  • No marketing, just getting pumped for the PARTY!

  • And u wont be hearing that much 🙂

  • Randall

You said it, winecrazy!! To this very day, I don’t buy any Exxon gas… not because they let a chronic drunk pilot their 50 gazillion ton oil tanker and crash it, ruining our West Coast, but because of their horrendous “We own America, so don’t you dare try and force us to clean up our own mess” attitude!! They’re STILL fighting the clean up and law suits TODAY!!
    p.s. Mmmm… T Vines Petite…

  • Randall

    Because he’s a hater… 😉
    That’s right… I’m still on board w/ your crusade, baby!! 🙂

  • Randall

What beers? Hitano? Cucapa? And what city… SF?

  • Randall

It was “touch and go” for a while there, but we made it!!

QOTD: Actually drank a little beer for a change this weekend. Full Sails LTD is a really tasty full bodied wheat…not my normal fare for beer…but it was one tasty cold beer for the 100+ weather we've been having!

  • John__J

  • DAveAll

marketing hype was 50% of show. hmm. of the many that watch only a few will be at the party. hmm. ok, I'm jealous. hahaha. Best wishes, but I fear until July 13th or later, we will hear about this A LOT! Remember, over deliver, don't over sell.
QOTD: white wines. No reds until mid-June.. gotta focus, ya know.

  • Cubatobaco (Ray)

Thank you for touching on the details of the party. I am really looking forward to meeting A LOT of you guys! And it will be nice to also meet GV…j/k..lol

I'm not a huge SB drinker and still enjoyed learning about some wines that I have not yet had the opportunity to try. I might give the Cloudy Bay a chance this week.

Brown Bags are the shizzy, my man! Let's mix it up and get K-Murph to trick you this week. Bring the Thunder!

QOTD: Had an '03 S. Orsola Barolo that was not good at all! Very dry and tasteless. I'm still contemplating on what I'm bringing to the party.

  • castello

WOW! Bringing the Thunder! Great show. we missed your silly ass!
QOTD: I went tasting at DeRose near Holister Ca. for some dry farmed big ass REDS!
I may bring some DeRose Negrette.
Welcome back. I was gonna drive my rv from Cali but now I'm thinking I'll fly into the Big ass apple! Can I get a decent deal on a flight?

  • Cubatobaco (Ray)

    WE'RE BACK!!!!

  • Cubatobaco (Ray)

GV – Good looks on hitting me back on AIM and Twitter. I know you were having trouble with AIM. Thanks for the Pinot Gris recommendation which I will get to tomorrow. A little under the weather today.

  • waynooo daaa wino

Yo Ray, GREEAAAT ta be outta “Rehab”……….. ;O)

  • Cubatobaco (Ray)

    Amen! ; )

  • Cubatobaco (Ray)

I'm guessing we should fly into Newark?

  • njc2o

    OMFG THE THUNDERSHOW WOOOOO

  • I wish I could attend your WLTV mega-party.

QOTD: we're doing a beer sampling session this week with imports we found all over the city, beers that are not regularly found around these parts like chocolate stout, maple beer, Japanese beer, a few mini breweries from Mexico, etc, about 12 different brands. hopefully.

  • This weekend I drunk a white Méo Camuzet (article at my wineblog: http://vino-sophy.blogspot.com), which blew my freaking mind and a Ripasso from Tedeschi which was alright. Anyone experience with Méo??

  • Very excited. Going to the NYC part of the party and the LIRR shall be my chariot. 😛

QOTD: Bringing 2 sparkling wines to the party. One red, one white.
QOTD2: This weekend I was drinking a frozen Kaluha masterpiece my friend created while watching season 3 of the Venture Bros. Oh God, divine!

  • johnfasc

i can't believe i'm going to miss the 7/10 bash.

    QOTD: was drinking CDP telegramme.

  • guymandude

Wow, great to see you back.
Unfortunately can't attend the party ,just ship me one of every bottle you guys try and I'll feel like I was there.

  • winecrazy

OH!!!!!!! The old cloudy bay days……I used to drink the pinot all the time at the bar in Mortons in Atlantic City before they gave me my wine locker. Needless to say I don't drink that anymore…lol

So…. no explanation about why no shows all week…..hmmmm…..!!!!! OK. And yes, I agree….the pics of animals suffering and dying that BP is responsible for not only makes me sick. I will never buy any BP gas as long as I live even if I'm broke down in the middle of the desert…….. F*** BP!!!!!!!! There is absolutley no reason a company lilke that spending that much money and taking this much time can't fix the problem.

QOTD: I would love to come to dinner and parties and all that jazz but as you know I have to head to the shore. But…..say I happen to drink too much at the WL….well, if that happens and I can't drive, then of course I would bring a pahlmeyer and a turley, and maybe a T vines… 🙂

  • Robby Mac

QOTD: '03 Cliff Lede Stag's Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon, Rippin' my face off….still!

  • Steve_r_vb

Great to have you back gary. Interesting that you chose sav blancs to start your week off, kinda like you are warming up the old pallet. Gotta love the dj jazzy jeff and the fresh prince of bel air refference. I am stoked for July 10th cant wait to try some different crazy stuff and meet some awesome people. To quote The Iron Sheik “I will crush you” in bubble hockey gary.

  • Steve_r_vb

    and you know it.

