It’s funny to read how many comments were made by the guys…speaking from the girls though…I loved Ingrid!!!! I was one of the 7 who had no idea who Ingrid was, but I am going out tomorrow and buying her book. The love of food, wine and life came across so simply! I can’t wait to put some of the latin ingredients out for our annual Christmas Eve tappas/appetizer party. Great show Gary!!!!

Mike I is showing his stupidity. Ingrid is a free spirit with a lot to offer in personality and food. Mike must like guys. He has no concept of the importance in the pairing of a wine and food. This is the kind of show that can make Mike a better something, but I think he is a lost cause.

  • I don’t know what many people had a problem with! I loved this 2 parter! Ingrid seems so down to earth and funny. She really understands a joie de vivre.

QOTD: Haven’t done a lot of latin cooking. I’m not a big cilantro person and fennel, well meh. But I’m sure there’s a lot more out there that I should try.

Second half better than the first, but I was fine with both. Love the food channel, but have not watched a lot of Ingrid yet, mostly because she is not on weekday nights.

On a lighter note…I was glad to see Ingrid Hoffman on the show. She may have appeared a bit tipsy, but she knows her food, and she’s damn easy on the eyes! Not every guest has to be a Master Sommelier or Master of Wine! Good job Gary!

I enjoyed the show. The guest was quite sexy!
QOTD – I would like to know what should be paired with a traditional Argentine or Brazilian barbecue. You know, one of those restaurants where they just keep bringing you different meats on spears.

  • I have never seen Ingrid or even heard of her, but will try to check her out on the Food Network! Really quite decent shows about food pairings. She seemed to be having quite a fun time, and seems to enjoy herself, which is cool.
QOTD: Wow, I can’t answer that one. How about wine pairing with ‘chili’.

  • Nice show! I haven’t watched in a few weeks- I’ve so much to catch up on!

  • Thanks Gary

    A great couple of episodes.

QOTD: Maybe something bean based with plenty of spice. I don’t think we think enough about matching wine with vegetarian dishes and even with the sides we select.

    Cheers

She has no clue of what is going on and is not worthy of sitting next to you. But we all know she is here for promotional reasons. That’s fine for now but dont ever have this eye candy on again. You have a strong following dont blow it!! We all love you Gary and we hold wine events in NY at our houses just to watch your show. I kid you not sir.

Take care and always be safe

This is fascinating to see how many people are disproportionately angry about this guest! So, she was flirty, and tipsy and said odd things about women, but to get angry?! Strange… like the comment beneath mine. What’s up with the veiled threat? As much as you may enjoy this program, and wine, I surely hope you don’t structure your life around it.

Anyways, Gary, you tried your hardest with a lightweight, and the show was good.

  • Hey Gary,

Big fan of the Spanish value wines and noticed the Juan Gil Monastrell. Have to concur with you on that one, picked up a few bottles locally. Also a big fan of Tempranillo and the blends that use Garnacha as their primary grape. Love the cherry and licorice flavors.

  • Dessert Wine Nerd

Ingrid was a lot of fun. Great sense of humor and she interacted with you really well. You can tell she wanted to get sloshed on those wines…. I would have wanted to as well. Crazy to see her mind totally blown by the food pairings, as my mind would have too. Always fun to watch someone open a new door in food/wine. Love the self-plugs at the end, too. HUSTLE HUSTLE HUSTLE!!!! QOTD: Im guessing youre asking what foods to pair with wines that wasnt on the show? I would say something simple, like some quesedillas with some fresh homemade salsa.

Yah Gar, isn’t uni just the best?!

i ate cold, fresh uni-don first thing in the morning in Hakodate up in Hokkaido at a fisher’s market one time… the uni was so supple it had a consistency more like a paste than a solid food. it was uniriffic.

  • Ilse-Belgian living in Spain

With all my respect to the show and the guest, but I think it might have been a very American way of presenting Spanish (or Latin) food…the explanation about the different “tapas” was mediocre (even the prononciation was bad), at least it seems to me and I am living in Spain!
A tapa in Spain is typically some small thing the bar tender offers for free with a drink (some olives, some pork scratcings, some potatoes with aioli sauce, a bit of bread with tortilla de patatas, or with some charcutería like chorizo), the things you have shown are portions, or called “raciones” in Spain. Chorizo can be raw in Spain as well, and is the type of chorizo used in stews (cocido). I can go on, but I’ll stop here. Concerning the wine, good selection…it’s nice to have Spanish wines in the programme which aren’t Rioja or Ribera, but there are loads of them more ;-))
About the QOTD : loads of other typical food stuff from Spain : lomo-jamón-cecina-tocino-morcilla (all charcutería) – ajos-plenty of types of olives (Spain is major producer of olive oil, not Italy!) – cheeses which do not have anything to do with manchego like cabrales-tetilla… oh yes, manchego is not a certain type of cheese (it can be curado, semi-curado, even fresco), but a denominación de origen like an apellation in wine! So it’s a regional denomination with demands conderning quality of milk!

I had 2 bottles of Juan Gil in Chico Hot Springs Montanna recently. I really liked it and cant wait to get another bottle.

  • 90/100

line of the day – ‘had it tasted like soap to me I’d have been fine with that’

    Wow.
After not really enjoying pt 1 of this 2 part show, this half really came alive. Possibly down to the fact that Ingrid was by now, half cut, but whatever the reason was…a great, fun show with lots of interesting info. Definitely a game of two halves

  • Charles Frost

watched it and I am loving it.
