I am excited to taste it and perhaps go clean out the store.

  • robertwb

    Beef Goggles.

  • cellarrat5

Finally! Some California love! Now all that needs to happen is get some other 2nd teer producers from CA on the show that bring thunder and the QPR riding shotgun.

QOTD: Medium Rare, but a good steak tar-tar is fantastic!!

  • Vineares

    QOTD : Medium rare booyyeeee

  • guest

Shonn Greene love yay! ( i live in iowa)

QOTD: medium rare usually, but rare is awesome if the steak is fantastic.

  • Looking forward to more food pairings!

    QOTD: Medium Rare

  • Dcrem1

QOTD: Medium but gonna try Pittsburgh.!!
