line of the day – ‘I just got mesmerised for a second’

The longest roll around in the mouth of any wine on wine library tv, it went on for ages I thought GV was fooling around, but as the comment of the day indicates, he was totally blown away by the last wine and as a result, the show was a corker

    QOTD #1: Lots! Thank you for reccommending the 2004 Duffau with a 94 (ep. #331). At $36.58 that appears to be a whole lot better QPR. Anxious to taste it next year!

    QOTD #2: Mentalist

  • NY Pete

    What a nice episode, Gary!
    Just found this nice Galius St. Emillion Grand Cru 2002 at my local supermarked for 15 dollars and I am absolutely pumped. It's one of the best wines I have ever had in this price range.
    Favorite tv show must be the Daily show.

    QOTD: White Collar. Stoked for the second season coming up this summer!
    Top Gear is awesome as well, and they should be back with a new season in June/July.

    QOTD1 – Not a fan of St Emilion, which is probably a good thing given its usual high price. I did buy some 2005 at a great discount though (my daughter's birth year) and hoping that my palate changes or she enjoys it when she is old enough to drink wine (havent decided when that is)

    QOTD2 – Only show I watch religously is “The Amazing Race”

  • Neil

    QOTD 1: Love St Emilion
    QOTD 2: Lost (old) Fringe & V (New). Regarding Lost, I always thought they should have Gary V in a hatch (like Desmond) doing a wine tasing every 108 minutes……………

  • SQOTD: I've had St. Emilion before, though nothing to get one's knickers in a knot over though.
    QOTD: Can't saw I watch much.

  • Roberto Rojas

    Great show!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm BAAAAAAAACKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK…. long layoff, but stayed in touch.

    Actually only watch Curb your Enthusiasm, and the Dolphins.

  • Ilya

    Hey Gary, great show. Ive been watching since I was 19 and I just turned 21 on the 13th of March. My first wine was a German Riesling Saptlese that was really tasty. I would love to see a show for first time wine drinkers. Keep up the good work.

    QOTD: Friday Night Lights

  • My favorite TV show is Eureka on the SiFi channel. Stargate universe is not bad either and then modern marvels, always something fun there! Last be not least, Triple D, Diners Drive ins and Dives!
    Never had a St Emilion before, still quite new at this. I just found a high end wine shop in a place called Rochester Hills here in Michigan, so there is a place where I can get all these wines locally here that you have on the show. 40-80 bucks, that?s a lot of shooting, we?ll see.

  • guymandude

    Surprised you are baby killing those 05's, but I do like the St. Elmo's as well.

    qotd; Don't really watch reg t.v. so I'll say WLTV!

    How do I get a sticker?

    Gary= Real

  • Allan

    Mott = Cool

    Gary = Uncool

    LOL

  • Great show…love the little shout outs thru out the show!!

    QOTD: Yes I have had Ch Dassault St. Emilion I think it was an 05 enjoyed it but did make note to buy. I prefer more Cab so the Left Bank is where I stay mostly.

    QOTD: Still a fan of Jack Bauer -24 is my favorite!!

  • DYING TO TRY THE BEAUSEJOUR.

    Side QOTD: Not in a long, long time!
    QOTD: Better off Ted, and you're not gonna believe this since we're in a VAST minority; Gossip Girl. Hahahaha.

    But nice show. Never had any 05 Bordeaux except for a really nasty St Julien, so maybe it's time (if I can afford it) to try some.

    Cheers!

  • Juan

    QOTD: Not really a frequent tv watcher, i can sometimes go days without watching any tv, but for the QOTD sakes, i like to watch the young turks youtube vids.

  • dominickmack

    QOTD – Gossip Girl and How I Met Your Mother.

    BY THE WAY, GARY – IT WAS NEW LAST WEEK!

  • Lyman

    Top Chef, still 24, HBO's Pacific, and not much else.

  • erikwait

    QOTD: I had a 1990 Château Pavie Saint-Emilion during the holidays.

    For anybody who is curious, if Chateau Lynsolence is a 2 hectare winery they have only 4.94210762 acres.

    “Adventures in Wine Tasting”

  • Funny that you didn't like the 2nd wine. When you were pouring the wine, I didn't like the color at all. I thought there was too much brown in it. Just saying. Never tried a St. Emilion.

    Mott= Komodo Dragon
    Gary= Kumquat

    QOTD: The Daily Show, The Venture Bros.

  • i've seen other wine shows and indeed, this is indeed the best f'ing wine show ever (although I can be quite critical of it at times as well, but that's just me keepin' it real….). I haven't had the Emi's in awhile due to new budget constraints (bought a sweet ride and stuff…), but this episode resurrected the thirst for it again….

