91/100

Line of the day – ‘Wine & Spirit is smoking some seriously good ganga if they think it’s a 92’

Great to see the quick-fire tasting method GV would use if he were tasting with a view to buying for the store. Interesting.

  • Exact opposite of what you said just because I like to pick on you 😉

Hey Gary I think if you drink the wine straight from the bottle you could shave another minute or two off the show

  • I agree with everyone else. I left this show knowing nothing more than the Cantine is a good cheap bottle of wine. I don’t remember any tasting notes or even what part of Italy it is from. I don’t know the style of the wine or what foods would go well with it. Enough of these 6 minute shows. More of the OG style please.

PS: How many shows did you tape that one day? You were wearing that shirt the last few day if I recall correctly.

I, too am abig Aglianico fan,(glad you eventually pronounced it right!). I was wondering, were these wines all from Camania? If yes, and I do not think this was clear, next time you do Aglianica, do the ‘ de vulture ‘ from Basicalata.
    Peace

Nice auctioneer speak at about two minutes in- lol!
QOTD, aka Command-of-the-day: Take the first few minutes (where today you talked about how you taste to buy for the store) and spend it talking about the varietal, terroir, other nerdy fun facts and then motor on into the last half just as you did today. But warn people not to let their attention wander…

Hey, I should have said Campania… My laptop cant spell.

  • Anonymous

Your the man but I would save that routine for the buying.

  • Charlotte K. Jensen

    well spoken.

Not the greatest show Gary……. But we still love you! 🙂

  • Charlotte K. Jensen

Ohhh my God I’m bored. Not liking this week at all from a wine perspective.

  • Charlotte K. Jensen

    Good one.

  • Del Taburno is one of my weekend go-to bottles. Glad you liked it. Not liking the quick shows as much.
QOTD:This was the lightning show….NOT the Thunder show

  • Big G, Love Aglianico. My friends and I had a fantastic Wine tasting with it and it’s just a great varietal.

QOTD: The last 4 episodes came in at 45:54, so if your trying to cover a week of shows in 1 hour of your time. This weeks style is the way to go.

  • fat chef

    nice bastion booger reference!

QOTD: The usual format is a good blend – you taste a few wines nerd it up for the Vayniacs talk about the Jets with Mott and shoot from the hip. It’s understood that when you taste for the store it might be more buiness like, but that doesn’t translate into entertainment value…unless you had the importer pouring the wines and we could watch you pound him for a great deal…

  • Globex

hmmm… well, this episode did intrigue me enough to buy the Molettieri because I don’t recall ever having Aglianico. So, thanks for introducing it to me.

QOTD: nothing really to refine, when the wife is calling to come home you gotta do what you gotta do. Cheers to answering the call buddy!

    Too fast and frenetic.

QOTD — lots of action, but really, it wasn’t that interesting a format that it bears repeating. sorry

  • I like the show where you give more background on the wines or the region before you taste and then spend a little more time reviewing each wine. With that being said, you already spoke about Aglianico in the Taurasi show so I had already heard the background info

  • Anonymous

QOTD……not a bad format, but only if you do not waste so much time/effort rinsing. So to refine it a bit I would suggest one glass on the table per bottle you will taste for an episode.
    What do you think?

  • steve

QOTD: You have done the refined version of this show many many times, it’s the brown bag show.

QOTD: I don’t know how it could be refined, it was quick & to the point. That being said, in an odd way, I kind of liked it, probably because it was a bit different. Again, add it to the mix, but don’t do it exclusively- if this was a regular episode I would have liked a bit more info about aglianico, but it was certainly fun to watch.

wow! I guess the people have spoken. But It really shows how passionate many of us are. The silver lining is obviously the amount of feedback you are getting in the first place. Love the show, will take what you have time to give gratefully!!!!

Felt like a phone in. Sorry, short is just fine, but that was a I gotta get out of here episode. Should have just skipped it if you don’t have time. No one expects five episodes a week. And for the record, the short format is great, and so is long. Mix it up, don’t be predictable. But don’t phone it in…

Instead of bashing i’ll try to keep it more reasonable. The show was a bit too short to discuss those 3 wines. I think a lot of people would have like it already much more if you’d given some info on the varietal & region.

I do think many people here are way out of line. This is not a subscription wine training site or anything. You do this out of love for educating people + for your business. I don’t feel there’s any reason to call you out on this episode. From the clothes you wear in the last couple vids, it’s obvious that this was taped after a tiring day. You might have wanted to wrap things up a bit faster as usual and i think that’s understandable. Just keep in mind that it’s maybe better to do only one aglianico in 6min and discuss it thoroughly instead of doing 3 very shallow.

Love the show, keep up the good work and all the nitpicks who dislike the days that you bring out a shorter video should dive into the archives a bit more.
