    Just tasted Wine Spectators #10 Wine of the year. 2007 Brancaia Tre from Tuscany. Here are my tasting notes:
    “Are you kidding me? #10 wine of the year? This doesn't crack top 10,000. Tastes like someone fermented skittles in koolaid. Where is the koolaid man? He should bust through my wall any moment now. Fruit bomb. Shame. Shame on the house of wine spectator.” Please see my vegetable garden for tasting notes on the rest of the bottle.

    2009 ?Espiral? Vinho Verde ? Portugal – 9% ABV

    Good light yellowish color.
    Almost beyond frizzante with a little extra carbonation that does eventually fade as the bottle gets enjoyed.
    Nose is citrus (lemon and star fruit), dandelion, honey, and salty, wet rocks, rather beach-like. Subtle undertones of grass.
    Taste… Big lemon attack. Dry minerality, yet also sweet. Walks a fine line between dry and sweet. Very nice. Tart finish that surprisingly lasts and lasts, turning a little more sweet than dry, yet STILL retaining that wet mineral effect.
    The ?lemonade? of wine, in a good way. Not overly complex, nor should it be.

    This Vinho Verde is at least a double, if not a sliding triple… minus some skin. 🙂
    I'm serious… I've had $10 to $15 Vinho Verdes that were not as well made and delicious! Vivo Espiral!!

    Man… I wish Gary would actually LISTEN to the Vayniac Nation and do a show on Vinho Verde for the summer… (and Zins for that matter!)
    There has been a Multitude of comments about Vinho Verde over the last several eps from MANY different people…
    V.V.s may not be the most complex vino on the planet, but they are indeed fun and versatile, lending themselves to MANY different cuisines and social situations… the Italian chicken w/ herbs and pasta (marinated in this vinho) we had today was simply AWESOME w/ this wine…
    I don't always need a deep, complex Pinot or Cab to enjoy a meal…
    So basically, ErieWineGuy, I hope you get somodis (or something comparable) to enjoy w/ yer amigos…
