EP 1000 Episode 1,000

Gary Vaynerchuk has finally made it to episode 1,000 of Wine Library TV! It’s been an amazing ride since that day in February 2006, with great guests, amazing (and sometimes awful) wines, as well as a lot of Jets talk. Today, the main focus is a huge thank you to all the Vayniacs who helped make this community…and a huge announcement from Gary.

Wines tasted in this episode:

2008 Jerome Prevost La Closerie Les Beguines BrutFrench Brut Vintage

  • It’s DG, not WLTV πŸ™‚

  • Yeah, yeah … and next you be telling me that Tiger is the man… well he is the great golfer, but I don’t like him anymore after his bad treatment of his swedish wife…

Hmm. I guess I’m a patriot after all.. Oops, that was suprising even to me πŸ™‚

  • Age is always irrelevant. Listen to the man

For me it was the 70’s. The Who at Forest Hills Stadium in Queens, two nights in a row. The Stones at the Garden with Stevie Wonder as the opening act (his birthday). Zep at the Nassau Colisuem. They stormed the stage, it collapsed and Roger climbed up on the amps and kept singing. I’ve always love Chrissie. A real rock n roller.

  • Well, we are all about the sweet things in life.
    Wine, dine, sing and dance,
    what is life without romance
… and treats, like sweethearts and sweets

Interesting, so you think your 5’10. Michelle Turnbull, David Family Wines.

  • Good question. I went to many a tour in the 70s and a few in the 80s but the ones I remember are Elvis Presley “Final” Tour and Michael Jackson’s Victory Tour which was beyond belief. In the interim, I have seen Elton John at least six times, once I had the pick of any seat in the house and I sat front row, to his right so I could watch him play the piano.

A small sampling of groups I have seen are: Bee Gees, Smokey Robinson and The Miracles, Temps, Four Tops (is there a theme here?) and yes, The Beatles but that was in the 60s. πŸ™‚

    Cheers!

  • Though I got goosebumps going to a Luciano Pavoratti concert.

Grand Funk Railroad at Shea Stadium 1969 with Humble Pie as the opening act. Great show. Saw Humble Pie after that at the Palladium in NYC. Front row.

The Chambers Brothers at the Filmore East 1968 with the incredible Joshua Light Show.
    The memories.

I worked those concerts in Central Park in the 80’s – 90’s

This DG thing is a pain in the ass. Stop calling it DG if it’s not. If it is give us a time frame.

Dom, No kidding?? You saw the Beatles in concert? Can I touch you? πŸ™‚

I would have done anything to see Elvis, Michael Jackson, and Elton John…. Wow.. I still listen to Elvis’ tunes and played MJ’s greatest hits for one month straight after he died.. (I’m a little burned out now). Had a crush on Elton until he came out. Would have loved to see the Beatles perform, but they broke up before I was old enough to appreciate them. I saw Paul McCartney, twice in 2001-2. Once at Madison Sq Garden and once in Boston. Best concerts ever! I saw the Beach Boys in the mid-80s and Bruce Springsteen in 2004 in SF. πŸ™‚

Concerts not my thing anymore really. However, I’ll take a Puccini opera or symphony anytime. Broadway musicals, too. I’ve seen Les Miserables 3 or 4 times. πŸ™‚

  • Lisa S

Wow! The Stones at the Garden with Stevie Wonder? Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Love them both.

  • Lisa S

That’s wonderful Anders. Wish more people felt that way!

  • gg

  • Ohhhh yes you can!!!! πŸ™‚

I also saw Paul McCartney solo and he was amazing. I have never seen Bruce or the Beach Boys.

I’m in the same “cultural boat” as you are my dear. Our corporate office is in NYC and make a point to spend the night and go to a Broadway play. While visiting the US Open a few years ago, I went to see South Pacific and figured it must be “dated” and “hokie” and boy was I wrong. Again, front row and it was probably one of the best plays I’ve ever seen which includes the biggies; The Lion King, Phantom, Cats, Chicago, Les Miserables (only once) and so on.

Oh yes, Bernadette Peters . . . time to take a cold shower!!!!!! πŸ˜‰

  • Potato salad? I actually made this last night. The Sancerre cut through the mustard like a knife. Yummy

Have a great time TP and Lisa. πŸ™‚

  • Lisa S

    Thank you, Dom.
Hilarious! Love it.. “Think of me.” Of course I loved Phantom and so I watched the entire clip and followed it with “All I Ask of You” and “Music of the Night!” Of course we will think of you!!!

  • Lisa S

Sancerre and potato salad = good pairing. Funny you mentioned Napastyle. I carried around their shopping bag all day yesterday and was thinking I need to visit the store again soon. Love it! However, I didn’t realize they had so many recipes on the site. Thanks, D. Now it’s bookmarked.

  • Lisa S

Awesome reply!! πŸ˜‰ Nearly fell off my chair reading it.

I would have thought the same thing about South Pacific.. How interesting! You’ve seen more shows than I have and live closer to Broadway/NYC.. Now I’m jealous.
Loved Phantom- my 2nd favorite. πŸ™‚

  • Have fun tonight Lisa and TP. πŸ˜‰

  • Mott

    Thank you AndersN.

  • well, time flyes and things get firgotten. The original three tenors where actually Enrico Caruso, Beniamino Gigli and Jussi BjΓΆrling. To few good recordings exist of them, but being a swede BjΓΆrling is IMHO the best that ever was, so far..
