  • jenna35

Looking forward to Saturday too, Gary!

  • Jeremy

    Sir Gary!

Brilliant work!! And a marvelous Question of the Day!! This summer, I will be christening one of my finest sea vessels with a delectable bottle of bubbly! Of course, my plan is to lap up the spilled champagne from the ground, so I won't be using a glass bottle – the shards would certainly cut up my tongue! Armand de Brignac Brut Gold should prove to be sufficient! A sturdy bottle indeed!

    Cheers!

    Jeremy

    Good show!

I haven't invested much of my dough in Prosecco, but maybe i need to do so…? Sell out, NO WAY! Wine Spectator sucks, let's just say it like it is! 85; Mott is quick 😉
Prosecco is great value it seems, nice to see value, on the show, thnx.

Qotd: During these “tough times”, it could be the value play from Prosecco or maybe a Cava. But obviously Champagne is called for, for those special occasions. Maybe some Krug? Just kidding! :0)

    Thnx again G & Mott.

  • Allan

    You're late AGAIN! 🙂

  • ilbee

Nice little ep, haven't gotten that kind of a kick out of prosecco yet though.

QOTD: Totally depends on how many guests and how close they would be. Cheap alternative could be Faustino Cava, a little better sparkler Jansz Premium Cuvee and a Champagne probably Billecart-Salmon.

  • It might make me a sellout, but I rock the 6 dollar Cristalino Cava Brut. Good college kid budget bub. Great amount of acid which is what I like, and very easy drinking.

  • johnfarrin

    Early

  • mattgmann

i like the early shows…. I can watch before I start dinner.

  • QOTD – still tend to go French, but some interesting non-Champagne options… sparkling Vouvray, Cremant de Bourgogne, Cremant D'Alsace, etc. For a real special occasion my fave is Bollinger Grande Annee.

  • mattgmann

qotd: Cava, inexpensive, and lots of it.

  • Jrouss

I would drink a Moscato d'Asti. I like the sweeter sparkling wines. Champagne and Prosecco are both just plain bitter. Most people I know that have champagne, prosecco, and moscato d'asti's side by side rate the moscato's way above the other two. Again prosecco just seems bitter and very acid and almost metalic to the taste.

  • Benfranco

can't be there on Saturday but wish i could be… QOTD I love Prosecco…

  • Eleven!!! That is a bit of an inside joke with my lovely bride. Also anyone that played the original You Don't Know Jack quiz game.

If I were to serve a sparkling white this summer, now I would have to sample some prosecco ahead of time as a possible option.

  • Mott you are the man that makes the magic happen. Thanks for keeping the videos tight and encoded well.

  • KUDOS to Mott… “85”, Man's got a reaction time like a trap!

QOTD: No planned bubbles this summer. sorry 🙁

  • tarany

    QOTD:

Prosecco all the way. Riondo is tasty and cheap, which came in handy for celebrating graduation despite unemployment. Also, sparkling roses are fun for a change of pace.

  • BethAD1017

QOTD: I love the Prosecco and serve it often in the summer and for special events. I also have a sparkling pinot noir from Austria that is totally killer! I get a case every time I go to Vermont on vacation at the Trapp Lodge. It is on their wine list and I get it direct from their distributor. Amazing stuff!

AMAZING SHOW. You guys are on such a roll. The 85 has pushed me over the edge to make a short clip reel in celebration of show 900. Can't wait to start this weekend…

  • seb10

    Hi Gary,

Loved the prosecco episode, I too think they are great price-quality wise. Don't whirl the stuff Gary, you lose the bubbles ! I like Carpene-Malvolti, it's the oldest and it's dead cheap.
    Love Seb

  • charlzee

Great thunder on this episode! MaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhTTTTTTTTTT (mott) love your dragging mott's name out.

  • jason carey

Not all proseccos are tank method..

  • QOTD: Cava all the way! Cavas are about the same price as Proscecos (at least in BC) and have finer bubbles and more interesting taste. Almost as good as (and in many cases better than) champagne costing 3 times the price.

Nice, tight, focused episode. Keep up the trend PPPPLLLLLEEEEAAAAASSSSSSSEEEE!

    Edwardo

  • QOTD: I tend to go with a Spanish Cava. Try to look for the Brut one usually, but I'm not too picky with the sparklings.

Have fun at the party saturday! Wish I could be there 🙁

  • Ralphcotto

The Ca' Furlan is excellent. The perfect summer time quaffer. In fact, this is the wine to use when making a Bellini. And Gary is right, the ladies love it “Mo Fo s”.

  • QOTD – if it were brunch or midday, it would be a prosecco, if it were in the evening I might lead in with a Magnum of Champagne or Cali Sparkling (really do like the vintage J Vineyard), especially if it were more of a dinner party.

  • kinda meh.

    QOTD: Something good.

  • drt999

QOTD — In the summer? for a big get together, laugh or scoff if you will, but good ol' M&R Spumante — low alcohol, lots of fizz, and fun. For something more serious & romantic, I look for Iron Horse first

  • ahillsey

New QOTD: Where does Lebron end up?

  • Brunellofello

Another good show Gary. I love it when the underdog wins these head to heads matchups. I'm counting down the hours til Saturday. I hope my plane's on time. QOTD: I don't drink much sparkling except for special occasions and it's usually Bollingers or M&C white star

  • I few years ago I had the opportunity to develop a series of Italian restaurants for a family of ex-pats and every time there was something to celebrate they would uncork Asti and Prosecco bottles by the bunch, and there were a lot of things, probably twice a month, they love their sparkling wines.

QOTD: I would serve Cava probably, it's great for cocktails as well.

  • QOTD: I'm kind of digging the 1+1=3 Cava right now, especially for the price, though I want to check out this Ca' Furlan.

  • Hugh

RE QOTD Louis Roederer Quartet NV stunning and the best of it's class. Just about to buy your 'Crush it' book too. Keep an idea out for http://www.lonelyboy.co.uk

  • QOTD: Champagne Palmer Millésime Brut, because it's fairly priced and really good.

And to all that goes to the WL party, have a good time, I'll have to settle for taking my rusty old motorhome to the swedish west coast to soak up some sun, eat some seafood and drink some, yes you guessed right.. Champagne Palmer Millésime Brut

  • Scott

    Great video!

  • NeilMc

QOTD: We usually go with Mumm Napa however I bought a couple of bottles of Roederer Brut from the Anderson Valley. It went great with food but on its own was a little off..

  • paryb

Very cool episode boyos! Mott is an Wesley Walker Ninja!

QOTD: Because I'm loyal to my New Mexico, I'd pick Gruet Brut for the bubbles.

  • LurkerKing

The lurker King comes at you like a spider monkey in the comment section.

  • Asti Spumante! Woop Woop!

  • NY Pete

    hey hey

  • LurkerKing

The Lurkshow would be servin up some Sangue di Guida at the lurk fest to the lurker ladies.

  • guymandude

'secco all the way, great qpr.

  • castello

Just booked my flight to NYC Kennedy airport. I'll get there on Friday morning! Yippie! got a room at the Roger Smith for a little after tasteing.

  • XpensiveWino

Great show Gary, wish I could make it to Jersey this weekend, but sadly..no.

Prosecco sounds great and I will probably buy a couple bottles for the Mrs. I do have to say however, what the hell!!?? Why have you still not done a show on domestic sparkers??? I've been screaming for this since 2009! What gives? Do you not live in the US?? How about giving some love for our great domestic wines!!

Have fun this weekend, don't drink too much.

  • QOTD – A heap of Cava!

  • Andy

Great shirt, Gary! I've been thinking of getting that one for ages.
