  • Good show Gary, Southern Italy deserves the love, I have recently been enjoying Fiano and it shows that the whites are just as undervalued as the reds. Speaking of undervalued I thought I would carry on my own personal campaign of:

Try a bottle of Quincy on WLTV next to some other Sauvignon Blancs!!!

    Jets 24 Ravens 21. My Bills……3-13

  • Hey Gary

Good show – I really think the three bottle compare and contrast works better than the single bottle style.

QOTD: Predicition for the Tin Shui Wai Pegasus (HK soccer team) – second over all at eh end of the season (only you American guys talk about “…. from ….”). The ‘Flying Horse should have another goos season and hopefully finish just behind South China again.

    Cheers
    Andrew

  • Great show, thanks for bringing the thunder and continuing to help expand the palette.

Broncos… all the way this year.

  • Anonymous

    Well, I’ve had one Gaglioppo. . . .

    QOTD —
    Saints, 10-6

  • Love this format, showing three different wines from a region. Great job! Go JETS!!!!

QOTD: Chargers 21, Kansas City 10. I’m going with the Chargers will be 12-4 this season, something like that. Have more faith in your Jets, Gary, they’re winning right now!

My family is originally from Puglia. The food and the wines have always been underrated by the snobs of northern Italy. Please have Pugliese wines on Cindy. hint hint my BD is 9/25.Thanks GV

Gary, Darn, you let the cat out of the Bag! ;-). Uva di Troia is a spectacular under the radar grape. I had many over the years and this wine usually gets better for 2-3 years trending to old world seconday flavors. So here’s the tip, Buy Uva Di Troia in place of Chianti Classico for about 1/3 the price. This wine will match a bowl of paste with red sauce perfectly!

    Giants fan here.
I thought 9-7, but examined the schedule and it is not horrible so I go 10-6

    Losses:
    Colts
    Titans
    Texans
    1 Cowboys Game
    1 Redksins Game
    Packers

Great to have you back and with some great finds.

    Thanks man.

  • L’egance of Looavull

I’ll try to find some Nero Di Troia, but it’ll be like looking for a needle in a haystack at the wine shops here (literally). I need to start writing letters to my legislator about tweaking the alcohol shipping law… I’m sad that I can’t order wine from Wine Library! :(They want everyone to buy local and I think thats awesome, but we have all the bourbon in the world and yet a somewhat limited selection of imported wine.QOTD: I’m still sad my Cards lost to the sucky Kentucky pussycats. As for tonight, JETS! JETS! JETS!

  • Texans fan here. I think they’ll be 11-5. After that win against the Colts I have a good feeling about this year. I truly believe the Texans are capable of beating ANYBODY.

  • Cubatobaco (Ray)

I’m digging the show, Gary! A little nerd thunder and will be on the lookout for the Troia.

QOTD: Cowboys fan here. After our disasterful game in which we beat ourselves, I predict 10-6 or 11-5. We’ll see the wildcard again.

PS – Its 10-9 after the FG. I think the Jets will edge it out with another FG late in the 4th. Let Sanchez play! Rex has a leash on him. Got to love the D! My fantasy team is loving Cromartie and the rest of the team.

  • Great! more wines for me to try, Awesome. (though to be honest, we’ve tried Petrigama Nero Di Troia before)

QOTD: hmm, not much in the NFL this year, apologies for that.

BTW: here’s the link to the song you were mentioning on the last wine: US3 Cantaloop- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JwBjhBL9G6U

  • yeah ravens

Nice…love the southern Italiano. Great, great values.

    QOTD: Bears guy. 4-12.

  • Found the Di Troia locally… will get a few bottles…

Sorry about your Jets, although you predicted they would lose…

QTOD: Ray-Duhs, heavy on the DUH! 4-12…

  • Unfortunately, I’ve never found any of the good wines you’ve reviewed or I would be all over the second one. Also, I’m wondering when the mead show will happen.

  • David M Roberts

My condolences tonight – the Jets looked more like the Paper Airplanes, so things can only get better as the season goes on – you can thank the Packers for softening up the Eagles for your team when they get there.

  • Prediction for my Lions, especially knowing that Stafford is out for a couple games most likely is 3-13. Easier to pick the wins. St Louis, Bears, and Jets. 🙂

Is a long season, it was like the Dolphins a lot of defense no offense, better luck against the Pats, i hope they opened up next week… tried tonight IRONY pinot noir Russian river valley, have u have it??? I was really trying to work on the sniffy sniff but i am such an amateur, love wine but never can identified nothing on them, i have some with a salad and was great but when paring it with chocolate, didn’t like the combo…. have you tried it is like 20 bones????

  • Sorry about the Jets… I don’t know too much about the NFL being an Aussie… who to go for… I like Chicago and Illinois makes some good wine… So I might go for the Bears! My Australian team is the Manly Sea Eagles and they are out… Also a big fan of the Wallabies and we just got done by the All Blacks even though we played a better game!

Can’t wait for a big week of shows G man!

your last lose will be to the steelers bub. sorry for the jets lose but sanchez looked scared. now then on to the wines the uva di troia sounds really really interesting.

qotd: steelers fan here with the victory yesterday, though not as strong as i would have liked, i feel comfortable saying we may be as high as 12-4 i think our loses will come to balitmore tenn no and probably the pats unfortunately. i think your jets are gonnna be right around your prediction but im going a little lower at 10-6 with the extra lose also coming to cinncy. but i do have you penciled in as the 6 seed in the playoffs.

    they don’t play at baltimore.

  • Anonymous

Ah yeah, some reason I was thinking that they were in the same division.

  • Beeper

I got all excited on the initial sack/fumble/recovery, too….bummer.

    QOTD: Vikings 9-7

  • Don Simpson

QOTD: Washington Redskins 8-8 with losses to Texans, Packers, Colts, Vikings, Titans, Giants away, Cowboys away, Jaguars.

Thats brutal they have to play the Packers and Vikings outside their conference in NFC and Colts and Titans in AFC. Tough schedule.

I’ve actually had a few gaglioppos (definitely the most obscure grape I’ve ever had). Once you get past the weight, they can be quite good, I think. Good with soup. Thanks for rolling with Calabria, and southern Italy in general.

QOTD: I’m feeling a 12-4 season for the Steelers, and they will be that 5th loss you’re looking for.

  • passion4wine

I hate Football.. I hope they all go away

Shoutout to Rafael Nadal.. Grandslam Year, one of 4 men to achieve this..

  • passion4wine

same story in Canada… will not import much and what they do import they double the price of it. Most good Canadian wine is sold out at the winery level and never makes it to the shelves. No online sales at all between provinces either..I’m in BC, they are the most strict. sux

Don’t have a favorite team anymore now that I live in the Mountain West. Never have been a Denver fan and Dallas does nothing for me. Have had a few Puglia wines and enjoyed them. Thanks for keeping things different.
