90/100

Line of the day – ‘This wine reminds me of a georgeous mum that ran the household back in the 1800s.’

With a line like that, this episode has to score 90 points.

  • QOTD: I’ve probably seen about 40-50. During the long December break I watched a lot of back episodes. Also, if I am enjoying a certain wine I will look for it in past episodes to maybe learn something about it.

I’ve seen almost all the shows.

qOTD: About 800. Since around ep 40 and then I’ve missed a lot lately. Hoping for Jets-Packers SB.

QOTD — all of them, as I went back and viewed the shows that were done before I started watching, first on youtube in Sept 2007 and then here in October

And… an answer to your QotD: 971.

    QOTD: somewhere around 500.

  • QOTD: Probably between 150 and 200.

  • Great Show. Love Barbera. 725 Shows

GV- As an Original Vayniac (wristband to prove it), I’ve seen over 900 of your shows and some of them I’ve watched more than once! Let the good times keep rolling. THANK YOU!!

  • Go FULL un-Lurk with a picture 😉

  • Around 750 WLTV’s – maybe more having gone back and watched some of the old ones.

Love the first few shows too – the total reserved GV. Not Sir Gary reserved, but low key, mellow. But as it got rollin’ the thunder took over. 1,000 is so close.

    1,000 is

  • Might have to seek out that first Barbera. I know you said that you’re a fan of Vietti, but whenever I’ve spent the dollars to get some, I’ve always been underwhelmed…

QOTD: 800 MINIMUM!!! Thank you. Seriously.

  • Anonymous

Only about 30 so far. It’s definitely the highlight of my time spent on the internet lately.

  • Anonymous

    Probably about 850

Great show btw. I love Barbera!

  • Tom

QOTD: I’ve been watching since episode 100. I’ve missed maybe a dozen or two shows over that time, but I have also gone back and watched some of the early ones — so maybe 850.

  • Anonymous

    qotd..probably all but 60-70, maybe?

  • Loved the Burger reference, thanks GV! Although I do love well crafted pizzas…

I owe a lot to Barbera D’ Alba and Asti, as they were my first wines I ever really got into, sparking my interest in wine.

QOTD: 130 but all of ’em in my heart!

  • how about “hook, line and sinker” by Jon Brion. Exceptional tune from a genius. Worth a youtube, I will make it easy for you:

  • Name three Cali Barberas for me to check out on my road to five hundred wines (on my blog), Castello.

p.s. you are a bada$$! (that is like Ke$ha style, only way classier!!!!!!!!).

  • MGMWHINO

QOTD – since about episode 300.

  • QOTD: over 800. I’ve been watching since about episode 50 but have stopped watching *any* episode with a guest in the last year (except if the guest is Gary’s father).

Keep up the good work on these taut episodes.

A GV pronunciation pet-peeve: d’Alba should be pronounced as if the apostrophe were not there; i.e. 2 syllables (“DAL-ba”) *not* 3 (“DEE Al-ba”). The same applies to d’Asti.

  • Matt

QOTD: Started around episode 350. It’s really appreciated and impressive to see that you’re still at the top and so passionate about this. Thank you very much for all those years and many more to come!

Great show Gary. QOTD: 971, no joke

  • im such an ardent supporter of vietti that i became sad when your face did not light up after tasting the scarrone…that is one of the few vineyards in piedmont growing barbera exclusively that i believe should be designated “cru” status. another insane value in barbera is cavallotto’s bricco boschis the 05 still drinks like a baby…ive only been watching for about a year, but cut me some slack im only 23!

  • I’ve been watching since 2008 and I’m guessing I’ve seen about 400 episodes.

  • Neil McNamara

I’ve been watching for a long time first as a lurker then began to post comments. I’d say about 830 shows. I’d post more but trouble with disqus sometimes foils my plans…..

  • Anonymous

    QOTD: 300, maybe more.

    QOTD: Almost 600

FYI…Great small winery in California in Fairplay (Sierra foothills) called Latcham makes a big, yummy Barbara!

GV – been addicted to your show for the past couple of years, so perhaps around 2-3 hundred shows.

My question of the day for you is – What wine will you be drinking if your Jets win the superbowl?

  • All episodes, and many more than once!
    Smell it first. TR

  • QOTD: I’ve been watching since June 2010, so quickly approaching 100 episodes. That said, I have also explored your archive and watched plenty of videos there (Canadian wines, naturally) so I am sure I have easily exceeded 100 episodes by now.

Love the shows Gary, keep ’em coming and I’ll keep on watching!

  • Anonymous

You were right; I could tell you were more into this show than a few of the past episodes. LOVE Barbera in general, there are a few CA Barberas that I like (including the one I had a hand in making) but I do not think they hold up to most of the high quality Italian counterparts I have tried.

QOTD: At least 600 and that does not include most of the archive episodes I have watched here and there. Keep up the passion!

  • Anonymous

Ummmmm……………..maybe 650. BUT, on several occassions, I have had the opportunity to to go back and review many of your earlier videos.
Keep um coming Gary, keep um coming.

  • pumping out episodes, good Gary!
Barbera D’Alba is value, but can be very pricy now and then

QOTD: 450 online “real time” over 700 in all with all the archive peeking

  • Anonymous

    723, Holla.

  • Anonymous

    971 buddy!

  • Anonymous

I have probably seen 150. So i’ve got many old shows to look forward to 🙂
