Pulling for the Ravens tonight just to hand an early knock-out to a co-worker in survivor football.
QOTD: Redskins. Big win last night but I didn’t see a whole lot to get excited about. I’m going to say 7-9.

Not a bad show, looking forward to expanding my Italian wine Pallet. Someone failed on the posting of the wines drank this show up above the comments; we miss Mott (sorry Michelle, nothing against you). Speaking of comments, you forgot to get to them, must be the Jets fever (it makes you delusional ;))
QOTD: I Could Care Less will finish this season strong with a 234-0 record (there are 234 games in a season right?) I am a little worried about I Want A New QOTD, they are looking good this year.
Great show, Bit of a drive for me to get these kind of wines, might have to start ordering them.
QOTD, I have been a Detroit fan all my live. Last weekend, well bad calls seem to follow Detroit teams. I don’t need Detroit to go to the Super Bowl, I just need them to play like they mean it.

RE: Bears v Lions – don’t see the big deal about the (correct) call that was made, especially when its seems pretty clear in the rule book. More of a case of the correct call on a bad rule.
Da Bears!

Good show GV. Three unusual wines and some history. I like it but alas, my face is still intact. Bring the thunder.

Great Show. I’ve tried, but didn’t like, wines from Puglia before, but definitely going to try this one.
QOTD: Eagles, 9-7, going to be 6-2 after 8 games, but the second half is going to be murder.

Good show Gary, nice to see some Italian reds other than Chiantis (zzzzz) and Sangiovese get some love. Always looking for value plays and for 11 bones, I’ll be seeking out that Nero Do Troia.
Ravens 20-Jets 13
QOTD: Lifetime Niner fan, and yesterday was sickening. I’m going 10-6 with them taking the NFC West. Had them @ 11-5 but Seattle convinced me otherwise. Other 5 losses, Saints, Falcons, Packers, Cards, Chargers

That was one of the worst calls I’ve ever seen. I really think Detroit will be better this year.

Love that u are so pump about the Di Troia wine I’ am getting it!!!
QOTD: Team Dolphins defense looks great yet againg offense is a problem!!! 10-6 wild card, this years loses 1 vikins, 1 to jets, 2 to pats, 1 steelers, 1 ravens. Todays jets game 24-17 jets win!!!

Have had the first 2 wines. The Gaglioppo wasn’t anything special to me. Glad I only bought one bottle. The Bottaccia Nero di Troia was an “excellent” everyday wine and Chianti substitute. If anyone is interested in an Italian pinot noir, the Madonna Alta(previous staff pick) is also an excellent recommendation.
Sports: Rain delay at US Open. Jets prediction: Ravens 21 Jets 17
My football team= NY Giants(through marriage) Husband’s prediction 11-5

You tell Michelle her G Men will meet up with a pissed off Colt team and will lose big

Glad you brought some Italian reds to the show I haven’t heard of the first two so I’ll have to go check it out!
QOTD: I accept your apology as a Detroit Lions fan, Gary. That call was absolute BULL! So the Lions are at 0-1
However my Michigan Wolverines pulled out a HUGE victory against the Irish this past weekend putting them at 2-0! I nearly had a heart attack! I’ll predict our losses against Iowa, Wisconsin, and Ohio State (although it kills me to admit it). This would put us at 9-3
I think this is my third post in 4 years (sorry). Just wondering if you have ever tried to get Anthony Bourdain on your show? I love his and for one reason or another while watching his No reservations 100th episode last week I thought the two of you would make for good conversation. If you haven’t seen it, his 100th episode was about the changes in French cuisine. Very interesting.
Anyways, just a thought. Would love to see the two of you talk.
Thanks!

Colts 12-6 we get 12 wins again. Tonight will be a low game due to weather(i think)13-9 Jets

Feel sorry for the Lions also. But the call was correct, the rule needs to be changed!QOTD: Vikings fan predicting 10-6 (2nd place behind the 12-4 Pack in NFC North). Losses to Jets (you’re welcome Gary), Pack (at Lambeau), Pats, Bears (in Chi), Skins, and Eagles (the Vikings always have trouble beating NFC East teams on the road). I also predict Farve will miss at least 6 regular season games, probably due to ankle issues.

I think Jets will win at home against the Ravens with no Ed Reed. I agree with your 11-5, but I think they Jets will lose the game at Baltimore and not at home to the Ravens.
As for me, I think the Saints will go 13-3.

oops cant do math 12-4 colts

GV, I am Vikings fan, and its been that way for 15 yrs. 12 and 4. Losses to: New Orleans, Packers, New England, and Giants.
Pats fan here…too bad. Deal with it. I’m also a WLTV fan. VERY interested in the 2007. You had me at the black pepper nose. My prediction for the Pats this year – 13-3, winning the big one. Love to see them face your team in the AFC Conference Championship. GREAT show today.

Actually the call was correct per the current rule, stupid as it is. But the rule needs to be changed because Johnson obviously caught and had full control of the ball.

First off, it is great to see another Vikings fan. I appreciate the down to earth prediction, but Farve (note: I’m not a Farve fan) is one of the toughest human beings to play the game, and as we all know has never missed a game. Missing 6…I dont know. Behind the Pack… You much be watching more ESPN than me, but after our great run last year, I don’t see second in the NFC North as a reality. Thanks for the insight. Agreed, the rule needs to be changed.

Now that’s Italian!!!!!!!
QOTD: uh……huh?

QOTD: I think my Packers are going to go 14-2 this season, though I can’t say who those two losses will be to.

P.S. glad to see WLTV back to the old format!

I can always tell which wines GV recommends even before watching. They are always sold out 1 hour after the show…

Great to have you back, and thanks for the tip on the Torre.

Thanks Boomy, my fellow Vikings fan friends have always accused me of being a bit pessimistic when it comes to the Vikings. Perhaps it has something to do with 0-4 in Super Bowls, 75 versus Dallas in the playoffs, 87 NFC Championship against the Skins, 98 NFC Championship against Atl, and last year in New Orleans. 🙁
I know Favre is a tough SOB, but I don’t think his heart is in it this year. I think that alone will drive down his pain tolerance. In fact it may work out to our advantage if he goes down for 4-6 weeks in the middle of the season so he’s fresh for a playoff run.
I was born and raised in Minny, left after high school in 1978, but have remained a Vikings fan and will be a Vikings fan until the day I die (which likely will occur on the same day the Vikings finally win a Super Bowl – heart attack!)
