Good show, I liked the guest. She didn’t try to pretend that she knew more than she actually did.

    Oh yeah,

    QOTD: mmmn … salty

Well, I do have to wonder a bit about all of the seriously negative reaction to Gary’s vanishing act. After all, it is just a low budget (and how) TV show about wine. Are we really so dependent on WLTV that we go into this kind of withdrawal when it’s not there for a week? It’s really a pretty good testament to Gary’s drawing power and command of the media. Having said that, I do agree with one thing that has been said here. From what I can tell, WLTV is THE reason for Gary’s success in other arenas. The TV appearances, Sirius, the books, the seminars, none of it would have happened without WLTV. I can understand burnout, certainly, and MAYBE there is some of that. But a little more focus might be in order. Perhaps he could straighten out the office enough to get the couch back up under the window where it belongs and plop his butt down there with a few bottles of GOOD vino for a few relaxed episodes. I’d like that.

I wonder if she has paid for wine yet?

Welcome to Wine Library Therapy! I am your host Dr. Sigmund Food.

  • Anonymous

me, ill work part time for WLTV. they can pay me with wine.

I think Gary is having problems dealing with the fact that the over hyped Jets are totally gonna blow it this year.

  • I was watching a previous episode and you mentioned that you wanted some feedback about the quick six minute episodes. I love the idea, and I think it will give you some extra time to be a dad, which is the most important. I suggest maybe 3-4 of the short videos a week, and end the week with the good ol’ Laid Back Fridays. Especially during football season, it would be a great way to start the weekend with a Thunder kickoff.

By the way, congrats on nearing episode #1000, it will be an amazing accomplishment, and I hope to be toasting a glass to you on that day.

This is one of two comments that GV wrote regarding his illness:

Dont worry Gang, I got sick 🙁 on Monday , had to go to boston ect… will be back soon

  • Anonymous

GV are you all right?? I heard you are sick?! Get well man! We can wait!!

A good idea though, is to let K. Murph and Sasha make some shows, not just on wine, could be wine related, like talk about cellars, wine refrigerators and so on?

An idea for a show in the near future would be to try the same wine in different bottle formats, and see if your palate can spot any differences. It would be the MithBuster WL Show.

    Best wishes,

  • if you go to Jared’s blog and/or youtube site, there’s a video that he took when he was at the wine party, and the video has some still shots at the end. I e-mailed Jared requesting to have GV on his show as well….no response from him either (although Jared usually answers other e-mails….maybe they don’t like each other :P).

Gary, just give up gracefully, I am sure the wine trade will continue without you and you will find another moeny stream to keep you going

  • Anonymous

You forgot to mention the wine he sells though Cinderellla Wines!

Lets face it, Gary is busy making bones else whare!

Nice sentence, I don?t care if English is your second language. If you are going to insult us, learn how to type/write in our language.

Regarding the first part of your post I say THANK YOU, it seems as if some of these people have nothing better to do but be skeptical. The second part I believe is harder to tell than it seems. Without WL itself none of WLTV or his various other accomplishments would exist in the first place. Yes, WLTV has skyrocketed him into the limelight. He would not reach NEARLY as many people without this platform. However, he is a charismatic guy with ambition to match; nobody thinks he wouldn?t Have found another way to get his message out??!!

cellarrat5/Rogerbock, We are all here for our interest in wine not to fall out with each other over the way we express it. Stay on the path boys.

  • DaveAll

ha. love it. she was an all time disaster. (oops, her Mom is reading and will get me)

  • DaveAll

Well, put, cellarrat5. But this is what social media does, it builds or tears down – no even ground. This is collective thought – it feeds on each other. Fun to read and watch.

I completely agree, regardless of individual opinion I still enjoy the discourse that goes on here. We all are here posting for similar reasons, and no matter what I may say I have fun saying (or typing) it.

I’m tired of the attitude you’re representing. There are all these people stepping in trying to play ‘the voice of reason’, but you just *aren’t*. No one is hating on Gary. People are saying basically two things. First, that Gary needs to put up or shut up. Second, that WLTV has been a HUGE factor in his success with respect to growing Wine Library, securing speaking engagements and consultation gigs, and getting a book deal and a radio show.

No one has explained why either or those sentiments are wrong, or unreasonable.

He didn’t manage to draw such a huge audience just because he’s talented. Talent means very little without the hard work to back it up. It’s obvious to everyone that Gary has put a huge amount of work into WLTV over the past few years, but he *didn’t* get where he is today by delivering a third of the regular content on some episodes, and then missing a whole week of episodes altogether. This isn’t the first time this has happened of late, either.

I’ve said multiple times that I don’t honestly believe the show is going to die, but it’s kind of our job as the fans to keep him honest instead of making excuses for him like a bunch of sycophants.

  • Anonymous

Nah, I don’t think it’s an exaggeration at all to credit WLTV with a huge amount of the success he’s had in the past couple of years. In fact, Gary has always been the first person to say so. Hell, the catchphrase he ends every show with reflects that fact. The simple reality is that he wouldn’t have gotten a book deal, and he wouldn’t have gotten a radio show, if the people shelling out for them weren’t convinced that he would be able to bring the audience. And he wouldn’t have that audience if it weren’t for us.

Again, this is sketchy ground, because we just sit and watch and he has to actually make things happen. But, again, that’s just economics; a product is only as good as the consumers decide it is. At its best, I think we all agree that WLTV is great. At its worst — and I really do think the past month has been an all-time low — not so much.

Dear Gary, I hope you didn’t play with an electrical socket to gather some thunder… 😉 Seriously, if you are off for 4 or 5 consecutive days, please ask KMurph to make us a show (e.g. a Syrah blind tasting or whatever). She’s crazy enough to deputize for you during your absence. Get well soon!

  • Just Jack

Definitely agree that folks are being inpatient. Isn’t it the way most friends are though? Constantly valuing the friendship based upon a “what have you done for me lately” analysis instead of looking at the overall, big picture history. The other side of the ledger is, of course, that it doesn’t seem like there could be any good reason for a friend not to somehow take the 30 seconds it would take to let us know what’s up. But, it doesn’t follow that this means GV is a big phony or something. It just means he has something going on in his life right now. We have to do as you suggest CR5, and look at all the value he has brought to the relationship. Not just lately but over the last several years. Putting out a daily show has to be one of the most grinding, tedious commitments one could make. I doubt any of us could stick to it as well as Gary has.

  • Anonymous

Thank you! I could not agree more. always enjoy reading your opinion!

  • Cubatobaco (Ray)

If Gary had anything close to what I have had for the past week, I don’t blame him for taking off this long. I’m still fighting it. Feel good, relapse, repeat….ugh. Get better, GV!

I do like the idea of KMurph filling in during long periods of absence. Look forward to the old team back together soon!

  • hmm, being gone for two weeks on vacation in France, and now you start with this Allen 🙂
Have watched all the episodes, including the two GV says that 1000 will be it?

  • which impossible to join if you clicked wrong button

  • and how long vacations do danes take? 😉

  • my mouth have tasted CdP and Hermitage the last 4 days at the spots… I’m i heaven

  • so ten days without WLTV or in fact 16 since I’v been gona on vacation. But not without wine 🙂
