Why does it tell me I can’t watch this video in my country. I have even tried accessing it while in Canada, US, Italy, and France. No matter where I am it doesnt work? Any ideas?

Yay! My reward for already being online catching up with the Josh Greene eps!

QOTD: good question. Balance. Medium bodied reds mostly or acidic whites. I also enjoy simple sparkling wines too. We drink a lot of inexpensive rhones, chiantis, riojas etc.

    I’m in.

    great nerdy show…me like.
qotd…I’d have to say everyday would be something not too too big, but one with a great nose. I can sniffy sniff all day, but I can’t drink all day, else I fall down.

  • Tom

QOTD: must play well with food (that is a loaded answer as that implies a number of qualities…).

Part 2 was just as good or better than part 1. Peter is very gracious and generous — and obviously loaded with wine smarts. Thanks Gary and Mott…

  • Cath

I always feel happier after watching an episode of Wine Library TV. What an interesting one this was! Thank you, Gary. ๐Ÿ™‚

    What is going on?

  • Interesting, that is a different Chateaunef … will look for it ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Allan

Thanks, for this GREAT GREAT GREAT show!

Absorbed this show and i feel enlightened by it. I feel wiser on wine. ๐Ÿ™‚

Well/Soft-spoken guest Peter should be a regular, if this show goes on & on & on…. please bring him back soon. Such insight to “the game”. Loved his stories. Love his “way”.

Gary THIS interview shows you’ve grown as an interviewer. Serious stuff. Keep it up.

Qotd: Alot of different things, but more and more it’s elegance and of course balance (Pinot) (Gamay) (Riesling) etc.. Gettin’ old here. And sometimes i like to drink the more powerful stuff, like Bordeaux or Aussie Shiraz & Cab, Chile. I love it ALL, at various occasions indeed. Cheers, good question by the way, Ohhh yes, this show had it all. ๐Ÿ˜›

  • Allan

    Ohh forgot simplicity as well.

  • Allan

    You’re late

  • Allan

    Couldn’t agree with you more!

WLTV never lets me down! I’m hoping that someone out there will read this and maybe help me out…. I’m graduating in the Spring and really want to work in wine (distributor, winery, anything)! I am having a hard time and would love some advice or tips…please let me know or just reply to my comment! Thanks Vayniacs!

  • GermanChemist

    Gary,

    best interview ever!
BUT: You are loosing some credit by only mentioning the vayniacs from the US!

QOTD: smooth balanced complex medium bodied reds with alc. approx. 13.5 %

Totally enjoyed your visit with Peter. I rank him right there with Kermit. I will, over the next several days, go back over the Kermit interview and this one with Peter and try and absorb as much as possible. It is interviews like these and the one with Ms. Catena that get me pumped about wine and the wine industry. Thanks Gary, please keep the THUNDER rolling!

QOTD: The Pinot Noir, the Cabernet Sauvignon at this point in time are the wines I can drink everyday. Whether it be a Bordeaux, Burgundy, California, Washington grown, these all sing to me right now. I will venture away from time to time to keep trying other wines, but everyday it’s these two wines.

  • Anonymous

QOTD — for any wine, balance. That may be at higher levels for ‘special’ wines, but balance is always the key

  • Allan

Can i say one thing…. if this is the standard for this week we’re in for a #%ยค=% of a week! ๐Ÿ˜›

  • I like freshness in wine and after that … all blah blah blah …

  • Allan

    Well put NWIndianaDan. Nice.

Yes keep the THUNDER rolling indeed! :0)

G, Great, great guest. You can just see the passion and the appreciation Peter has for his producers and his wines. He’s obviously doing something he loves.

  • Rdwessels

Gary, absolutely love your show and it’s format, I am fairly new to the wine world (5 years), and learning soooo much from you and your show. I would like to make a small suggestion, the overhead intercom can become very distracting during interviews, and disrupts my PC speaker. Is it possible to have it off during taping? Thanks again and look forward to many more episodes!!! dvino

  • Great guest, should have him on more often.

QOTD: Really depends on what type of mood I am in, but usually something that is quality is the only requirement.

  • Serious couple of episodes, kudos, some might call them geeky, I call them essential viewing. QOTD: Balance and elegance – simple terms, yet still too exclusive for every day pleasure.

  • Anonymous

Thanks Gary and Peter for a very informative and enjoyable 2-parter!
QOTD: An Albarino, or a decent Prosecco, or a medium-bodied red (varietal depends on my mood).

