i want to have a barbaresco with vinny chase

  • Now I’m going to sound like a little kid again but probably the most popular somewhat-new character with an umbrella is Hagrid with his pink umbrella from Harry Potter. Yes, I did just bring up Harry potter in this.

  • Anonymous

Most branded umbrella character. The Morton Salt Girl. Initially, I thought of Mr. Peanut, but on closer inspection, he carries a cane.

  • Mick Walsh

QOTD1: Gene Kelly? Drinking Bruno Rocca 2004 Barbaresco tonight with my good lady, really looking forward to it. Been a long week. QOTD2: If Jack (Sideways) was here to share it with us, there’d be Kodak (and YouTube) moments..

  • Phaser

    OK,
I’m going out to buy a bottle, I have never went to look for you showen befor, but there is a first time for everything.

QOTD: Capt Lord Ramage, from the Dudly Pope books.

  • Phaser

    That is a good one.

Those wines brought the thunder! I am getting soooo excited for my next trip to the wine shop! Italian wines have always been my favorite… I am happy that you are loving them like crazy. Although, Spain is beginning to tickle my fancy too. Just do an Italian show every Friday, will ya Mr. V?

QOTD: I got nothing… maybe Renoir’s work (see link below)
    http://www.masterpiece-paintings-gallery.com/renoir-umbrellas.htm

QOTD GLOBAL: Without a doubt, J. Wellington Wimpy, so that we could share a burger, some barbaresco and lively chatter about Popeye and the others!

    Thanks Gary, great question!

Its sort of like I always am talking about Barolo/Barbaresco, but I kind of like keeping it a secret as well.

QOTD: Bruce Wayne aka Batman. He’s super rich and probably appreciates wine very much. Then after polishing off a bottle we can go kick some ass!

  • The third question of the day: Hands down Sean Connery as James bond!

LOL re: QOTD 1 — Neville Chamberlain!

Not about this episode, but I had to post. I am mainly a lurker and watch but don’t post. I live in the wine Nazi state of MA where WLTV cannot ship to. I was in NJ on business the other day when driving down the road I look over and see a sign…holy cow that is Wine Library! I have to stop. I pull in and mark it on GPS. After my meeting I went back and got a case of wine. 2 bottles each of stuff I have never tried. Only bummer is I accidentally got a women’s XL T shirt with logo on it that I did not realize until I got home. So my wife has a Large loose shirt to wear. Also got one for my son which he is wearing today. Although he is too young to drink the wine he loves watching Gary on his ipod. My son said, Dad why didn’t you get Gary to autograph my shirt. I should have tried to meet you but didn’t want to look too much like a geeky tourist. Thanks for making my day this past Wednesday.

  • QOTD: Toss between Sherlock Holmes and since I am watching some old school sci-fi; Kerr Avon.

  • QOTD: Sir Gary Vaynerchuk

  • Read my mind!

QOTD1: OK, Mary Poppins, why not?!
QOTD: It would be great sharing Nebbiolo with Splinter from teenage mutant ninja turtles.

GV, quick story. So, as I am a huge fan of pickles, always have been, one night I couldn’t decide from pickles or ice cream as my late night snack to a Friday night movie with the fam. I was perhaps 11 years old. So, with a creative mind to explore and the inability to say no, chopped two or so pickles and mixed them in with my chocolate swirl ice cream. Ate about half, and put it in the freezer for another day. Couldn’t finish the whole bowl in a weeks span, and dump the last quarter or so of it. Thought you might enjoy 🙂

  • Hittin the Nebiollo BIG!

  • morton salt lady…..

  • The Morton Umbrella Girl has been an enduring icon since she first appeared on our table salt packaging in 1914

Sir Vaynerchuk and his worldly father.

  • QOTD: Dr. Hannibal Lecter, Patrick Bateman, or Freddie Miles

  • QOTD: Gene Kelly

Gotta be the Morton Girl. Same pose all these years? That’s bringing it.

  • I prefer 20 minute episodes but this’ll do

QOTD: Lisbeth Salander – would love to her that crazy, awesome, fierce character talk about wine. She’s the Gary V of the fictional world – no high brow comments, just the real deal! If you don’t know who she is, find out – it will be well worth your time. Now off to buy some Barbaresco!

  • QOTD: My fictional character would have to be Dean Moriarty from On the Road even though it’s a character based on real life person Neal Cassady. We’d have a blasty blast.

  • Great Show! I am an italian wine fan since day 1 and really love the Nebbiolo varietal… The sad part is since I am in Canada, I just can’t find any of the wines your tasting… (snif)
    QOTD: Michael Corleone !

  • QOTD #2: Ned Nederlander

Brilliant show. Have to find the importer for the Rabaja in The Netherlands. Nebbiolo is hot among sommeliers in Holland as well, as mentioned because of the complexity and food-friendliness. Parusso and Franco Conterno are also worth checking out. Tremendous value for money.

QOTD: Either Sebastian Valmont or Lt. Col. Frank Slade

QOTD1: No contest – John Steed (The Avengers – you know, patrick Macnee, Honor Blackman, Diana Rigg… wine toast at the start (season 4+)). Don’t know the show? Check it out.
QOTD2: Too tough… but given QOTD1, I’ll go with Emma Peel — luscious and sultry, dark and mysterious. Oh yes, her too.

    Ah, the 60s.

  • Man, I love this Nebbiolo kick. Keep it going!

John Steed of the Avengers, Mrs Peele was HOT!

QOTD1: Gotta go with the Morton Salt girl. I’m just bummed a company shill said it before I did.

QOTD2: I’ve always wanted to have a glass of wine with a wizard. Merlin.

Good show, BTW. You’re really tempting me to sneak a bottle in, but I can’t. I just don’t have any place to put it. Great Barbaresco will have to wait.
