line of the day – ‘I just got mesmerised for a second’

The longest roll around in the mouth of any wine on wine library tv, it went on for ages I thought GV was fooling around, but as the comment of the day indicates, he was totally blown away by the last wine and as a result, the show was a corker

  • Just Jack

    hi

  • Great topic!

  • carlo10

    hello there

  • mattgmann

    Hey G,

It would be awesome if on Mondays….like today….you might throw out one or two wines you're going to taste later in the week.

  • carlo10

QOTD: I actually dont have a TV… so this is “my show”. its great. no commercials, mobile, entertaining, educational haha

  • Matti

First show I'm watching after a long-ish break from WLTV, looking good I must admit! Mott is bang on about Topgear, great show! Been trying to catch up with 24 now though, season 5 going strong!

  • Thursday

QOTD: It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia…
I need to laugh hard at least once a week.

Tasting the Beausejour was the longest I've ever seen you quiet!

Any chance of featuring some Cotes du Jour white wines… I'm intrigued, but have trouble getting my hands on them.

  • Really good show. Old school.

Yes, have had St. Emilion and am a fan.

QOTD: Breaking Bad. Best show on TV, no question. Season 3 starts on 3/21. Psyched.

  • cellarrat5

Gary's pallet is welcomed home and he looses his mind over another Bordeaux! I like shows like this, compact, serious wines and it is always great when GV is blown away by a wine. I have had a St. emilion; it was in Paris about this time last year, best vacation ever 5 country tour. Couldn?t tell you which Chateau for the life of me, I was not sober the entire trip.

QOTD: Dexter, Californication is a close second but it is very hard to compare the two. The season finally of Dexter blew my mind. John Lithgow is one of the most amazing villains I have ever had the pleasure of watching.

  • mattgmann

QOTD…. Slim pickins these days. But The Simpsons has been a pillar of my entertainment life for 20 years. Also the woman has me watching The Office.

When fall rolls around though, I will have “a show” It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia is the shit

  • cellarrat5

People keep telling me I need to watch this show. I had no Idea the father of Malcom in the Middle could act! What makes this show so good?

  • cellarrat5

Carlo my man, save the top spots of the day for someone else 😉

  • boomy13

    Nice show GV. Mad props.

QOTD 1: Yeah you know, I am CKC so never tried St. Emilion, but desperately want to.

QOTD 2: This student does watch much TV, too busy reading. However, I thought the new CEO show was fairly comical and interesting. As mentioned in the past, WLTV makes up for my TV time when I'm taking a break from the books.

  • I know, he does a great job. I'll warn you, during season one, his cough gets a little annoying at times, but they tone it down in season two. What makes it so great for me is the fact that he takes such pride in creating his product. I nerd out a bit with the little bit of chemistry. But the biggest thing is seeing all walks of life come together and it is just intense. Great characters.

  • Randinthecity

    GARY!!!

QOTD: Yes Recently had an excellent Chateau Pavie St. Emilion

    QOTD2: I rarely watch TV…HBO/cable has some good stuff…

    xo Great show…thank you.

  • drt999

QOTD sidebar — oh, heck yes, from St Emilion and the satellites.

QOTD — LOL — since the change over to digital, I haven't gotten any reception, so no tv for me! I'd rather spend $ on wine and books than cable

  • carlo10

    i am sorry…first time…i got a little excited. : )

  • Good start to the week.

    QOTD 1: yes
QOTD 2: Tosh.O is my current fav

  • I am a huge fan of St Emilion wines and I wish I could drink more of it. I have a few 2005 in the cellar and I look forward to opening them up one day.

I can't wait for Flash Forward to come back. I also really liked Kings ( i think that is what it was called) but I don't know if that show will come back on the air unfortunately.

  • cellarrat5

I think I will have to check it out. I'll download the first season
    when I get home. Thanks!

Sent from my NSA brain implant

  • carlo10

In your same boat! i did see the first episode (waste management i believe?) were any others good, and do you know if you can watch them online?

  • QOTD: The Burried Life. First MTV show that is actually the real deal and has some substance. If you haven't seen it, some of the episodes are really moving.

  • mattgmann

What about the original Real World? Is that show still on? Remember that dude Puck…wonder where he's bagging groceries these days. And that hot asian chick. I miss MTV………real MTV…….Kurt Loader, Celebrity Softball w/Dan Cortez, Headbangers Ball, and Yo MTV raps.

