    Loire, Oh YES man!

    Pthhh! action *fart*

Enjoyed it; QOTD: YEEEEEEHAAAWWWWWWWW!!!!! Le Ragose 2006 Amarone!! Great wine.

(Love it when you cross your legs and talk about wine) πŸ™‚

gary is been committed to wine way back when he work at the liquor store with his dad so stop harassing him idiots!!!

  • Some people might not be getting the amount of wine knowledge that has been building up here over the last few years…

Xmas wines: we are thinking about gruner veltliner, langhe nebbiolo and port

  • QOTD: Washington Hills Late Harvest Riesling.
I tried this at a tasting and it didn’t seem to offer a lot, but when I tried it with pizza, it really opened up some lovely traits. I’m thinking a bird or a pork roast will make good things happen here. Anyone care to offer their opinion on this pairing?

  • Loire Valley is the best place in the world for wine.

QOTD: Haven’t decided yet but I’m going to dig deep in the closet and find something that the rest of the wine drinking fam hasn’t even heard of.

    Christmas is Friday!

    QOTD: Dead-black american cab.

    Great show as always Gary

    QOTD:
Xmas eve – chinese takeaway – demi-sec sparkling chenin from the Loire
Xmas day – Aus Pinot Noir (versatile with Turkey and ALL the trimmings), Big and punchy Spanish Red from Utiel (Bobal grape) amongst others with the cheese. Too good!

Good show Gary, cab francs are at the top of my list. How about next some from the US? Washington state makes a few good examples as does California. Would love to see an older Pride included. The Saumur sounds like a decent value, what do think of its aging ability? I’ve had the Herault, think it has closed down somewhat now. Give it a few more years.

    go eagles!

  • Pitch perfect! I loved this show (it seems to me that you appear top of your game immediately after the spottiness, or paucity of shows).

QOTD: I will be serving a couple bottles of Marcel Lapierre Morgon 2009 (compliments of your show) and one bottle of Chartogne-Taillet! I am a “baby baller!”

p.s. Lets go Ducks!! We need to rebound against Boston Bruins!

SQOTD: Also, I want to apologize for my seemingly errant comments last episode, as I had a ‘disqus’ issue. My first genuine problem. Those comments were responses to others in the comments, as I trolled the message board. Funny how you talked about that today on the show.

  • Insp81

I absolutely cannot believe that anyone can be critical of your commitment to the wine world Gary. We should all be blessed with your enthusiasm, passion, charisma and vision for whatever it is we are doing in our lives; all of which are recipes for success.

  • sounds interesting. I had a great Riesling from the Rheingau with a hearty chicken chili and it was great. Good luck with that!

  • Anonymous

That sounds delicious! Although I would want the Late Harvest to have some sort of acidity to it. The food you may prepare does not seem to be too fatty, but I imagine if there was too much fat on whatever you will serve the Late Harvest may be a little too much (for my palate anyway). Prost and I hope your meal turns out well!

Good show, I liked the fact that you took the commenter?s suggestion to heart; after all, that is not far away from where your Palate lives (or use to live??) GV! Hope all the Vayniacs out there are staying sane during the holiday season, whatever you are celebrating may it be with good wine, good company and good tidings!

QOTD: I have no idea what the family is serving. My guess would be one of our wines (probably a Zin); however they have been on a white kick recently.

  • ALLAN

    Don’t think twice it’s allright

  • ALLAN

Perfect to cut right through the fatty foods we enjoy on xmas eve in my country.

Good to see you back Gary, I hope your travels were successful and fun.

QOTD: Between me and my father we have purchased 14 wines for the Christmas season. We have everything from Champagne to Port. The wine I am probably most excited about is a blend from Mendoza 60% Malbec 10% Cab Sauv and can’t remember the rest off the top of my head. But we will be drinking that with Turducken and I can’t wait to see how it pairs. I’ll fetch the wine at some point and reply to this post with the exact stats on the wine.

  • ALLAN

Lookin forward to your posts Fman πŸ™‚ merry xmas!

  • Cliftonchet

    Gary,

Congrats to the Jets! Would love a show on wines from “Pic St. Loup”, Languedoc
reds. I understand you are running a business, and love Wine Library TV.

Giants game harkens back to Giant loss to 49ers in 2002…knucklehead Shockey.

    Sorry Mott.

    Peace,

  • ALLAN

    I Agree 100000

  • ALLAN

Please post how it was, when you’ve tasted it. Your comments matter to me. BRING THE THUNDER!!!! And Merry Xmas!

  • ALLAN

I like it, sounds goooooooooood! How about BrΓΌndlmayer, Aldo Conterno, and Niepoort???

  • I recently tried a Chinon for the first time and it wasn’t quite my cup of tea. It had good acidity and I liked the green flavors I was getting but it did have bit of a metalic taste that I couldn’t get past. I will try again because I am also a big Cab Franc fan.

QOTD: We’re going to be having Duck so we’ll probably have some Heart & Hands Pinot Noir and Sheldrake Point Riesling. They just go so well with Duck!

  • Curt

Just like good wine, life is all about balance. Keep up the good work Gary. Momma dukes is coming over to cook turkey dinner for the family. I’m gonna crack open an ’09 Morgon Beaujolais followed by an ’04 Clio.

Great to see you back as always, take whatever time you need I think you’ve earned it by far. Hope all is well.

qotd; A lot of sparklers and ports.

Don’t worry about some of the negative comments Gary. The vast majority of us understand that life and business can get busy and also know that you are HUGELY committed to this show and your fans. I’ll even step out on a limb and say that the Vayner Lurker Nation is behind you! Good show today. Thanks for all your work and education!

QOTD: Likely a Zinfandel – maybe Ridge Geyserville, a German or Canadian Riesling, who knows what else…still thinking about it. There’ll be a big selection of wine that my family end up drinking over the holidays.

Christmas dinner is 1993 Dunn Howell Mtn. cab with a big fat steak. Christmas day is most likely to be some of that Marion Valpolicella with a smoked turkey.

How about OUR Jets … πŸ™‚

Dude … was that your crew next to Fireman Ed in Pitt yesterday?

GV – I think you’ve shown plenty of commitment through book releases, radio shows, company lauches and baby births, there has been a generally steady stream of WLTV goodness. Thanks anf keep it coming!

QOTD – TBD, though I am leaning toward Spain or Southern France.