  • Anonymous

QOTD: I think that from a drinking enjoyment standpoint that we may be in a golden age of wine. From a drinker’s perspective there is very good quality AND a wine over supply. I feel that I drink good (and inexpensive..$7-$10 ) wine during the week that is in the 90pt range. On the weekend I drink very good to excellent ($15-$35) wine in the 92-95pt range.

I may drink from 3 or 4 different styles in any given week (I have, however, been suspected of possessing multiple personalities ๐Ÿ˜‰ Right now my favorites are barolos, southern rhones, and Anderson Valley & Carneros pinots.

Thoroughly enjoyed your two episodes with Gary. You effortlessly entered into my top 10 people I’d like to spend time with.

Top 32? Great show! I’m was a Cab/Merlow man for many moons but now I’ve gone over to the Rhone side. I still love a well balanced Bordeaux blend now and then and thanks to GV I’ll try just about anything.

  • 2009 Cdp http://corkd.com/wine/view/117153-2009-domaine-de-la-souco-papaleQOTD: From Winedrinkers across the US????? It’s the internet Gary!!!!For a daily wine I’m looking for a scent and taste that changes all the time and not get flat opend three day. That would mean a well made age worthy one, preferbly a couple of years old and , yes, a rhone one with syrah in it because you just have to love the silk

One of the best interviews/shows ever. Pure downplayed thunder. Reminded me of the Kermit Lynch show. These guys are the Gandalf’s of the industry.

QOTD: I enjoy everything but for an everyday wine balance is even more important than in a ‘special occasion’ wine.

Reg. Part I: Not sure Parker & Co. are becomming less important. Perhaps to the nerds, but not to the masses. In fact I think the average wine drinker today has more awareness of ratings than ever and may even know a name like Parker. It’s like Obi Wan; he becomes even more powerfull after you kill him! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Why didn’t you rate them?? Too much respect? That’s fair enough, because Peter deserves the respect of not having his wines reduced to a number.

  • TitanicJack

Peter is very knowledgeable and Gary’s insightful interviewing has made for two memorable episodes of WLTV. I really enjoyed both of these. Thank you, Gary. QOTD: Full-bodied.

  • Okey, but I had to work, do the laundry, fix tha bathroom, nag on the grown boys to wash up and cuddle the girlfriend for a while. sorry, Won’t be late again ๐Ÿ˜€

Help out this CKC folks. I’d say just go live in a wine country and bug the folks in the know.

    QOTD: Truth

Gary, Really love your show best when you bring in terrific guests like Mr. Weygant.

Thank you for letting us sit in on some great chats~!

  • I’m only 25 and have only started to really seriously interested/nerdy with wine this…year to be honest. I think a question from earlier in the second part of this show helps me answer QOTD: What one wine changed my perspective on wine: Recently: Campo Viejo (2003?) Reserva and back when I was 21, a ~15 year old Silver Oak Cabernet Sauvignon. The Silver Oak was the first wine I ever got excited about. It had pepper & velvety mouth feel that helped me get into Zinfandel. The Campo Viejo taught me what QPR means: regardless of color, I want a dry!/balanced wine with a lot of layers of fruit and other flavors under $15 (or under $10, I’m a grad student…).
Good examples have been Bandit Pinot Grigio (holla back, box wine), Broadbent Vinho Verde, Viu Manent Single Vineyard Malbec, Vina Borgia Borsao Garnacha.
    Cheers, -Eric

Very nice, thoughtful guest. I shouldn’t be surprised, I suppose, but it seems clear that his importing business is mostly about building personal relationships with good winemakers. And his business is largely pre-internet, when that was much harder to do than it is now. Well done.

Gary, your interviewing skills are improving. Way to let him get his thoughts out there.

QOTD: When it comes to daily drinkers I want two things: QPR and versatility. A daily drinker wine has to be something you can just sip, or can pair with a wide variety of dishes, and obviously that doesn’t break the bank. It is a tough thing to find, actually.

  • Kylemittskus

This was, IMO, one of the top guest episodes you’ve had. Fantastic questions, amazing education, great, thoughtful guest, some choice wines. Excellent, excellent show.

    Nice… I think I would be a better 2 part guest but hey……I’m partial.

    QOTD: I like BIG!!!!

  • Smahlatz

QOTD : Look for character and new experiences with everyday wine. Thankfully, this can be had at lower price points – I’m not disappointed if something is unbalanced if it presents something new. If it isn’t something new – then my standards are obviously set a bit higher.