    QOTD: none, I watch myself live my life and do the things I do (but once in awhile, I do watch the office because I had a German boss who was just like Michael Scott, but not as likable….actually, I hated his f'ing ass…)

  • Vay-ku

    Bordeaux like Tyson:
    Bite-your-ear-off, rusty nail.
    But wait…the “Real Deal.”

    QOTD 1: Had a Ch. Belregard-Figeac '03 and Ch. de Ferrand '00. Both nice….
    QOTD 2: I'm still hooked on House. It's still not sarcoidosis.

  • winecrazy

    81……nice!!!!!!

  • Joe

    Yes I drink St. Emilion at least once a month. Among my favorites are La Bienfaisance, Sansonnet, Grand Mayne and my go to wine Chateau Lucia which you should taste and let us know what you think about this value. I got a couple of cases of 2004 for 25/bottle.

  • waynoooo daaaaa winoooo

    QOTDside: Looooovz St. Emilion !!! In fact, think I'll crack-out a 2004 Chateau
    Pipeau tanight……

    QOTD: Favorite “TV Show”??? Don't Got NONE…… Likes me Fox News Channel,
    Local News & Sports. Gettin' PSYYYYCHHED for MARCH MADNESS, OOOOH YEEAAH !!!!!!

  • First time watching one of your episodes. Enjoyed it! Love your book Crush It! Comment about Gossip Girl at the end sealed the deal!

  • QOTD: Two words – MAD MEN!

    Mott = Who is the man who can cam over any man? MOTT! Can you dig it?
    Gary = Who's wine show has a host unlike any show? That's right…Gary's.

    GARY = Energiiiiiiizeeerrrr Buuuunnyyyyyy !!!! :o)

  • DAveAll

    I don't like the Merlot grape much, but have had these in France, where they are cheaper (minus the plane ticket) – the addition of Cab Franc helps me like them a little more.
    QOTD: Big Bang Theory, Numbers, Mentalist, House, Lost, Grey's Anatomy, 30 Rock and Craig Ferguson late late show. I Tivo these and watch nothing else. That's enough TV time each week. smile.

  • TimF

    I knew my name was going to get thrown out there. Thx for the left-handed shoutout.

  • maxinvegas

    @Garyvee I continue to love the boxing quotes! In addition to bringing and supporting the right bank style of merlot. How about a show featuring merlots from Cali that are made in that style? I have a QOTD for you: What do you think of Holyfield fighting April 10 here in Vegas?
    I'm quite puzzled being an old school boxing fan like you.

  • LEATHER TO THE HIZZEELMET

    New for me Fox Football Phone IN.

  • Hey Gary

    Nice show. I like St Emilion, but don't drink much. Basically Bordeaux is just too over priced in Asia, even in Hong Kong were were is much better value than most places.

    QOTD: Just waiting for the new series of Dr Who…

    Cheers
    Andrew

  • TimF

    Mott = Tough guy

    Gary = Sissy

  • stevo

    Mott, where were you with the camera and the Jets jersey when GV kept saying “85 bones” for the last wine?

    QOTD – 30 Rock

    QOTD (side) – I've had St. Emilion and bought a mixed case of the 2005s back in the day when you first told the Vaynernation to buy 2005 Bordeaux.

  • pawncop

    Good episode, and as you point out I will probably not try these wines as they are not available in my little area of Texas. Still I want to know what is out there should I get the opportunity to acquire them.

    QOTD (side) – I have had a St. Emilion but cannot recall the winery. I will revisit this wine.

    QOTD – NOt much of a TV watcher. Spend much more time on the computer with other sites.

  • That a baby… right bank!!! Now on to Pomerol…

    QOTD1: Have only had in wine shop tastings… the good ones are usually out of my $$ range, but I've found a local retailer who has the Grand Murailles, so I may pick that up…

    QOTD2: Too much, but LOST is the must-see right now…

  • This is exactly why I love Bordeaux so much…that is all

    QOTD: Big Bang Theory, Ghost Whisperer, CSI, Holmes On Homes

  • eastcoastchris

    When I studied abroad in France, I road-tripped it out to Bordeaux. We visited St. Emilion and I saw stone walls and vineyard plots that were 1300 years old. It's crazy to contemplate now as someone who works in the wine idustry… Maybe stumbling into that gem of a village when I was 19 led me to where I'm at today.
    Remeniscing aside, I'm a huge fan of Merlot… love the right bank, a whole lot of respect goes to Walla Walla, too for the things they do with the grape.
    Good show

  • Tony S

    QOTD: Tied between “Caprica” and “Burn Notice”

  • Paul A

    QOTD: Modern Family…a true pleasure that does not require me to have to think…at all!
