  • Great show. You inspired me to tour a bunch of Italian whites when you did a Gavi episode and Verdicchio was one I tried and liked quite a bit.

    We are definitely dog people!

  • FullOnNelson

My favorite pest is the one that needs the least attention. Right now it’s my beta fish. His name is Beta.

Verdicchio. Must try. Thx for the heads up, especially since I’m in it with the whites right now.

  • Scottlmatthews

QOTD-I love Dogs. My dogs: Petrus and Piper (after the champagne) love Gary also-they listen to every show. Sorry, they are lurckers because they can not type…yet.

I love Verdicchio and as you pointed out, it’s a great varietal. I have three different Verdicchio wines in my cellar. Because it’s really good.

QOTD. I like cats. But not in my house.

  • LurkerKing

I be the lurks dat creeps on da vino. mic check 1 2 is this thing on?

Damn, I was already determined to go with a tuscan red with pasta tonight but now I’m really thinking of grabbing a verdicchio instead.

QOTD: either a really fat and lazy cat or a nice, compact dog that doesn’t screw around too much

  • EliseM

Great show been following WLTV for a while now (sorry took a while for your fame to spread across the ocean and onto my laptop in the Netherlands), verdicchio is becoming one of my fav’s recently.

Nerdy producer with GREAT quality: Andrea Felici (something like 20.000 bottles). I’m pretty sure it’s imported into the States somewhere….

  • William

Great show and great episode. I like it.

  • QOTD: I’m gonna ride my llama
    From Peru to Texarkana
    I wanna ride him good
    In my old neighborhood

In StL. Many cities have laws about max # of pets. Our limit is 3. Dogs + cats must be < 4. I doubt that it is strictly enforced though 😉

Hellz yea! Livin’ it up in doggie heaven … playin’ poker, smokin’ cigars, chasin’ cats … ah, the good life. Anyone else want to be reincarnated as a dog?

  • Eirikpm

QOTD: Cat! 😀 And my cat is named Clint! He is white as the snow, and was born, and still is, deaf!

  • right, let Allan be sorry instead 🙂

  • I don’t cheat by being on the mail list for new episodes .)

Hey Gary, loved the show today even though I don’t drink many whites. I hear that Italy has dozens of varietals of whites that most people have never heard of. QOTD: we are fortunate enough to live in a big enough house with alot of acreage that we can have 5 orange tabby cats. Big shout out to Tiger, Pumpkin, P.J., Felix, and Woody.

  • scottEJ

Always like to see a new (to me) varietal. Thanks.

QOTD: Dog person…although, I don’t have one and won’t until I have more space.

  • Gonna see if my local wine distributor carries Verdicchios… They definitely seem to bring the thunder!

QOTD: Dog… Big Dogs! Love the Golden Retrievers…

    Cheers!

  • Wineguider

Love it! What a great episode. Cement tanks, cool.

A question, can you expand on what you mean by “super nerdy?”

    Keep up the GREAT work.

Going to dinner tonight, will see if they have any Verdichio.

QOTD: Dog named Darwin is way better than my cat name Weber.

I have got to believe Wiseguys In CP will have it if you can’t find it anywhere else. They have the best selection of beer and wine of any store in the area. IMO of course.

  • Nice show… your palate is fancying acid lately…eh?

QOTD: DOGS!!! Heres to Maggie, Coco and Chanel. *I do like cats too (especially after picking up a kitten in Tulsa not too long ago). Hell, I just love pets!

Another QOTD: When will the Anaheim Ducks win their first road game? I hope it comes against Philadelphia tonight. Score 5-0 Anaheim (looks to the heavens as he predicts the score).

  • Globex

Verdicchio sounds like deliciousness!! Thanks for introducing them. I wish I knew about the free shipping offer of the Brunori back on the 13th.

QOTD: although I’ve been surrounded by dogs my entire childhood and adult life, I’m still searching for the one that will grab what I ask from the wine cellar, open/pour a glass of it and bring to me along with a plate of olives & cheese.

  • Allan

Me neither, just lucky i guess 😛

I’m inspired to go out and look for a Verdicchio. However, living in Canada makes it really hard to find the exact bottles that you have tried today. Do you have any tips for your northern wine buddies on a great place to find big selection. (Vancouver if you can)

QOTD: My favorite pet is my dog ROCKY aka Rockstar, Rockman, Rockface. He is a Pembroke Welsh Corgi. Love him!

Did you know that Wiseguys is owned by Wise Way? I couldn’t believe it and they are looking to open another Wiseguys. I usually take the hike to Orland Park, to Binny’s or Binny’s in Willowbrook, but will have to check out Wiseguys. Thanks.

  • They are great! thanks for the comment. Cheers!

QOTD: We have 2 beautiful Champion Samoyed dogs, Aslan and Breeze. They’re the best!!

  • Anonymous

QOTD: I like medium sized dogs. Ones that are big enough to be fun, but not so big that they take over the house.

  • ben from boston

    Dogs, dawg.

  • Stephan

Love Verdicchio, I was always surprised and happy whenever I had one, so I remembered that and ordered a Verdiccio Di Sardegna the other day at a restaurant in Miami (where I now live with my wife) and again it had so much more complexity then most P.G. or Sauvignons, high acid and because Sardegna is warmer, it had a lovely ripe fruit with it as well! So I could not agree more with you!
My wife’s dog is called Archie and I love him almost as much as her… However he does not think of himself as a dog 😉 and is a mix between Min Pin and Italian Greyhound.
Thankx for doing so many interesting shows, I’m addicted!

I had no idea Wiseway owned Wiseguys, but it makes sense being they are attached to one another and have the same name.

I love Binnys, but it is a trek.

QOTD: had a female hamster called Elvis. She had hamster kids with my friends hamster. They where so small they could squeeze out between the bars in the cage and ran everywhere. It was many years ago… 😉

  • I’m going to look for Verdicchio wines now! I can’t wait to try them, because from Gary’s tastings, I can see they are right up my palate.

We have not tried Verdicchio, but may have to after this episode. Thanks for the education on this varietal.

We love bearded collie dogs. Great pets!

QOTD: Unfortunately I have not had many pets in my life, and I was not given the privilege of naming the first family pet when I was a kid. That decision was deferred to my younger sisters, so I have to give a shout-out to the first pet my family ever had: a calico cat named (again, not my choosing) “Muffin.” There’s your shout-out, Muffin. Enjoy it.

  • Anonymous

I was surprised you said most people wouldn’t have had Verdicchio.. it’s quite popular in the UK, especially in the £5-10 price range.

  • Anonymous

GV – Great surprise with two home-runs! I haven’t had a Verdicchio in quite some time!

QOTD: I will have to say dogs! Big shout out to the late, great golden retriever, Casey!

  • Anonymous

Big surprise on two wines that bring thunder under $15 – nice! I’ve had one or two Verdicchios and I did like them both but, honestly, for some reason I haven’t sought them out.

QOTD: Okay, odd but interesting QOTD. I wasn’t allowed to have pets when I was growing up but when I got married, my wife already had two cats so I rapidly became a “cat person”. Now, it isn’t as if I dislike dogs, but cats are more compatible with our lifestyle. We both work and sometimes work late and a dog would be difficult. We also travel quite a bit. Cats are low maintenance and both of ours are wonderful and have great personalities. Oh, yeah, and when the first cats we had died, I cried like a frigging baby. So I guess I am hooked. So a shout out to Arthur and Chloe, the “original” pair and to the current cats, Raul and Mozart. By the way, Raul likes wine, too, although he is partial to white wines over reds. 🙂
