Great show Gary. First time commenter, watching past episodes for months. Don’t even turn my TV on anymore. Newbie to the wine world but you are a great help in me better understanding wine which I have really taken a great passion towards.
    Thanks.

  • There we go… Cali BRINGING THE THUNDER once again…

    BTW, it’s call a HONEY SPOON 😉

    QOTD: Give me RED…

    P.S. Go Ray-Duhs…

  • Anonymous

totally! alsace & champagne all day

  • Anonymous

Hey! Happy Chanukah. Well white wine goes great with donuts, and latkes.
    P.S. Where is the menorah?!!

  • Anonymous

“Heavier” rose from Tavel…..? Oh, I get it (no I don’t)!!!!!!!

  • Eagleputt

Hmmm. I said in earlier post Pats 94 – Jets 3. Not far off right now at 45 to 3. Sorry man, being a fan of the Seahawks I know how this kind of score feels.

  • NY Pete

what an ass kicking we took tonight.

  • Anonymous

    Ouch.

I drink some white wine all year, somewhat less in the cold weather.

  • Anonymous

Hey happy holidays! you may need a good bottle of wine after tonight’s game.

QOTD: I am trying to expand my palate so I am up for drinking anything this winter.

  • Anonymous

Hey happy holidays everyone! Gary you may need to find a good bottle of wine after tonight’s game.
QOTD: I am really just trying to expand my palate so I am up for any type of wine this winter.

To each his own, but I can’t see what difference the season makes…it is always pretty much the same temp indoors (’cause I have a heater & air conditioner, ya see) which is where I consume the vast majority of my wines. And even the coldest bottle of champagne (for instance) won’t be cold for very long after you drink it; your body warms the wine (mine peaks out at around 98 degrees), not the other way around. On the other hand, I haven’t drunk chilled wine in an igloo, either! ;-D

Holy cow. That Jets game was brutal. What happened to Mark Sanchez, he looked like a rookie tonight. Telegraphing his passes, multiple interceptions, delay of game. The Patriots look damn hard to beat right now….

Hopefully Gary is taking the loss okay, that was a tough one.

  • Anonymous

    Hey.

QOTD: Definitely. Rhone whites, White Bordeaux, Chards. Big whites are equally as important as big red in the colder months.

  • Anonymous

    Which Cremant?

  • Hey everyone and Gary Vee. Sorry about those Pats, GV. Bummer!

QOTD:not really much white wine. Too cold. I prefer reds, (beer), and fortified wines.

  • Anonymous

Whites are definitely still being drunk.

I guess I must be subconciously absorbing too much of your shows because I had a dream about you coming to British Columbia and visiting at my house. (Or was that real?)

Definitely drink white wine this time of year. In fact, the last two wines I’ve had have been whites. One was an awesome Savenierres, the other was a ’99 Chateau Musar Blanc that blew me away. Both are rich, warm whites, so maybe that’s the key for the colder times of year.

  • Behaved yourself this weekend? 🙂

  • Especially, when a white shows up at your noodle factory. Imagine that…..

Hi Gary, I love white wine but since a month or two, I drink red way more. It is so much better when its cold outside! I’m crazy for the Shubert pinot noir(marrion’s vineyard), and I tried barolo because of you and loved it!!! And it was a $35 bottle (Albe 2005). I am accumulating the 2004 brunellos in my cellar and also super tuscans 2007.
Thank’s a lot for doing what you do, you’re great! I will buy Chateau Branaire 2000 for christmass, it costs $175 here in Montreal!!! Sorry about the Jets!

Hi Gary, white wine season is over for me, I really am into reds lately. I tried Barolo bacause of you and….. I loved it! Thanks a lot for what you do, you’re great!

  • Yep, their Nebbiolo for me is one of the best wines of that winery. Specially in terms of value for money. About 10 USD in Mexico.

  • Watched after the game hang in there Gary!

Great show love the bags love old school Chalone coming on strong. Ironically I just used one of their cheaper wines to cook with over the Thanksgiving holiday and was surprised at how much I liked to drink it even many days after the fact. Time to take Chalone for another spin, it’s been a while!

QOTD: I do drink more red in the winter but I still drink a healthy percentage of white especially when you factor in the bubbles.

  • What a disappointment from the LA Cetto Chardonnay, they make a great Nebbiolo though (their white wines suffer from Big-Cellar-Syndrome almost always).

QOTD1: Yes I am a white wine drinker, year round.
    QOTD2: Hey! ( waves hand ).

  • You were battin’ 1000 today, sorry about the Jets, but you called that too. I like to try whites from time to time, but my wife has gone red only. Especially with Chardonnays, too many Cali butter-bombs for her. I’ll definitely give the Chalone a try. Thanks for the show, to you, Mott, and K-Murph.

