  • Love the roses!

  • Kie Wilcox

Great episode liked the diversity of regions.. can’t wait to try some Bandol Mouvedre too.

QOTD: I love you Man… classic scenes on the golf course and open houses but does a 180 half way thru.

  • romtina

Had some nice roses from VA, but I really love the ones from Provence…
QOTD: “The time traveler’s wife”. I was cautious at first, then was somewhat intrigued by the idea behind it, about halfway through I just totally hated where that movie was going…

  • castello

    1st!

  • philoxera

    I had a Rosé once…..she was a nice girl

  • mattgmann

i hope there are some good ones in this batch

qotd: Funny people. 90 minutes of genius….to bad it's like 3 hours long.

  • castello

Crazy Heart with Jeff Bridges should have been way shorter.
    Good job on the Rose'

  • QOTD: not sure which movie I last watched that just lost it in the second half… I guess I will go with: An Inconvenient Truth

  • jason carey

    Great Roses From Cali
    Donkey and Goat
    Quivira
    Etude..
    From France
    Clos Roche Blanche
    Baudry
    Soucherie

  • ONUMello

I do enjoy this 'classic' format a lot- be sure to keep up the blinds but w/ >2 wines, and don't forget the laid back friday couch!
QOTD: Probably Mission Impossible- I like the whole movie overall, but for some reason I usually just watch the first half through the CIA break in, then skip the train chase at the end.

Crisp show with a hint of Mott (Good thing)

I love the “new” Gary! Thanks for pulling out Rosé, which i think has an undeserved reputation of being a girls drink. The world in general needs to get back to basics.

Qotd: hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm…. The Godfather part 3?

    Cheers!

    Take that Al Gore!!!! 🙂

    hey hey

  • Great show Gary! Found a couple of very good Rose's as well – Corail from Château de Roquefort for instance. Just bought a German “Rotling”, a real mix of red and white wine.

So glad I watched this Rose episode Gary. I too have been wanting to find a good rose because of all the mad hype. So this weekend i bought a 2009 rose Whispering Angel from Provence. It was fine, but didn't blow my mind or anything for the price, around $24.

In response to your question of the day, I'd say most recently the movie “Up in the Air.” Sorry George Clooney!

Hope you are doing well. We need to talk business soon. Okay?
    Thank you!

Say it like you mean it!

  • CharlieTN

“I like the zone we're hitting”: That's what she said.

QOTD: Magnolia. First hour was really cool, then it started dragging, then it started to make less and less sense, and by the end (like 3.5 hrs later) I didn't give a rat's ass that frogs were raining from the sky.

  • drt999

QOTD — can't think of one off hand

Of all the pinks in the store, you could have found much better, I'm sure. And while I love pinks from the south of France, I think Bandol is overpriced if not overrated

  • DCaragher

GV – Great show, kickin' old school! I am big into Roses and glad you addressed the matter! Ironically enough I wrote a CORK'D review about a rose and referenced Will Smith a while back…here's the link:

    http://content.corkd.com/2010/05/13/rockin%e2%8

Also, check out the Domaine La Suffrene Rose which is great!

QOTD: I just saw “Moon” and I wasn't that pumped about the ending! I was hoping the movie would go in a different direction at the end! Not back though!

  • Allan 2.0

    I'm Gary Vaynerchuk and i approve this message;

    “Yum-Yum….”

What does that even mean? 🙂

  • Seanherriott

Gary, for years I've been trying to get people to drink MORE pink. I was surprised you were ready to dis. In my neck o' the woods it's still an arm twister, but hey more for me right? BTW La Vielle Ferme rose in a magnum is a great, cheap chuggler.

  • jenna35

A nice back to basics episode, especially with the summer focus! I enjoyed learning more about rose. I am always up for food and wine parings! I would love a once a week cheese or food episode to pair with the wine.

  • cellarrat5

    yo yo

  • cellarrat5

That seems to be most peoples responce in the tasting room too.

  • RichieHell

I like it too GV. Keep up the oldschool stuff.
QOTD: Well I really liked “Paranormal activity” but I hated the ending. It really sucked.

  • winesaurusrex

“O Brother, Where Art Though?” It just dragged on too long.

  • QOTD: Silence of the Lambs. Lector disappearing at the third act break just when things were really heating up was a terrible decision. The antagonist then becomes the other guy who we don't care about and isn't scary.
Just an awful, disappointing 2nd half to that movie.

  • cellarrat5

Good clean crisp episode. Glad the Rose's came through for the most part, I have always been a fan. If Roses have been “hyped” for the last ten years, I must have missed the boat. We made one this year, a Barbera rose, and half the people that come through the tasting room don't want to try it. I basically force everyone to try it, if they don?t like it I tell them they can throw it in my face. Since I am covered with wine half of the day anyway it?s like a drop in the bucket.

QOTD: Let me being this by saying I am a diehard Lord of the Rings fan, but the Return of the King dragged on forever. Peter Jackson did a fantastic job with the story line and cinematography for all of them, but the third movie could have easily been 45 minutes shorter.

  • Brunellofello

Another great show Gary. I really like the summertime theme. Keep it going. QOTD: Transformers II. I liked the first half, but then I could not wait for it be over.

  • Allan 2.0

“Uncle Vernon, Uncle Vernon, independent as a hog on ice
He's a big shot down there at the slaughterhouse
    Plays accordion for Mr. Weiss…..”

  • Clairets, that would be a nice show.
Muga does really good wine all around
Bandol makes wonderful high alcohol reds, perfect with chocolate

QOTD: Ironman2, yawn.. I almost fell a sleep after 40 minutes

  • RANDINTHECITY

    GARY!!!
Seriously..I cannot stand Discuss…wrote a whole reply..and my login when caplooey and its gone!!!!!!!!!!!
    *sigh*

    Anyway..not rewriting it..great show..
Tryn the Terrbrune and the Muga.
    XO

  • NY Pete

WTF … no coleman nicole rose of pinot noir to taste????????????

  • laurieinvt

    Yay for the rose'!
QOTD: Probably Dreamgirls (I don't seem to get much chance to watch movies…)

  • Jay

Cool episode. Liked when you started painting a picture for the 4th wine of where & when you see people drinking it and the types of food with it. Do that more often, it's a good thing.

Also, how is Misha? Is she walking talking etc? Do we get a Misha update?

  • ND

Good episode, interesting to see some rose which has been a while.

QOTD: Titanic. Romance story in first half is superior to special fx and sinking on back end!

  • SamKw

What, you did a rose wine episode and didn't even mention Tavel, a place dedicated to rose wines and nothing else?

QOTD: Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (the most recent one for those of you not so familiar with the series). I sat through the initial minutes that the movie would be as good as its prequels, but it got lamer and lamer until it really quite sucked at the end.

  • Top Seed

A.I. was only an okay movie to begin with but compares nicely to Copain Rose Tous Ensemble. Story ended but movie continued way to long.

    Top Seed

  • richardvinifera

QOTD: The Forgotten film, plot was compelling, then second half they go in this stupid direction…
