  • What Dr Edwardo? You want a guest episode? I understand. Me too. 😛

  • Some nice ideas to bring to the party. Hmmm….

  • RANDINTHECITY

    GARY!!!!

I LOVE Prosecco! (I just love bubbles!!)
I was just yelling at the screen “Bellini!!!” LOL Glad you got it!

QOTD: I currently have A LOT of Riondo Prosecco & the Rose Riondo Prosecco…most of it is at the house in Montauk..where theres always company..and everyones always thirsty! 😉

    XOXO
    Gary..your hairs getting long!

  • QOTDL: I would splurge, spend the big bucks (95 cents) and serve the finest Muscatel from Idaho! (see: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wiGAAHG0O1A)

    Nice show today Gary.
I tried my first Prosecco this past fall, and while I feel that it leaves my mouth a bit empty, and still enjoy it, particularly in this hot weather. But,
    I still prefer the Sparkling.
Going to have a party? Would probably by NV Cava Brute, or perhaps Domaine Chandon. However, either way, I would still drink the Cooks Brute myself. I love the stuff. Really.

  • Nickcaruth

why no bisol cartizze/crede or their new jeio bottles?
OR instead of some random IGT crap how bout some DOG Prosecco di Valdobbiadene???
Come on Gary, two random crappy fizzlers, step up your game

  • debnj

Definitely would serve the Ca' Furlan which I bought after one of your Monday video picks. Everyone enjoyed it on Father's Day–it pleased all palates.

  • castello

    Excellent!

  • lawrenceleichtman

Depends who is coming to the party. If it is a big group Cava is the most likely. A small intimate group with great food, probably high end French Champagne such as Billicart.

  • plcb

QOTD: a cremant from Alsace or a Spanish cava or Prosecco

  • plcb

    gotta watch

  • Another Fantastic episode Gary. Love the energy your bringing at the moment.
Special bubbly for summer would have to be a bottle of Nyetimber 2003 classic cuvee. Yummy stuff!!

  • Flash

I would Price no matter 1996 Krug or 1996 Pol Roger Sir Winston Churchill. I have had both and they are great.

  • Naples Kathy

QOTD: I just served the Ca'Furlan Prosecco over the Fourth; greatly enjoyed by all. Happy Independence to one and ALL, Naples Kathy aka Champagne Lady

  • Slushpuppy

Gary & Mott: You're looking good, and going great; always good to see your smiling face. You brighten up my day! Please shout me out on my birthday, July 20 (the day in '69 that man first set foot on the moon.) Thanks
    Smell it first. TR

  • Pete G

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the blue bottle La Marca is the extra dry (hence
a bit sweeter) prosecco and the yellow label La Marca is the brut version (hence drier).
I think you would have liked the brut version better.

QOTD: Hard to find outside of New York but Herman Weimer (Finger Lakes) makes some
killer bubbles especially his blanc de noir and they age well to. Also a Big Big fan
of CA aparkling wine – particularly Iron Horse. For under $30 a bottle it's great
    juice.

  • Nice show! I think the local wine store carries Ca'Furlan. May have to check again. If they ARE carrying it, there'll be two less tomorrow 🙂

QOTD: Most ppl I know aren't wine drinkers, and historically everyone of them has loved the good 'ole Martini&Rossi Asti. Whatever works, right?

  • winorob

Big ups for featuring Prosecco; I do love the sparkling in almost any form. QOTD: I would probably serve a Blanc de Noir, maybe Mumm Napa-it's a good standby for not too many bones.

  • b777capt

    Good Show. Love the prosecco.

QOTD: We served Asti Spumanti for my daughter's wedding (my wife loooves the semisweet stuff) but she has lately found cava and prosecco to be her thing.

  • Great episode… the WIFE REALLY liked it… as you say.. the Ladies… 😉

Bummed I can't make 7/10… waiting for the WEST COAST edition, right?

QOTD: Have to go with The Widow, of course…

  • DiamondDon

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't La Marca a Gallo product? Probably why it has the big ratings and the less than complex palate. Most likely more money goes to focus groups, advertising and packaging than into making a serious wine.

  • Dennis Cox

    QOTD: Segura Viudas

  • I'm with RANDINTHECITY – been quaffing a lot of Riondo Prosecco-Raboso sparkling rose. Very serviceable pink sparkler, and imminently affordable. Everyone likes it, and I'd have no qualms about serving it at parties.

  • DAveAll

    ppppppppppppppppprrrrrrrrrrrrrrrroooooooooooooooooossssssssssssssseeeeeeeeeeeeeecccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccooooooooooooooo
    (oh, I'm not winnoooooo)
good show. nice to see you surprised by the first wine.

Kahuna rocks – so lay off. haha.
QOTD: Prosecco – all my friends love it too.

  • DiamondDon

    QTOD: Emilo Bulfon Sciaglin Frizzante

  • Great show! I like when you visit other bubbles!! Nice job Mott on the 85!

QOTD: I served a Mionetto Prosecco Sergio Rose over the 4th. Somewhat enjoyable but not as acidic as I like them.

  • laurieinvt

QOTD: Prosecco! Can't beat the QPR, most people like it. I'm always intrigued by the fact that at a party, for the most part, people will drink and enjoy something that they would find pretty crappy if they popped it at home….
I need to pick up some of this yummy stuff pronto as my first grandchild (a girl!) will arrive any day now, and we will need to be celebrating! (I still cannot quite believe I'm saying this!) 😀

  • Mike and Anna

QOTD: realistically I'd go with Prosecco for budget reasons. But if I hit it big I'd choose a Petillant Vouvray from the Loire Valley (had a great 2001 from Huet recently). Delish.

