line of the day – ‘Is it like, communism, for you in your mind’

Not the greatest chemistry between GV and the guest but that was mainly down to the slow, deliberate way the guest answered many of the questions. What he did do well, however, was to prize some quite personal reflections from Gary, and that doesn’t happen too often

Great, great show and Dr. Vino was an excellent guest. I know some may say that he lacked charisma, but his passion and knowledge came through on the show and I thought it all worked pretty well. As for scoring, I still like that benchmark, but I do understand all the problems that scoring brings to the table.

QOTD: Still not sure about what wine I’m bringing on Thanksgiving. Perhaps a red Rhone like a CDP. Perhaps a Syrah. We will only have five people, and four of us love wine, so it will be an easy crowd to please.

A very good show and good guest.

QOTD – will have to work that evening so any wine will be early and not a lot. No magnum.

  • Hey, Gary)
Good Episode. I’d like to try some more Vouvray soon.
By the way is Beaujolais Nouveau popular in USA? Cause here people drink it like maaad, even though I think it’s crap)
    Alexey from Ukraine

  • QOTD: Not a magnum, planning on opening the Gewurtztraminer I picked up from cinderellawine.com a few weeks ago, don’t recall if off top of head (and too lazy to look up).

    Dear Gary and Dr. Vino,

Very good question. I just came from our cellar and have chosen a magnum of 1999 Lewis Reserve cab and a 750ml bottle of 1997 Roberto Voerzio Cerequio Barolo. We will start with a 750ml 2005 Kosta Browne Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir.

I’m a few days behind. I must say I enjoyed the guest very much.

QOTD: We’re having a nicer beaujolais and a german riesling. Don’t know the specifics since my family/guests are bringing the wine. I know it’s from Moore Brothers so it’s got to be good! I have plenty of pinot noir and Alsacian (spell?) gewurztraminer for my leftovers.

QOTD: 2007 Fritz Haag Riesling Spätlese. Sadly it will not be a Magnum because it’s not really usual to have german Rieslings in Mags. That should be changed!

Great show! Will definitely be checking out the drvino site. I recently tried Beaujolais Nouveau for the first time and didn’t care for it too much. I’m interested in checking out other Beaujolais offerings.
