    Listened to the show last night. Typical ADD Gary – interrupting Mr. Pearson to answer a question about what wine to pair with Lentil soup? What’s up with that?

    But that’s why I’m a fan, Gary is so human. Hyper? You bet, but always honest. I’ll be listening every Thursday.

    By the way – this was the most lame show ever! 🙂

    Thank you for the show. I enjoy the contrast between the expensive and inexpensive. I never understood why you need to apologize for bad wines. These shows are just as valuable, and I would not not consider Vin de Pays a bad value because of a particular show. I just enjoy it.
    Please do a show on inexpensive Bordeaux. I’m not trying to be a Bordeaux salesman, but the worst I’ve had are really not terrible. I’m really curious about the ones you would come up with as a value play. Searching my data, I find the following were pretty damn cheap by college person standards but ok: Chateau Les Berthets, Chateau De Paillet-Quancard, Chateau De Paillet-Quancard, Chateau Haut-Gacheriem, Chateau Romefort.

    I think 51 for a single wine but I’m sure that there has never been a show
    where the combined total for the three wines has been even close to today’s.
    The two-buck-chuck wines as a whole scored way better than these did.

    I’d rather have a brown-bag blind tasting strike out like today than any episode with a guest. GV’s at his best when he is evaluating wine … and at his worst when he’s not.

    Enjoyed the Sirius XM show last night. I tryed to phone in, to show my support…of course lines were busy. Maybe I’ll have better luck next week.

    That’s probably because I was on hold for 15 minutes only to be told to hang up and call in Why would I need to call in again…..??? I’m already on the freaking phone for 15 minutes!!!!!…..can you believe that?? I even told the guy it’s Glen “WINECRAZY” and I thought for sure I would be golden and be talking to Gary on his first ever radio show but Noooooo!!!!!! instead I was totally blown off by who ever was screening the calls….!!!!!!

    The screener for your radio show sucks!!! The show was great…..would have been greater if I was put through to talk to your instead of being put on hold for 15 minutes and then to be told to call back because they are clearing the phone lines for part 2…. Why would I need to call back? I’m on hold for 15 minutes hello….????

    Total bummer that I was not able to talk to you on your first radio show. Instead of making history I guess I am history….jeeeez!!

  • No QOTD? What kind of start to the weekend is that…? Then again, I missed the show last night on XM, and may never forgive myself, so I suppose I’m getting what I deserve.

    I’ve noticed a lot of VDP Viognier’s out there, and I figure they’re likely to be more interesting than any of these wines, just by virtue of the fact that Viognier is so aromatic by default…

    Costello got my line. When Sirius signed Howard Stern and wanted me to pay money to listen to him I thought, They can’t be serious.

    QOTD; Didn’t tune in, but I had forgotten that my better half has SR in her car, so we’ll probably be listening to Mister V. in the driveway.

    When I get one of these disappointing bottles, rather than dump it, sometimes I put them in the decanter and they open up enough to “use.”

    Good apple sauce; Trader Joe’s organic.

    So I fell asleep while on hold and they woke me up about 90 minutes later and had me update my flash and then my windows player then hung up on me I think. It didn’t work. He said I need firefrikkinfox or somesuch. Now I’m on hold again. some fun.

    Gary – long time “lurker” . . . first time poster. Three things:

    First – loved the show tonight; don’t apologize for bad wines – the fact that you call ’em like you see ’em is what brings me back day after day.

    Also – love the brown bag shows – always a blast to watch you suss them out.

    Finally re QOTD – intended to listen to the Sirius show last night but work got in the way – am going to try to grab the re-run tonight. Where can I find out what wines you will taste on the radio next week? Would live to drink along with you.

    You bring the thunder to my favorite hobby — please keep it going in as many venues as you can handle! 😉

    don’t have sirius or xm. would never support Stern in any format. ever. when he dies, i will get sirius. (ok, do you see my passion here?)

    Vin De Pays are an exploration, never know what you will get. smile. like any quest – never give up, each one is unique and some are amazing.

  • Damn. I almost wanted to just pat you on the back and say “it’s okay gary… it’s okay” And give you a barolo or something. To be honest, Instead of getting super cheap wine I feel way more comfortable buying a good beer or something. I know value wines exist, I’ve seen enough episodes to know that, but it isn’t often enough the case to risk it when I am dying for something good.
