  • MOTT?

  • Welcome from Denmark 🙂

  • Why were u late?

Good show, show serious thunder! I think that 2005 might improve alot with 3-4 more years. QOTD1: Milk, with a splash or Kahlua and dark sipping rum. QOTD2: Craggy Range 2006 Pinot. Got a great closeout deal on 7 cases, under 15 bones per bottle.

  • WATER! Mostly because I am too stingy to use my milk for beverages. It generally gets used heavily in my morning cereal.

QOTD2: 2009 Stephen Vincent Crimson. It’s a blend of Syrah and Cab (75/25) that can pair well with food, but is just damn delicious enough to drink on its own. I went through a bunch of it this year, not only at home, but bringing it to parties and other such events. Great bottle for ~12 bucks.

    QOTD1: Milk
    Qotd2: Remhoogte Aigle Noir(S-Africa/Stellenbosch)

Thank you Gary!! It?s been a trill and a great learning experience to be part of WLTV from the beginnings!! I miss Sasha, the brown bags and the Laid Back Couch!! How is baby Misha doing??

QOTD: maybe I could toss out a wine idea that I’ve had for vintages 2004-2007:
Domaine Jaume Vinsobres Altitude 420 Cotes du Rhone

  • Anonymous

The ones that I had were very drinkable- have not tried the expensive ones yet (not sure they are even on the market), but much rather drink a normal Côtes du Rhône from 2009 than a Châteauneuf-du-Pape from 2008. Call me crazy, but thats how I feel. 2009 rocks (compared to 2008 anyhow, he he) and by the way liked both 2007 and 2005. So every 2. year. Not sure I ever had a 2006 and before that I did not drink wine.

Wow, well I’m pretty far away from the West Coast- I live in Denmark and we do not have it anywhere 🙁

Could U link the 549 ep. up? I can’t seem to find it. 548 sep. 2008 but not 549.

And Thanx by the way 🙂

    Love the label. SO cool.

  • Anonymous

549- so I’ve heard, but can’t seem to find it 🙁

  • Grill Factor

which vintage? i’m actually able to find the ’09 at my local store in Sydney for $17 – is it still legit at that price?

  • qotd1: Milk.
qotd2: 2007 Domaine de la Charbonnière Vacqueyras, a fantastic value and spectacular wine.

Supposedly, they have distribution in Denmark. Email Sigurd Muller Vinhandel A/S at ib@snv.dk.

    You can find 549 at http://bit.ly/gMTIsF .

    Good luck!

  • I have always been curious about Taurasi but have never tasted one.

QOTD1: When I make Chocolate, using our traditional Mexican dark bars I use both, hot water to blend the chocolate chunks and dissolve them, and milk to emulsify and give them a smooth flow for drinking. With Cocoa powder I use milk.

What a character. Have to love him. He he.

But unfort. they do not the riesling 🙁

  • Milk for sure…do you use water for Mac n Cheese is the real question?

Lots of castle rock in the last year. Paso Cab and mendocino Pinot in particular.

  • QOTD: MILK!
QOTD: I don’t think there’s one wine I drink that regularly at home. Home’s where I usually try new things.

Silk Unsweetened Soy Milk. Creaminess of milk w/o the hormones, antibiotics & other GMO (genetically modified) stuff.
Spatlese German Reislings &/or Deep Reds like the Aglianicos or Grenache/Mourvedre’s.

Matrot Bourgogne rouge 2008….incredible Burg red that doesn’t break the bank. The 1er Cru Blagny is also good, but cant beat the Bourgogne QPR….excited to try the 2009 in a couple weeks. The Spencer Rollson 2005 Temprenillo is also great juice…too bad my local wine shop said they have since closed up shop.

  • Anonymous

good call! Incredible juice…I only wish I could’ve picked up more before it was all sold out in my area.

  • I used to drink the fly over red when it was all sourced from the Rogue valley and outlying areas. I didn’t try it this past year plus because they introduced Washington fruit (I love WA fruit, but not necessarily in an OR wine). If it is still consistent with bottles from 02 – 04 I’ll have to give it a go again. Have you tried any Cowhorn Syrah or Schmidt reds?

  • I love Aglianico. Been drinking a lot as of late.

QOTD1: Milk, though my intolerance doesn’t like it.
QOTD2: If there’s one my wife and I agree upon. http://winelibrary.com/wines/32884-Cantina+Zaccagnini+Montepulciano+D%2527abruzzo+750ML

Lovin the revitalized energy. I wonder how many people got that Salt-N-Peppa shout-out 😉 Keep up the good work man.

QOTD: You once said that with so much wine in the world there’s really no reason to ever buy the same bottle twice. Consequently, I’ve never had a “house wine”.

Whether they like it or not…

QOTD1 – Hot water and then a little cold milk
QOTD2 – can’t think of one wine that i had more than 1-2 bottles

Gees, I can’t keep up with the shows these days! Great stuff, really really interresting. Never had a Taurasi before – actually I’ve never really heard of it!!

