    QOTD: I am going to decant the red bordeaux from the x-mas pack that I will be drinking in a day or two…still haven’t gotten around to all 4 bottles yet due to strep throat. :(

    QOTD: I shopped online for a decanter and am going to place my order in a few minutes. Sad to say we’ve never decanted a wine, good thing I don’t have too many to look back on and think, darn.

    I used to pop and pour. I wanted to learn how the wine evolved. I have learned. I no longer do. Especially bordeaux.

    QOTD: A reason not to decant? Cause it may be sparkling? hah. Kidding. It will be decanted.

    superb episode! Thanks Jeffrey, you were great! QOTD: why not? I sort of do, already. I generally plan ahead, and pour ahead of when I will be drinking. I pour into a wide rim glass about 30-60 minutes before I start tasting. Functionally, that’s sort of like decanting, isn’t it?

    QOTD: I am so totally on board with Jeffrey’s concept of “decant and drink”. Just about every red wine I serve at home I decant - even if it is a fairly inexpensive wine. Try it and you will be surprised at how much more you will enjoy your red wines.

    QOTD — I decant wines that I think need it. I don’t decant every bottle — like everyday drinking wine. I decanted a 2002 Pontet-Canet the other night, and it did evolve nicely…

    QOTD: I promise to decant the next bottle of wine I open… because I’m working tomorrow night and I have to decant every bottle that I open for my customers…BUT I’ll do it for the next bottle I open for myself at home as well!!

    One of my favorite episodes, what a rockstar guest! Jeffrey has a dry but great sense of humor and Gary, either you weren’t paying attention or you missed about half his jokes.
    Wow! I want a rock. Too bad it took me so long to get around to this episode. Oh, by the way, decanted a bottle of wine for my family tonight (but kinda cheated, it was at the urging of Gary for the last of the Christmas 4-pack wines).

    QOTD: I am ashamed to say that I have a decanter, and I have never used it! After watching this show, I will actually try it out and test it at different times and see what it has to show.

    I’m just now getting to watch this episode and it’s GREAT. Thanks for having Jeffrey Davies on! This was fun to watch. Lots of good info, delivered without a condescending or intimidating attitude. Gotta love it.

    QOTD: My decanter gets an obscene amount of use. I decant almost every red wine I drink at home (when I know which wine I’ll want ahead of time), and this year I began decanting several whites.

    Decanters make great gifts for wine-drinking friends & family members. I’m giving a couple away myself this year.

    QOTD: You’re kidding me here.

    I always decant (except 2002 Jocelyn Cab). I was standing in the tasting room at Provenance Vineyards as a guy was buying my favorite Merlot (the 2002 Las Amigas). I suggested he decant it for 90 minutes and he would be rewarded. He tried to give excuses as to why he probably couldn’t. (I suggested he open something else to drink during the 90 minutes.) Finally, he agreed that he would do so. During the discussion, the wine-club lady mentioned that the wine maker Tom Rinaldi practically preaches about decantiing.

    My mom and sister both hate me for being such a decanter nazi, but I think it’s worth it and well worth the wait.

    QOTD- love decanting, usually can squeeze in an hour before drinking, sometimes have to pop & pour, but prefer not to…have seen so many wines open up with just a little love…
