I have already typed this once, but here it goes…..

Rinsing out wine glasses with the wine you are about to taste – I am down with what you are doing – any knowledgeable wine taster would not give you crap for it.

QOTD 1 – A Greek blend of Cab Sauv and Aghortiko (sic) – decent but gave me a headache.

QOTD 2 – A NY Ice Wine (forgot the name) that was delicious.

Oh, I was so hoping the Riesling was going to rock, but I’d go for the Gewurztraminer. Love dry Gewurzt.

QOTD1: Yes, Vermentino last weekend and always on the look out for something different.

    QOTD2: No, unfortunately not.

Yeah NY State! When I went home to Buffalo recently, I bought both of these wines for my always expanding (costly hobby…oh well) wine cellar in my apartment storage unit in the basement of my building in Washington, DC. NY wines are tough to come by here. I haven’t tried either one yet, though I am looking forward to them.

The last NY wine I had was a Riesling from…I can’t remember the name of the winery. It was pretty good, too. I had it with a fresh ham I made for my friends on Easter.

    Great show, Gary.

I met Hermann in the early 70’s when he and I (and my wife) lived in Corning. I picked Riesling grapes with him in his vineyards in the fall of 74 or 75. He was passionate about his vineyards and wine then as I am sure he is now. I developed a case study in business school based upon his winery. I attempted to show what kind of investment was required to develop a successful wine business. I hope he benefitted from it. If you have a chance, give him my best regards.

big ups to the finger lakes. if you’re looking to tour the area i’d recommend driving in a bigass circle around seneca lake. specifically, prejean and lamoreaux landing. also, stop in my hometown of geneva and eat at Parkers. probably the best buffalo wings in the world.

This is a wonderful winery in the Finger Lakes and I was thrilled to see it on your picks for the best for Thanksgiving. There are a few real gems in this area and its great to see them get some attention!

QOTD 1: I’ve been working on expanding my palate, as far as my budget allows anyway. I found an Argentinian Malbec the other day for $9AUD. Very different from anything I had tasted. I’ve also been trying to eat lots of things I normally wouldn’t.

QOTD 2: I’ve never had a wine from New York state, as I’ve never found one here in Australia, but hopefully I’ll be travelling in the US in the next few years, so I’ll definitely have one then, if not sooner.