  • sQOTD: I had some St. Emilion's during my training, they were really nice. I am actually going French this summer and ride my bike through France: visit the Loire Valley and Bordeaux (especially Saint Emilion). Too bad I'm on my bike so I can't bring home any cases…

QOTD: I'm from the Netherlands, where we have these state-funded channels (and also commercial channels). On one of the state-funded channels, there's this show called (translated) In the footstep of the Beagle. There's a bunch of journalists, explorers and scientists, that are making the same voyage Charles Darwin did way back when. It's intruiging to see how we handle the planet… I'm sure we could be a lot greener…

  • zman15

QOTD 1: No. Just starting to get into french wine and have started my quest in Rhone but today's show may make me try a few St Emillion.

QOTD 2: House! No better show.

  • I'm totally with you!! Jura wines are special, intruiging, and oxidative (if that's proper English). Come on Gary, get us some nice bottles on that table of yours!!

  • Puck was the man. Everytime Kurt Loader came on MTV News, I used to always get so bored haha.

  • adrums

SIdeQ: Yeah, a couple. I've got a half case of '05 Barde Haut I'm pretty jazzed about, not to mention some Clos Fourtet…
QOTD: “Important Things” with Demetri Martin, and “Life and Time of Tim”.

  • ChicagoMatt

I'm excited to see more bordeaux in episodes. We're headed there for a few days this summer. Any suggestions as to where to visit? Would love some Vayniac feedback!

QOTD: Modern Family. Bringing back the family sitcom, but with a nice sarcastic angle.

  • Chill

QOTD: NCIS LA is favorite new show. Still love House and HIMYM…

  • QOTD: WLTV

  • I've been really into White Collar.

  • zrm

Solid there Gary! Getting excited for the 05 Bordeaux. Now i just need to make some baller cash to afford it. Grad school eats the budget fo sho.

    SIde QOD: DOn't think so
QOD: Chuck on NBC but I can't wait for Stargate Universe to come back in a month on Sci-Fi

  • garyleak

    The Pacific

  • DaveyJohnson

Nice show, I enjoyed it. Weird that the wine wine you hated was the only 100% merlot.

QOTD: 30 Rock and Modern Family. Both great shows

  • QOTD: If I could afford HBO I'd say Entourage, but with a sheepish grin I'll say How I Met Your Mother. Used to be 24, but Jack Bauer can only realistically save the world so many times until it just gets old.

  • robbymac

Hey GV! What are your thoughts on TJ out/LT in??

    QOTD #1 Not yet
    QOTD #2 Burn Notice

  • QOTD – As of late, White Collar has been my favorite show. Pretty disappointed with Jack Bauer so far this season. Hoping for a rally.

  • johncannata

    Modern Family is AWESOME!

  • mattgmann

    Yeah, WTF 24?

  • johncannata

solid show. Too bad about the middle wine, but at least you finished off strong. I dont think $85 is too much for a bottle of great wine.

QOTD – Has to be Modern Family (although I like a lot of late night shows… Chuck, How I Met Your Mother, The Office, The Middle). Fav has to be Moder Family though. SO FREAKIN FUNNY!

  • Visiting Bordeaux in september, hope to visit a couple of vinyards, have one invetation to one really good. Got a couple of different 2005 in my possession.
So, why not spend 85 bones on a wine? I don't have any hesitation to pay that for a good product no matter what it is. And I'm not rich, just picky 😀
    Thursday action? Monday miss?
    Side OTOD: Yes
QOTD: MOTT, Top Gear, the BBC version yes? Well that's the best car show on earth so… other than that I laugh my … of to 2½ men. That's all except for the news. Must keep up with the world when you are living in a small country.

  • espressokev

probably the mentalist. it reminds me so much of “the pretender” before it got weird.

  • priuslover59

Curious, who drinks the leftover bottles?

  • Allan

Great show Gary. St. Emilion is great. Forget Sideways, Ok?

SideQotd: Angelus 1999 two times. Nice & Nice. But… Not worth the money though..

Qotd: Always watching the Daily Show (You need to have Jon Stewart on your show!!!)

Mott!!!!! Top Gear rules!!!! I knew you were the man!!!

Gossip Girl, Gary! hopefully you joking….. ; ) LOL & Cheers to all the maniacs. Damn you Carlo!

  • angelatcarlson

We have a number of St. Emillions at work. However, we haven't had any recently and I'm not remembering how many, if any we've tasted yet. They are on the List since I need more palate education when it comes to Bordeaux.

  • Julian Hoffmann

I watch the new HBO show how to make it in America. I think it's fun to watch how two guys with a dream and passion make their own luck … coming from Europe this is a thing that fascinates me about this country. There are so many entrepreneurs in the states and people look up to them. When I tell someone in Germany im starting something people tend to think that it's not gonna work out anyways .. so why waste your time .. just get a job… I dont like that attitude… anyways..
