  • We don’t underestimate your passion and comittment towinelibrary TV,not at all. The fans is just restless, as all fans are, time to time.

Did you just say that Natalie Portman is the thing? I agree 😉

    IE 6????? grandpa webreader??? Figures why I don’t have a problem 🙂

QOTD: Traditional Swedish Christmas table is a smorgasbord (buffé) that requires Christmas beer. But if one was to serve wine and maybe I will, it will be a syrah, preferably a 5-10 year old. Ideally from Hermitage.

  • get of IE 6 🙂
and its only 10F now, not to bad

  • LurkerKing

I drink wine because Alexander the Great drank wine.

  • I thought he is a courtside fan on the sideline fan running the field kind of guy.

  • W!! WLF? Vayniacs, nothing else, right! 😀

  • before or after?

  • actually I miss more then one woman here. There are to few. WLT is aprox 98% male comments. But women drink more wine, what’s up with that?

  • QOTD: Going to Turkey (weather-permitting), so hopefully something Turkish and delicious!

Hang in there Gary! We’re still here and with you!!!

  • Hey Gary

Good show, though a bit of a disapointment with the wiens. Have we ever had a WLTV show where Loire Cabernet Franc has showed well?

QOTD: I’ve no idea yet. I live in Hong Kong, but am heading home to Australia for Christmas where I’ve got quite a bit of wine cellared. I’m looking forward to having an explore and explore and seeing what interesting bottles I can find to open…

    Cheers
    Andrew

Nice to get a little longer ep for change, even though the wines didn’t live up to their expectations.

QOTD: Typical Finnish christmas dinner isn’t very fond of full bodied reds, so I’ll be opening Drouhin Moulin a Vent, some Rioja Crianza and probably some Chablis, also Kopke 20yo Tawny for dessert.

  • DaveAll

Actually good that you are busy – not sitting around entertaining yourself in front of the camera. smile. Glad you are committed to keep doing these though… I look for them most days, but know 12-15 shows a month is a lot to maintain.
Quiet Christmas I am hoping – Petite Verdot might get opened Christmas eve….
DISQUE would not work on firefox today. but ok on IE 6.
    Merry Christmas everyone!

  • I have no clue. I barely drink and want to surprise the parents with a wine. We are eating some slow roast lamb this year. Anyone has a good wine that fits that? I live in the Netherlands and we barely have any wine selling companies! That is making it even worse finding something good in my opinion 🙁

  • nick S

Dennis, all depends on the type of crunch, sauce, condiments you’re going to use. In general though i would probably recommend a Spanish red wine from Ribera del Duero. It goes well with traditional roasted lamb.

Don’t say you can’t find it in the stores. You got enough supermarkets (even Albert Heijn) where you can get these wines for under 15euros. Good luck!

  • Geoalb

Nice show, I was surprised as well, about these wines. But if you have personal and business issues that keep you from doing this show as often then people have to understand that! WinelibraryTV is not your ENTIRE life!

QOTD: Decisions, decisions, decisions… We are have a Lobel’s (dry aged) Prime Rib for Christmas Day dinner. So, I’m thinking maybe 2001 Spottswoode Cabernet or a 2002 Joseph Phelps Backus Cab.

  • RuthR

    Happy holidays!!
    QOTD:
Hoping for a nice hot Xmas in Sydney, will mostly be drinking
    Vermentino from Sardinia
    Riesling from Alsace
Gruener Veltliner from Austria, some of my favourites.

  • Gary for sure not having the everyday or so episode as happened these last days is sad but we all know (well, almost all) your committment to the show and I really appreciate that..
I really hope you’ll keep going with the show in the future, maybe you’ll make some adjustments but what cares is the show and you

QOTD: Xmas wine list is definitely still to be decided, we are only 3 people and one don’t drink that much…This is sad in a way as not many bottles will be poured, but I think we’ll start with a sparkling Franciacorta and then moving to a red, I’d say a Brunello..

    Hi GV!! Glad you?r back!!

You don?t have to explain yourself for the number of shows in December, we can wait, it?s hard I must admit? Anyway, there is always the flip-cam to save us, when you are away, and can tape a 5 minutes short show.

QOTD: On Christmas day probably a Cabernet from Chile or a Malbec from Argentina, cause my dad loves them, as well as Amarones. I should bring an Italian bottle, maybe a Nebbiolo.

