line of the day – ‘It’s like smelling Batman…dark’

Great show, absolute classic. Mott back to his psychophantic best – after saying he smells a heavy dose of barnyard GV says it’s not there, try it again. Mott caves in – ‘it’s disappeared’

Great to see GV so pumped for a show, His enthusiasm is contagious. Capped all by the hilarious ‘hair on chest’ moment at 4.20

  • njc2o

GARY what wine would you pair with DELICIOUS FISH TACOS

  • winecrazy

Ah…Sausage and Rabe…..I'm all about the Rabe if it isn't bitter. See Homey, now you have to come down to the shore. You can bring some of that wine and I'll make the best you ever had…..even better that Pasty's….yeah, I said it!!!!

  • Fish Tacos… I would pair anything with fish tacos as long as I could have them.

Gary, what gives with the shirt? Really?

  • Derek B

Your pronunciation is killing me Gary! It's CA-SHE-NA JEE-LEE. Hope that didn't come off as too harsh. Love the show.

  • Side QOTD: never had a Freisa D?asti.

QOTD: How about the most old world person I would like to know: Kermit Lynch

Dang, I just love the old school episodes! Off to my local wine shop to find a Freisa D'asti.

  • mattgmann

Glad to see a cotes du Roussillon. I've had quite a few lately, and this one sounds familiar.

  • gotsha

“It's like smelling batman.”….I don't think you realize just how hilarious you are GV.
    Freisa….never had one.
Most old school person would be jazz singer Melody Gardot. 25 year old with too much old school talent to be popular in today's world.

  • Allan 2.0

GREAT SHOW! thnx for the excitement. I feel like we can begin again!!!

Great Flintstone reference, that was pure Gary. I need that Fresia in my life………

Mott is a looker! yeah baby……

Qotd: Napoleon, yep he's my homey! 🙂 (could be you Gary)

  • Derek B

    QOTD: Wayne Owens: Oktoberfest

  • RANDINTHECITY

    I made this yesterday…

  • Now this show was truly superb – love that you continue to push under-the-radar-screen wines, there is soooo much satisfaction to be gained. Please continue with this theme, these shows are eye-openers and really educational. Also huge kudos to Mott, the way he zooms into the labels is perfect. QOTD 1: I am a nerd, but never tried a Freisa before. QOTD 2: Well, this has gotta be Hugh Johnson.

  • sapdog

    sideQOTD: No
QOTD: Father of a friend of mine – Old school Brit – lives in the English country side – drinks Bordeaux and peaty malt whiskey – drives a Jag – but owns a 1976 Mercedes 450SL two door coupe for summer jaunts. Will take you down to the local pub for a couple of pints and insists we leave the wives behind. That's old school.

  • BethAD1017

QOTD: There's is this great restaurant in Danvers, MA called Brothers and it is run by this very old world Greek man. He's the sweetest guy in the world, knows everyone by name and is making all the great Greek foods. Amazing place if you are ever on the North Shore in MA.

Gary, would the Freisa D'asti be worth cellaring or is it ready to drink now?

  • Allan 2.0

You're my favourite old person 🙂

    LOL

  • Allan 2.0

Hi, how are things in NY?

  • Cardiff_Kie

QOTD: 1. Never have had either varietals 2. Most old world person I know is the Concierge at our Winery in San Luis Obispo… Mr. John Shakely. A self certified cheese expert, an extreme Languedoc and Rhone guru and he is the only person I know who matches his undershirt and socks everyday no matter what color.

Gary keep up the good work great interview on 5by5. Just confirmed our season tickets for J E T S section 149 row 25…….. might be the only people from Montana with season tickets!

  • TheGreatWazu

“4 in the morning with the guys dark” LMAO. Great episode. The first wine seems like the kind of wine you buy and save for a few years? Old world person…hate to be like everyone else but it was my Dad. Just the way and how hard and long he would pinch my cheek and then slap me said everything. It was an “I love you” I miss verrrry much.

  • Allan 2.0

I'm comin' as well.! Let's get somadat!

  • Allan 2.0

Loved you on the show earlier. When will you ever be back again?

  • RANDINTHECITY

    Awesome Allan! How r u? 🙂

  • qotd1: no, never even heard of it before
qotd2: the most old world person i knew was this pub owner who only served warm beer. he closed up shop and moved back to jolly old england, he made a mean stout.

great show Gary, as one who is always looking for great value from a wine i will have to search these out.

  • RichieHell

    Side QOTD: Nope
QOTD: My hostmoms dad when I was in Lyon for three months a few years ago. He was a textbook Frenchman. Farm in the countryside, big winecellar and a baguette under his arm.

  • Hyperdrew

QOTD: Andrew Tadie, Professor of English at Seattle University. Tweed jackets, fountain pens, scotch, and impeccable use of email etiquette (which doesn't actually exist, which is why it's impressive).

  • pakman01

Big wine sale here in Mpls next week…will be checking both of these out!

QOTD: Old School? Dos Equis Most Interesting Man is pretty old school!!