    QOTD1: Milk (with whipped cream)
QOTD2: this is what comes closest to a house wine, although I’ve actually stopped drinking it (gotta try different stuff, right?!):

Le Sauvignon 2009, Loire Sellection L.W (can’t link properly to it….go to leisnerwine.dk and find it under Loire-Loire… 🙂

How long are you already a viewer of WLTV?

I love it, energy level was through the roof! Never had a Taurasi but those descriptions really paint a picture.

QOTD1: Milk, and it’s not even close
QOTD2: Didn’t pop any one wine more than twice so I guess it’s either Villa Antinori Rosso, Baron de Ley Reserva, Jean-Paul Brun Extra Brut BdB, Brolio Chianti Classico, Fritz Haag Riesling Trocken or Pieropan Soave Classico =D

Hey kevin- GREAT choices! I’m a big fan of both as well as the Bogle Zin… fruit bomb to the max it may be, but an enjoyable, delicious, delicious wine!

    2 months – and it sure pushed my wineknowledge ( & downloads… 🙂 )

    QOTD #1: MILK! Absolutely.
QOTD #2: A little nervous stepping out on this limb here, but, I live in a flat with some very price conscious travellers who prefer box wine. That being said, we have actually had box wine tastings to determine that our fave is Country Red ($20NZ for 3 litres). Now I know Vaynernation may be screaming at me, but surprisingly not all boxed wines are created equal, and when jenga drinking games are the norm in your house, your bank account doesn’t really allow anything else to be the house wine.
All that being said, I do work on a vineyard in my spare time and get paid in wine, and this stuff my friends, is absolutely incredible – check out http://www.valliwines.com. The Gibbston Valli 2008 is my fave. This baby makes 8 hours of grueling leaf plucking in the hot sun completely worth it whilst I drink it hidden away from the jenga drinking downstairs…

  • Great show, good to see the enthousiasm building once again.
House wine for the year is a 2009 Cotes du Rhone from Chateau les quatre filles in Sainte Cecile Les vignes. 4 euros herein France, dunno about the US.
    http://www.chateau-4filles.com/

I searched the archive for a show on cotes du rhone village Cairanne, and find none. Gary, I hope you are going to broadcast some soon. Great value, great terroir (10 clicks from Gigondas or Vacqueyras) great inspired vignerons like domaine Oratoire St Martin or Domaine Boisson.

Have you Vayniacs tried a Cairanne before?

    Thanks. Very good show 🙂

QOTD#2 – MontGras Cabernet Sauvignon / Cabernet Franc blend. Me and my room mates all love this stuff and cant get enough of it. I have bought 6 cases of this in 2010. Its so balanced. Not a fruit bomb but the fruit is there (chocolate covered strawberry and dried plums) I love huge tannins but this one just walks up to the border of what can be considered huge tannins, and stops 10 feet away and thats good enough for me. And there is just enough black pepper so that you know its there, without being overpowering. The acid is toned down to levels I expect from a hearty red.

  • Great show!

QOTD: Hot cocoa, Milk for sure!

I find that most Italian red wines SCREAM for food to be paired with them to show their real potential, especially food from the same region of the wine.

Side QOTD: MILK without a doubt!

QOTD: I didn’t have just one. I was really loving the red wines from the Douro region in Portugal.

  • Anonymous

Side QOTD: 3/4 hot water, 1/4 cold milk! Hot water for the ease of using instant hot cocoa; cold milk to give it richness and cool down the temperature enough that the cocoa is immediately ready for slurping. QOTD: My local wine shop has been stocking some great Nero d’Avolas, so that’s what I’ve been drinking in the colder months. When it’s warm out there’s usually a bottle of crisp rosé in my fridge.

  • Anonymous

QOTD #1 – cocoa – I’ll go 3/4 water, and then top off with half-and-half. Sounds like a great idea right now….
QOTD#2 – what is my house wine? I don’t have one at the moment because I’ve been watching too much WLTV, and so I am madly out buying and tasting stuff I’ve never had before. BUT, we have bought and drank a good deal of Schild, 2007 and 2008 Shiraz over the past month and a half.

  • So I had a feudi di san gregorio taurasi 2004(19.99 in pa) the other day. it was interesting. there was a lot of mint in there. I like this episode. Its cool your doing this show. Aglianico is very interesting grape. I’d like to see what you have to say about negroamaro. There are a lot of these wines showing up at low prices.

  • water is easier. Milk tastes better. Once when my wife and I were in montreal we saw some one drinking a hot chocolate at this one place. When we ordered it it was cold liquid chocolate. and it was

QOTD= House wine is 2009 Sainte Cosme Cote Du Rhone……13 “bones” and rocking faces off

  • Anonymous

Good episode, I really appreciate the new wines, even when I cannot find them in my little neck of the world. It gives me something to look for when I go to the big city.

QOTD #1 – Real hot chocolate, milk. Instant, does not matter.

My house wine for 2010 would be the Sauvignon Blanc’s from the Marlborough region of New Zealand, Nobilio, Kato, Kim Crawford, Nine Stones, etc, etc, etc.pawncop

QOTD#1: always milk! water?? lets see would you like water paired with your meal tonight or a nice wine?

House wine: Louis Bouillot Cremant de Bourgogne, Rose
