Line of the day – ‘Grandpa Jack is gonna like this’

It’s almost turning into the Gary and Mott show at this stage (with Mott going back to his old ‘yes man’ routine), but a typically entertaining quarter of an hour

Got to love thanksgiving, the three F’s, Family, Food and Football. Not hyped up like christmas really just about being thankful.

  • Oh man… why weren’t the Pilgrims Italian?! We could be eating pizza, spagetti, Ravioli, Eggplant Parmigiana, Lasagna, Chicken Parmigiana… THAT would be cool! Instead, we’re eating TURKEY… have you ever noticed that the words “British and “Cuisine” don’t go together?

  • BP

Sorry Allan, got you with a last second ‘Santonio Holmes’ move….Happy Thanksgiving to all my American friends….
GV, I’m lovin’ that CdP, had one of them and a Condado de Haza with my turkey for Canuck Thanksgiving

    Great show Gary!

Back to Basics is kickin’!!! I know this will sound dirty, but I really love seeing you eat…

Qotd: hmmm, in Denmark we don’t do the T-Giving, so I will go with Christmas eve instead. An Amarone called Le Ragose is one of my favourites, for the rich and fatty food all danes eat on that night of nights. Good health to you to GV & Mottster. Thanks for the show.

Keep on cookin’.. & cheers! 😛

  • ALLAN

Damn it.! How’s the oil spill comin’ ? 😛

  • ALLAN

    You rascal, you ;P

Ahhh…had this shipped to my parents in Oregon (can’t ship to WA)…was supposed to be delivered yesterday, delayed due to weather- and now my parents have left to drive up here and still no wine…sadddd…I wonder how many attempts fed ex will make before sending it back =(

  • Great Show (there are few duds). I loved it and am sad that I missed the boat on the pack of wines but I will get through it. Happy Thanksgiving to you, Mott and all the peeps in the forum!

This is a true pleasure to get watch this show and break from the monotony of my cubicle life.

Thanks again! p.s. will post my wines tomorrow but I just could not wait to watch.

  • Adam C

  • Neil

    Happy Thanksgiving Vaynernation!!!!!!!!

QOTD: I had the Monteviejo Lindaflor Malbec before in a gift pack and really enjoyed it – it would go well with turkey.

  • BP

Ahh, you must have seen me make a salad.

  • castello

    fun stuff

  • QOTD: Don’t do TG in Sweden so what can I say. Favourite wine on a thursday late november, let me look….one year ago I had Château Mont-Redon  Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2004. That was decent. But I certainly would like to with Chapotier Monier de la Sizeranne 1995 wich I had last new years. Oh my God that was good…

Korean beef jerky doesn’t scream Thanksgiving … but I’m hungry! Classic Vaynerchuk!
Wines seem great. Didn’t buy the secret pack though. I’m kind of on a buying hold as my house won’t contain all the wine that I already have.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Will get back on the QOTD. I’ve got some doozies lined up 🙂

Happy Thanksgiving all! I hope that you all are as lucky as I am and get to spend it with loved ones.

Smelling the tannins? The old timers will enjoy hearing that!

    GARY!!!

I completely agree that German Reislings are one of those varietals that “non-wine drinkers” can enjoy.
Unfortunately, I did not get the Thanksgiving Pack..but I have had the Lesec, Chat du Pape & liked it much!
Great article in Food & Wine!! Thats awesome..
    xoxo
QOTD: BEST? I happen to love the bubbles…and the best was Cristal..my friends and family pull out the big guns for the big holidays!! LOL (I know, I know..its a big name for big bucks..and theres a lotta great bubbles for less..but I happen to love Cristal!)

OK..we so need a Jets win!
Happy Thanksgiving to you, Lizzy, Misha & your whole family! xoxo

QOTD: Best Thanksgiving wine I’ve had was made by Uncle in the 80’s. Old School Italian guy who had one barrel in his cellar.

Have a great Thanksgiving GV. Give my regards to Lizzie, Sasha, AJ and the rest of the VAY-NER-CHUK family. Salud.

  • Zino

QOTD: We don’t have Thanksgiving day in U.K. but could introduce it at home and have a great reason for bringing out a high calibree wine. Thanks for the tip and the new word – I’ve been using it today.

  • Don Simpson

Gary — The skin is my favorite too, its ridiculously good… And stuffing, love it.