More importantly, WHICH Champagne (I’m gonna want to avoid it)??????

  • Anonymous

I used to lean towards reds especially in the colder seasons, but I seem to be drinking more and more white.

    Have a great week everybody.

  • Prison?? Ha! that’s funny.

  • Anonymous

Wow I could really see how uneasy you were about the Jets game it was screaming out of your body language. Nice Spidey sense! I was also very disappointed but yet in awe seeing a Hall of Fame QB perform.
Anyways I have a 2008 Far Niente Chard in the fridge ready for the arrival of my Farger (Goldmember voice) during Christmas time. How bout them apples?
P.S. Went to Wal-Mart @ 12:15am to buy Inception had to get my mind of the game.

  • Randall! You’re back! Yipppppeeeeee! 🙂

  • QOTD: I drink red and white wines all year round, is more about what I’m eating or in the mood for. Great show Gary, Chard is coming back strong!!!

  • Anonymous

QOTD. Drinking white wine has nothing to do with time of the year. So, yes I do.
I can’t imagine a descent meal without champagne, white and red wine.

Nice show but I would prefer a higher price range.
Gary, give us a top end chardonnay tasting.

  • ALLAN

You know what, I really tried, but it just didn’t work out…. ;P

  • Anonymous

Nice show, though still waiting for the brown bag episode with european rieslings.

QOTD: Sure, just yesterday had some Chablis with a salmon dish in one Italian place. Chablis was wayyyyy to cold. Almost 30 years old restaurant and still totally unaware of proper serving temperatures for wines, funny.

  • QOTD: sure, just had a good Falanghina yesterday…. I don’t necessarily relate wine to weather, I guess whites should be drunk all the year

I have a question for you Gary, never thought to offer wines also outside of US? I would be excited to try your offers…..
Second and last, have you scheduled an italian trip in the future?

  • Anonymous

QOTD: Definitly. Just had a Rheingau Riesling the other day.

  • ouch that hurt 3-45????

  • Anonymous

Yes, I drink white wine all the time! 😀

  • QOTD: Yes, but less

  • Randall

Yes I am! But my “like” button is Not…

    ;-}

I must’ve switched systems with wayno in the interim,
he could never get his “disgust” like button to work…

  • Randall

    Let’s calm it down, missy…
Your package is on the way soon.

    🙂

p.s. I STILL regret having chicken
and not seafood w/ that chard…

  • Anonymous

Brady is better than Sanchez, no doubt about it. I won’t be surprised if the Pats win the Super Bowl. Hey Gary, why not buy the Pats? 😉
QOTD: I’ve just had a 5-year-old late harvest Chardonnay. It was kind of SPECIAL (if you know what I mean).

  • Yes, that’s what I thought. They don’t call you “They know me by the trail of my dead and empty wine bottles” Allan for nothin’

    ;P

  • Anonymous

Amazingly you weren’t too far off

  • Anonymous

    Hey Gary,
Don’t really drink red wine this time of year, it seems to cold. I drink more of the rustic, warm type of wines- Amarone, Cabs, Barolo. Sorry about those Jets!! How about those LEAFS 5-4 shootout win over Washington.

  • Yeah… we miss Wayno and his disgust with Disqus! Allan is keeping the thunder in the mid-term though…. And Melba’s keeping you both humble. 🙂

Agree with you on QOTD -I drink about 4 reds to every bottle of white, but love seafood and chicken with Chard, SV or bubbles.
    Cheers!

  • Anonymous

QOTD: Whites all year round, yes. Less fruity ones, but still love the acidity. Reds get a little more play in the cool weather – roasts and braises just cry out for the depth. But it’s always summer in my head and on my palate.

  • Anonymous

WOW!!!!!!!!! 45 – 3 That is an ASSSSSSSS Wooooopppppp””””nnnnnnnnn!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now come all the apologists, “Oh we are all banged up”, “We didn’t have our best players playing the game” etc., ect., Blah, Blah, Blah! No matter what way you look at it, the JETS had their proverbial “ASSSSSS’s” handed to them!

  • Anonymous

Excellent Show GV! You really brought the “THUNDER” back. Really enjoyed it a lot. It started a little slow, but, you really warmed up and brought it hard. Thanks Brother and I am (we are) very glad you are back. I be like’n the Chards and will be looking for the Chalone.
QOTD: YESSSSS! Even though I prefer the reds all year, I don’t drink my wines by the season.
QOTD 2: You are the MAN!!!!!!!! I am so glad I found you awhile back. HEYYYYYY!!!!!!:)