  • Nice show. Good to have you back Gary.

QOTD: Drank some Cindy Pientranera Barolo over weekend. In for 7/10… from Cincinnati…bringing a “45 Petrus…well no, not really…. will prob pick up a bottle at WL for the big NYC open house. – Ivan

  • Edward Salonia

Glad to see you back GV. Thanks for another show. I like the solo shows better, I feel like there have been too many guests as of late, no big deal though.

QOTD: '05 Emilio Moro Malleolus De Sancho Martin

  • castello

Not so sure. If I stay in the city then?? I'll be away from computer for a while but get back in touch next week.

  • NY Pete

i'll kick your ass in bubble hockey.

  • Not going to lie… a little surprised at the lack of talk about the absence. Oh well. No worries.

QOTD: 2002 Ristow. Real tasty and youthful, just not completely my style.

  • pawncop

It is so very good to see you back doing what you do best and what I really appreciate, evaluating wines and sharing your knowledge.

I will will not be able to join with others in July, I sorely wish I could but it is not to be.

I appreciate your evaluation of the Marlborough style Sauvignon Blanc, as that IS my very favorite style of wine overall.

I will look for the Rochioli to compare, but I have made many comparisons with my limited resources and still the Marlborough SB is my favorite.

I hope that all attending your event have a grand time, and you have the grandest time of all, and your expectations are exceeded. I will be with you all in spirit but will be on duty in the ER at my hospital caring for those that need our combined strength and knowledge tp ease their fears and sooth their hurts.

Drink a glass for me if you will. I will be thinking of y'all (translation – you all) during this time of celebration.

  • hinrgman

I see people are still playing the 1st game here!!!!

  • Isn't it pronounced Row..chioli? QOTD: In Bandon for the new golf course! Walter Hansel Alyce Chard 07!!!, Etude Pinot Noir, Beringer Reserve Cab 01!!!, Montelena Cab 00!!, Rombauer Chard 07!!, Shafer Hillside 03!!!, Insignia 01!!!, Leonetti Cab 01!!!…Raincheck for THE party..:(

  • WineWoman

QOTD: Yes to brown paper bags!! I tried a Cindy? Altitude 1050 Malbec, sweet, jammy , blueberry syrupy pie notes. Paired with marinated London Broil. Probably would have liked to do the dessert riesling with red meat(steak) pairing instead. Also a delicious 2007 St. Chapelle Arnoux Vacqueyras(11 bones)unfiltered, medium-bodied , well-balanced, dark-cherry, blueberry, blackberry fruit for days.

  • MooseSox

QOTD: I had some bubbles this weekend, of the beer variety. Went to SAVOR DC, where 70+ craft beer makers bring two beers each and there are two food pairings to go along with it. Awesome time.

Unfortunately, it looks like I'll be making my maiden voyage to the Wine Library mothership exactly one month early for the party. My wife and I are coming up from DC to go to a wedding in New England, and we're going to stop in this Thursday and see the place that has been filling up our basement quite nicely for the last half a year. I'm excited to maybe meet one of the faces I've seen on this side of the video link.

  • romtina

Hm, not sure if I'll be able to make the party in July… It certainly is tempting…
QOTD: Just finished a 2006 Boutari Naoussa made from the Xinomavro grape from Greece. I loved it! Especially with all the Greek-inspired food I cooked up this past WE… And especially after I went to a wine class where they really dissed Greek wines…
But for next WE I am getting into my stash of South African wines just in time for the FIFA world cup!!!

  • murso

thanks fer comin back! Brown bags are good!

QotD – It's gettin' hot here! Cold Latin American and/or quality Euro pils/lagers. Picpoul de Pinet, Ugni blanc Gascogny blends, and other clean, stainless refreshers. Occasional good Cab/Bordeaux @ dinner, last week, was 2005 Laurel Glen Counterpoint w/ Lamb Kebob over Basmati.

Can't bring to the party, already had travel plans made, but I hope one of these times!

And I'm not flying w/ any wine anymore. Since the '70's, they'd broke my bottles in my carefully packed luggage 3 times. In recent years, I was tremendously hassled, prevented from carrying on, and HUGELY put out to make several trips back to the airport to have my very expensive (classified growth, in Magnum!) returned to me. Wine may be purchased at my destinations from now on.

  • murso

I really liked Bruno Ristow's Cabs. His winemaker was Pam Starr, till around that period, if I recall correctly. Whoever he's got now, I'm confident that his track record will continue in a highly gratifying tradition! Cheers!

  • Brunellofello

Hey Gary, glad you are back. QOTD: I had a 05 Ghost Block cab and a 04 La Gerla brunello this weekend. I booked airfare from Raleigh a few days ago, so I will be there the 10th. I think I want to buy a 01 Altesino riserva brunello for the night in NY. FYI: I am officially changing my WLTV name from Craig Hamlet to Brunellofello.

  • murso

I was trying to take it to my dad's 80th b-day party w/ all sibling present for the 1st time in like, 10 years. It was my most special bottle. lost that opporunity, and still holding/ hoping for sibs to all get here, now that I'd moved near 'rents.

  • JiminAtlanta

I was in Indiana on the weekend and got to try some southern Indiana wines. They were pretty good. I probably will not make it to the big party, but it sounds fantastic.
