All the brown paper bag episodes are great and this is no exception. A surprise result such as this one makes it all the more enjoyable.

Love the brown paper bag episodes. I dare say that this is my favorite format, especially when Gary “nerds-it-up” a little with the odd fun fact (this one didn’t have too many of those).

QOTD: Can’t think of anything right now

    Just Missed! 😛 OOOOOPPPPPPSSSSSS!!!!!!
    NUMERO CINCO!!!!!!!!

  • You should throw in more Russian, loved it. Eating humble pie? Grateful that I do from time to time (couple of weeks ago was the last occasion), nothing wrong with it whatsoever if you take it in.

  • I had some good Sauv B from Chile. Typical blackcurrant leaves, a great scent.
Spring, where? 22F 3 feet of snow and not even a drip from the roof… Spring???
Compote is right, you heat the fruit in water add some sugar and then often potato flower to make it thick. It is something I just love, plum compote… Honey do we have some dried plum at home?
QOTD Every day at work, not that I do things wrong, but that I have to try to juggle three jobs at the same time without disturbing the balance.

  • Oh that’s easy. I told a client that I looked at his CD of images and that everything was fine, perfect, no problem even though I hadn’t looked at it for over a week. When I went home to check on it, bad cd. Couldn’t open it. Had to tuck my tail between my legs and go back to get a new CD. DOh!

Mmmm Mmmmm was that some delish humble pie.

Nice program today. Enjoyed the Sauvignon Blanc “Brown Bag”! I knew the screw cap had to be from NZ! Great job on the price points. I will try and hunt that Bevan Cellars one down. It really looked interesting. Had that apple juice look to it.

QOTD: I’m going to have to think about this for a minute!

  • QOTD: The recent Academy Awards. Most of my predictions (other than the obvious ones) were mostly wrong.

Great show. A really palate expander (vis Cali Sav Blancs)

I enjoy Sauvignon Blanc, but would rather drink Chablis these days.

QOTD: I rarely have a problem admitting when I’m wrong, my problem is getting every body else to recognize when I’m right!

  • NY Pete

    hey hey

Great show! I went to the store today CRAVING white wine and wish I had seen this first. I did grab a Chard from Romania….the store wants me to be the guinea pig and see what’s going on in that part of the world.

QOTD: When Romo got hurt for the season…..

the last time I ate humble pie was when the Jets didn’t show up for the first half.

  • Hi Gary, wow, 9 to go before the big 1,000. Massive landmark and looking forward to celebrating it.

Same here, I hadn’t got any emails too. I thought Gary was just having another one of his breaks.

Great show! Last weekend i bought some Californian sauvignon blanc from Ironstone Vineyards. A really simple, yet crips enjoyable drink for only 7euros a bottle! I love it that finally i had the chance to try a lot of American wines!

QOTD: just tonight when i screwed up baking 2 steaks saignant whereas otherwise i can nail it pretty good.

QOTD: I eat humble pie on an almost daily basis. Today I was telling my friends that today was Fat Tuesday and they were adamant that it was next week. Long story short, they were correct.

  • i hear you, we are still deep under snow as well…but the sun did come out today…it made the icicles run. We made some SB from Chilean juice last May…not so grassy, but tropical and peachy…I’m going to have to go home a crack one…

  • to echo Mott…*clap* *clap* *clap*
That was pretty good…you not only nailed it on the pricing, but got tread marks on your puss as well. This is why we keep coming back…
I was wondering if KMurph was going to slip a Fumé in on you…

QOTD: not sure, but I am sure that BurroGirl probably served it up to me, and that it was well deserved.

  • Wow, way to go Cali. Great show!

I cheated a little and looked ahead before watching this one. Once you started building up #3 I could wait until you saw it was a cali. I’m impressed. You took your lumps with pride. Good for you.

QOTD: I ate the entire humble pie at 2:00 this afternoon. I couldn’t have been farther off my assesment of an issue at work if I tried. I get to eat my pie tomorrow morning at our staff meeting.

  • Great show Gary, I love the blind tasting episodes. I know it’s kinda late and out-of-sequence, but I really enjoyed the crazy, speed-tasting episode 984. Just started watching the show and there’s a lot to choose from! I want to start at #1 and keep going sequentially like I would for any TV series, but there’s just not enough time so I have to cherry-pick them.

QOTD: Daily. What’s the opposite of humble pie? Megalomaniacal mousse?

  • Tom B

I was thinking it before you said it….Sauvignon Blanc is a great springtime warm weather wine. Next nice sunny day open a bottle and sit outside and feel summer come at you.

  • Good show…WTG Cali! Home stretch to 1000…

QOTD: It’s been said. I’m married, so oh too often. I had a major one on an assignment a week and half ago when I was way overconfident, and I forgot to show some of my work.

  • QOTD: Probably a few weeks ago when a buddy of mine showed me a picture of this girl who he thought was super hot… I did not. I made fun of him for days. I then met that girl a few days later, and went out with her a few days post that… she’s good looking.

QOTD — I try not to make too many dogmatic positions, so not recently. . . touch wood
