I don’t want to sound like the Born Loser, but outside of family, marriage, the birth of a child nothing that felt right ever panned out to be that special. However, events that I met with intrepidation or anxiety have sometimes turned out to be life-changing. I would not have gone to college had I not first joined the Navy and became an independent man. Doing something that feels so right may not produce the desired result. Doing something that you may be hesitant or ambivalent about, may produce a deeper feeling of success and far less disappointment if you do not succeed.

Thanks for the shout-out to SF! We’re getting fired up for the Party!

    Ciao

Jeremy did you beat me to the 04 Clio, you dirty rat!!!

QOTD outting Jeremy for buying my Clio. I feel better now.

Btw Gary, the Bride looks tasty, and I hardly ever drink white, like hardly ever.

Ahh, the joys of Raid. Kills bugs and your lungs, perfecto. Good ep, G.

QOD: An 18yr old girl went into cardiac arrest in my arms. I watched her last heart beat on the monitor screen. As her scared, frozen eyes look back at me, I took my fist and thumped her chest, twice. Her heart re-started shortly thereafter. That, was the single most ‘right’ thing I’ve ever done in my life. Acted purely on instinct and saved a life.

Another stellar episode Gary. I’m really on the hunt for crisp white wine for the summer. Who knew Black Bart’s Bride bottled was also designed for home security? Ghetto or not, we could all use a head clunker like that “just in case.” 😀

QOTD: Man! You touched on something that I am still struggling to figure out. Family aside, I have never really, honestly, had one of those “this is so right” moments. I’ve had a lot of great experiences, but I remain open to what will be my life’s real calling and passion. Photography is close, though.

    Cheers!

QOTD… I Left the big job in the city and moved to the country where people watch out for each other. Now building my own house on a small island, with my own hands. Some things are much more important than money.

QOTD: Last year when I took on the job of a swim coach in addition to my full time job, girlfriend, and workout regimen, I thought what the hell am I doing… Giving up most of my weekends, working 4 nights a week… It was absolutely killing me. Until we had our first swim meet. I think our kids just swam good to make me realize that this job is the $hit and I love it a ton! Watching kids progress because of your hard work is the best feeling in the world. Now I can’t wait to have kids of my own… but it’s gonna be a LOOOOONG while!!

Nice ep Gary, and great QOTD, let everyone reflect. Now I’m gonna have to find some of that Black Bart’s Wife… and not in that way! lol

I know you meant “spouse” not “sibling”, nice episode.

  • Yuw. Nice this Xarello. Spains whites are as much undervalued as the Italian whites. Think for instance of Naia, Naiades and Ossian from Rueda, all 100% pre-phyllox Verdejo. I did not know what I drank first time I had it. Incredible and unique.
QOTD: quit studying biology after three years and start again with Germanic languages. Huge turn, but worth it every second. Would do it again.
    C ya.

Boy I’m really glad this is a show about wine and not Gary’s musical tastes! I can’t handle when you bring the thunder with Ronstadt 😉

Hmmm…guess I should have watched the ep before I answered the QOTD. Non family related huh…well, I’ll go with a recent one. A little while back I bought a new brand of dog food that my dog just wasn’t down with but it was good dog food (i.e. expensive) and I didn’t just want to throw it away so I put it in my car with the thought of giving it to a homeless guy with a dog that I usually see on my way to the gym in the morning. I had that bag of dog food in my car for three months at least without seeing the homeless guy and I was tempted to throw the bag away almost every week but I didn’t. I still haven’t seen the homeless guy that I had in mind but I happened to run into a different homeless guy with a dog last week and I gave him the bag and he was so grateful and the poor little dog was so skinny; it couldn’t have felt much righter.

QOTD – Coaching youth sports. It’s amazing to see how you can impact a kid’s life or even better, a dozen of them at a time.

QOTD: It would have to be the time I took a class in jr high where we went to the grade school next door and worked with challeneged kids. Helping them swim in the pool or getting them to spell out a word was just uplifting. Its amazing to see how different life is when you make a difference in someones life like that. ….. I love the tasting notes on the Xarel-lo and the Bride. Im still new to wines so Im trying my best to expand past desserts, ports, and whites. Nice job on the spilling on yourself, I think this was finally the first episode where you really got yourself.

Ok, I told myself that I’d do it and I have finally decided to go buy a couple of bottles from lesser known Champagne and sparkling wine producers! That is, once I pick up my check 2mrw! Payday, holla back!! You win, G.
