fantastic show! waiting for part 2. LHP46 – thanks for the tip on the book, will definitely check it out.

  • Darrin

great clip…I spent a number of years selling KLWM wines and Kermit's approach and others that “got it” completely changed how I approached wine. Love it – can't wait for part two! 🙂

Wow. What a great episode. I loved it ! I enjoy the shows daily but when I heard that Kermit Lynch was coming on, I was thrilled. And here is a strange one and I promise its true. Just last night after watching the Gamay episode, I went on iTunes looking for some audio podcasts on wine. I came across an interview with Kermit Lynch and downloaded it. I did a search for him and got another couple of pieces. Literally after that, I saw on Twitter that he is going to be on the show. Fate or what ? I am a big fan as I regard his incredible book “Adventures On The Wine Route” to be not only one of the best wine book I have ever read, its also once of the best books, full stop. I bought his other book recently and look forward to reading it.

The episode seemed to fly by. Thats always a great sign. Sometimes when you get a picture in your head of someone you admire, it can be disappointing when you eventually get to see them interviewed. Not so here. Kermit Lynch is so impressive. A really interesting, charismatic intelligent person. Its people like him (and you GV) that inspired me to move into the wine trade. I cannot wait for the next part. Superb job. Simply superb GV

  • Loved “Reflections of a Wine Merchant” and Kermit Lynch's philosophy! Keep on keepin' ON!

Interesting, does the process or culture of wine making interest you? Do you find it is good socio-cultural knowledge to have? Or is Gary so damn good he just sucks you in?

  • corkscrew

For some reason I thought this guy was young.. guess not. Like allot of this wine imports. http://www.winelx.com

  • I had a friend whose family grew their own grapes and made wine in the basement. It was the only wine I ever liked or drank. It also had no effect on me (and I can’t drink) but it knocked my boyfriends off their feet. Fun stuff. I have never drank wine after that and developed an aversion to it. Nonetheless living in NYC wine drinking is a big deal and I would like to speak about it intelligently and someday hope to at least tolerate it. Also Gary is fun…and all that spitting can’t be beat.

  • mattgmann

    we're vayniacs……not DCaragheracs.

  • Nicely timed cliff hanger at the end. A twist in the story and there is betrayal! Can't wait for tomorrow's episode. Well played.

  • JaegerFruitBomb

Talk about a cliffhanger right at the end of the tape…can't wait for part II! We must hear this story of betrayal.

  • Good so far.

  • DCaragher

Right you are my man…needless to say check out CORK'D, you don't need to read my review, but check out what other people are writing!

    Mott Rules!!!!!!! ; )

    YEEEEEEEEHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWW!!!! sorry waynoooo

  • orangebottle

    Ray,
Yeah, Kermit Lynch has this Berkeley lay-back wine scene going on. Many times they?ll have food and music to go with tasting, fun plus expanding the palette. It's like the lay-back couch Fridays….
wine is not tension and knife. 🙁

  • jenna35

how did they betray you Kermit?
at least it isn't a cliffhanger Friday

    Hi Gary,
A long term lurker here, I wonder how many you have in England? Anyway, I had to come out of the woodwork and comment as your shows this week have been excellent, the most fun and informative shows for a while, indeed I nearly tuned out after that series of brown bag shows. Great Guests, interesting info, cliffhanger… I am hooked. Andy, The Bottle Top, Oxford

Ha! Dallas! I hope at the end GV isn’t in the shower and we find out it’s all a dream.

  • tooch

  • No Gary, the best defence is sometimes offence 🙂

“and all that spitting can’t be beat”

You should check out the tobacco festival in Ripley Ohio. More spittin’ than the 86 Kansas City Royals.

He took her $5k and ran.

Chalkboard requires more than $$. You need street cred and possibly two turn tables and a microphone.

    Florida winery? Juicing gators?

  • jonomck

    That is just cruel!!!!!

  • I don't drink at all but always appreciate what I learn here. Someday I hope it will all kick in and I'll impress my friends at dinner with my fantastic knowledge of the grape.

  • Cy

Hey Gary, GREAT show with Kermit!

  • NY Pete

bringing some serious thunder dude! WTG!

  • screaminglunatic

Now this was pretty cool, btw how do i get my name on the chalkboard? That is some prime real estate, im willing to pay by giving you some of my precious time 😛

  • Tom S

    Gary,

That was just cruel! How could you break up this episode????

Kermit is a giant. I read Adventures on the Wine Route in a tent in the Indian Peaks National Forest in CO. I was a wine drinker before the book, but the book kick started my passion for wine, and wine that is truly artisinal. I trust any wine with his name on the back. Same goes for Neal Rosenthal, and it is not surprising that Neal distributed for Kermit.

Well done on a great guest. I can't wait for tomorrow!

  • I'm diggin' on the Kermit, cool ep so far. I'd prefer if we just got these as one long ep and let the audience decide if they want to split it up into a two parter or what not. But as far as cutting goes, you chose a good spot to create a cliffhanger with.

  • You knocked it out of the park by scoring Kermit, Gary! Great job!

  • Allan

You could start by bringing some comments-thunder…… ; )

Mr. Burns will eventually make it to the chalkboard……. i hope 🙂

  • Allan

    Thnx!

  • Allan

Whatever happend to Miss Piggy??? ; )

  • jjadamsfb

WTF!?! Who does that. Great episode, but making us wait til tomorrow is cruel and unusual punishment. More Kermit please.

  • ERog

Great episode, Gary. I can hardly take the suspense! This has to be one of the greatest episodes of all time. I can't wait to see the conclusion.

  • Thomas Fertel

Heart's for Drew? Gary V. is a Drew Brees fan, I KNEW IT!

    Who Dat….