I’ll report back later this weekend on the QOTD. Heading to my fiance’s familys house in Delaware tomorrow morning. There will be lots of wine consumed this weekend!!!

QOTD: I always go with pinot noir and gewurtztraminer. However since the guests don’t really like the gewurtz (they say they prefer red), I am opening the Alsace Gewurtz with my leftovers on Friday. I prefer a nice Burgundy but I go back and forth each year between French pinot and US pinot. Still undecided what comes out of the cellar tomorrow. Recently I opened our Panther Creek pinot noir and I wish I had more for tomorrow.

  • rwino

Happy Thanksgving Gary to you and yours and the whole crew at WL. I’m thankfull this year for WLTV, has been a lot of fun and educational.

  • MGMWHINO

    qotd -Acacia Beckstoffer pinot, 2002.

Not with you on the Malbec – good smell, nailed it with chocolate covered cherries, good strong tannins but bitter finish. Not delicious.

  • NY Pete

hey Chris, have a great Thanksgiving!

    you too GV …

  • Anonymous

    Same to you and thanks.

  • Good one.

QOTD: since I don’t celebrate this specific holiday (as it is particular to the USA) I will say I haven’t had wine on thanksgiving.
I am however waiting on a bottle of Nebbiolo 2008 for the weekend.

Have a great holiday everyone, those of you who do celebrate, Cheers!

  • Mott

    You too Pete!

First off, this is a little scary. I am going to two Thanksgiving celebrations tomorrow so I got three wines to share with everyone. I didn’t get Malbec but I got St. Christopher 2009 Piesporter Goldtropfchen Riesling Spatlese and the 2005 Domaine du Galet des Pape Chateauneuf de Pape and I thought it was a crazy coincidence. Can’t wait to break them out tomorrow.QOTD: This is actually easy for me because most wines I have had on Thanksgiving I didn’t care for or I was too young and wasn’t drinking. 2009 Beaujolais Nouveau, fantastic year! Just tried the 2010 which has an odd smell but good taste. It smelled like vinegar…which worried me but it was fine. Hopefully you’ll cover the nouveau I’d be interested to see your take on it.

  • Larry M

Enjoyed your video comments but won’t open these until tomorrow. One quick observation: the joy of Nouveau Beaujolais on Thanksgiving is that many guests love it, which is nice – and it keeps them away from the REALLY good stuff. A great example of “distract them with shiny objects.”

  • Cubatobaco (Ray)

Great show! Love the personal feel, as well as, the one-on-one with Mott today. Good job, Mott!!!

Man, I’m watching this and can’t wait until tomorrow’s meal(s). I’m craving my grandma’s sweet potato puff (brown sugar caramelized on top). I’m sure my mom will eat all of the cranberry sauce. I mean she used cranberry sauce sandwiches…lol. I’m cornering the skin market…forget being bad for you. Did I hear cigars??? You know I’m having a few after my favorite meal.

    QOTD: Will answer tomorrow…

Have a Happy Thanksgiving Vaynerchuk Family and to all of you on here!

    QOTD:

  • Cubatobaco (Ray)

    Happy Thanksgiving, Pete!

  • Cubatobaco (Ray)

    Happy Thanksgiving, Randi!!!!

  • Cubatobaco (Ray)

    Happy Thanksgiving, bro!!!

  • Cubatobaco (Ray)

    Amarone…yumm!!!!

GV-typically like your stuff. Tried the Malbec tonight…..disappointed. If I didn’t know this was a $40 bottle that you recommended, I would have thought this was a Vendage that someone took off an airplane. I found it harsh and unbalanced.

Nevertheless, Happy Thanksgiving and looking forward to the Pape.

Gotta love the homemade juice! My uncle lived right next to a winery, grew Zin in his backyard and barreled it in his toolshed.

  • SniffySmith

I just realizeed I replied to the wrong post. This is what happens when you start your Thanksgiving a day early. In any case, Happy Thanksgiving Don!

Happy Thanksgiving to you Gary, Mott, K-murph, and the whole WL gang!

A very special happy Thanksgiving to my fellow Vayniacs, you guys and gals all ROCK. Your energy is what got me hooked.

QOTD: The wine I remember is the first one I brought to the table that got the “old guys” to flip out on, and gave me some street cred in the family wine circle. 2005 Wolff Vineyards (Paso Robles) Petite Sryah.

    Happy Thanksgiving Ray!!
    Enjoy it all!