BTW Gary, I am unlurking on behalf of me and the husband so I don't have to hang my head in lurker shame when I say hello at the event this Saturday 🙂

  • Liz

LOve Proseco and love that you gave the $10 one a higher score – so on that! Cool t-shirt too @ Garyvee – when ya gonna wear the I Walk the Vine one I gave you??

  • WineWoman

QOTD: Favorite Prosecco is the Oriel “365”—it's the best. An inexpensive German Sparkler that I recently retried(8 bones a bottle) was Henckell Trocken. Excellent for the money. I used to order this Italian Frizzante in a blue bottle about a decade ago–under 20 a bottle which was delicious–do not remember the producer.

  • ladykafka

    Disgusting,

  • Lurker Berserker

I agree that Prosecco offers excellent value. In my opinion, Cava brings more thunder as they typically roll in at a lower price-point than Prosecco and they're produced in the Methode Traditionelle.

QOTD: If I was going to bring some sparkling wine to a celebration, I'd bring a Cremant d'Alsace – dollar for dollar, I think its the best sparkling value out there.

  • BOOO. Loose the Flute. Real men drink bubbles from real glasses. Great show though.
Lots of guys like the bubbles also. I drink Proseccos, Cavas and Cremants every freak'n chance I get. Love it. Great show.
Sparkling wine (especially sparky rose's) + grill food or BBQ = Stupid Good.

No prob that you don't like La Marca. I love it because it reminds me of Soave. That white peach and honey suckle thing.

QOTD: Gratien & Meyer Samur rose brut with grilled fish tacos.
Moet Chandon rose' Nectar with sliced fruit and hard cheeses
La Marca Prosecco with Grilled Lamb with rosemary and feta.

Dude, I'm telling you. It's not just the ladies that like the sparky's.

  • Altboy97

I'm really looking to see you on Saturday. Haven't really tried that many sparklers. Had a Cava or two over the holidays, but no Proseccos yet. I know you like sparkling and have featured them on the show a few times (recall the episode on decanting), so I often wonder why they don't ever show up as a deal on any of your outlets. I got to try a couple vintage champagnes at tastings over the holidays and was surprised of the difference from the mass market non-vintage stuff. Of course, also big $.

  • laposte

QOTD: Love sparklers, I would bring J Cuvée

  • scottEJ

Thanks, G. Tough to beat the cheap sparklers on the hot, hot days/nights.

QOTD: I've been liking the Aria Cava. I brought two of their rose of pinot noir to a 4th party and it was gone in seconds.

  • ZachNYC

Hey GV….just had some for my B'Day on July 5th! Great show. I will have to try the Ca? Furlan.

    Thanks!

  • corkscrew

    Not a sparkling fan… QOTD-would have to mix it with Tequila…. http://www.winelx.com

  • Lucyfish21

Megadittos, Gary! Great show! Prosecco rocks! Am I drunk? Were you drunk when you taped the show? OK, we need a little balance. Let's sell some Prosecco today. Tomorrow some Brunello. What were we able to get an exclusive truckload of this week?

Did ladyfafka mean the show or the wine?

  • A dumb Rhein king

QOTD: I would have the wine that I made and also promote state wines.

  • A slightly sweet sparkling is a wonderful complement to seafood. I'm very interested to try the Ca' Furlan with some fresh scallops from my butcher. Thanks for the episode.

QOTD: I would probably serve Cliquot Brut. It's is my current favorite in the champagne category.

  • QOTD; Gloria Ferrer sonoma brut.

  • Not a fan of Prosecco (but have only tried a few). That said I would follow your advice and choose these over Korbel…. Can't believe I liked Korbel in the '80s.

    QOTD: Taittinger Brut

  • Don Simpson

Gary – thanks for doing a show on Prosecco, my fiance is a HUGE fan of sparkling wine so keep these coming!

QOTD: We're getting married in June 2011 so my big project for the next year is food & wine pairings for the wedding (especially finding good QPR). Any recommendations people have for sparkling wine is greatly appreciated! I know with the wedding cake I should go with something a little sweeter but also want to have some brut for the reception. Thanks!

  • Don Simpson

Douglas – great call… I was just out in Sonoma & Napa last week for a wedding at V Sattui and had the Gloria Ferrer brut at the Ledson tasting bar in Sonoma plaza. It was really good!!! Also liked the Domaine Carneros brut. We wanted to go to Schramsberg but couldn't get an appointment. Maybe next time.

  • Don Simpson

What is the Cremant d'Alsace? Sounds interesting.

  • waynooo daaa wino

    WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO-
    OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUBBBBBBBLLLLLEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
    IIIIIIINNNN DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I have always been a fan of Prosecco and bubbles in general. Excellent show Gary please, keep it up. I wish I could make it to the party but afraid my plans to leave the left coast were off by a week!

QOTD: I'd do a Prosecco or Cremant though Bevmo (out this way) has a special on Chandon Riche for 12 bones which is pretty attractive!

  • BuffaloLou

QOTD: I've had the Ca? Furlan Prosecco before and I like it. I'm not much of a sparkling wine fan normally, but I just loved the Prosecco. I think it's a perfect pairing with a cold crab salad (especially the one at Catch 31 in Virginia Beach!)

  • Justin Lawrence

I've been enjoying the Lunetta Prossecco for 10 bucks. That would be a fantastic celebration wine!