Most important will be next Tuesday, the 28th, my birthday!!! I surely will be going out for dinner, and I?m thinking on opening a Castello di Ama 2005, Chianti Classico.

  • laurensNL

Happy holidays to you too Gary!

    QOTD:
Serious dinner coming up. Going to pop some wines that were discussed here: a Jeroboam of Chartogne-Taillet Cuvee St Anne, Denogent St Veran 2007 and Lapierre Morgen 2009!

  • Anonymous

    Good job Gary. 😉

Hey GV great great great great and needed victory. Hope to repeat next week in Chicago. I?m planning to drink a lot of old world wines for the Christmas holidays. My palate is changing I?m starting to gravitate away from the fruit bombs and going into a more ?adult? palate.

QOTD: a 2009, Charvet, Moulin A Vent cos i wanted to try a Beaujolais cru that was a tannic as possible! Also a Von Buhl, 2009 Grosse Gewachs (grand cru) Jesuitengarden Riesling. Also maybe a Domaine des Amadieu, Cotes du Rhone Villages, 2009

Qotd: It’s more like what wont I be drinking for the holidays! Just kidding everything in moderation. BV Tapestry 05 & 07 also some TVine Zin. Got to have some bubbles just haven’t decided which ones yet.

  • Nice to see you back in the Chair, Great choice in doing the Cab. Franc Show. Since I have a family tradition in serving DUCK as an X-Mas dinner, A Left bank Bordeaux is what I will be serving, Something with a higher MERLOT percentage.
NOW!!!! Let address your end comment about the Jets vs BEARS. Will you be in town for the game? if so, Here is what I propose, Jet’s win I’ll Buy you an XL Chicago Pizza, Bears win YOU BUY!! Either way I think this should be a Fun Game, Best of luck to you and your team. Happy Holidays to your family and you.

  • Cordell_watkins

QOTD: The holiday open house party we attend does not serve the best wine. I will either sip a beer or I will bring a white wine that I think my hosts would enjoy. We don’t celebrate the holiday but the open house gathering is fun for those who celebrate and those who do not. We’ll watch sports and eat snacky snacks.

  • Oakmon’s BF

I think it?s a good thing that you?ve expressed your opinion here. This is what the comments are for. You gave your reasons and a sense of the passion you feel over this. This is all good. The only problem I had was ?Let?s see if you will take the advice.? You?re implying that you think Gary should change the show that so many people enjoy because one person has a problem with it. I don?t agree. Many people watch the show because they like wine and they like Gary. A big part of Gary?s likeability is his passion. Many of the things he likes are not the things I like such as professional wrestling, action figures of character?s I?ve never heard of or sugary breakfast cereals. But I appreciate that he includes them on the show because being uninhibited is part of being Gary.

  • Oakmon’s BF

I entered my preceding message as a response to Rsaikowski. It made more sense in that context. Is this a Discus problem?

  • ALLAN

    *blows a kiss* :OP

  • Wow, this is the first time having watched GV for the past 6-7 months. Man GV you are really phoning it in. You seem so tired… I’ll check back in in another 6 months. Hopefully your spirit will come back.

  • QOTD;Kramer semi-sparking Muller-Thurgau

    GET A ROOM!!!!!!! :O

  • BillyClude

One of the things I love about your show is the non-wine related topics you venture into, including football (and I just watched your Jets beat my Steelers). If I just want dry wine advice there are magazines and shows aplenty out there.
    Stay true Gary

  • BillyClyde

And it’s BillyClyde (although BillyClude has a certain ring to it)

Thanks for the Cab Franc show. I have been trying a bit of the Loire Valley wines lately. Have been enjoying the whites a lot. Sorry that the reds didn’t show well. Makes me a little leery to go out to the reds. Nice show, you do look a little down even with the Jets pulling one out. Bears just clinched last night and I’m on a high for that but I am a Steelers fan also, so congrats on that.
QOTD: I Plan on having a Lapierre Morgon and a Sancerre.

  • Anonymous

I am drinking an 05′ Barbaresco right now and it is fantastic. A Lot of good ripe fruit and very smooth, nice tannins. The dryness is just right for me. That 2000 I’m sure will be great! Nostrovia!!!!
