Good to have you back, and thanks for introducing me to yet another region/grape I don’t know.
QOTD: We have great wine trip planned for July 2008! My wife and I are traveling to Sonoma with my parents and my sister and her husband for six days. We’ve rented a house in Kenwood and plan to have an awesome time. All three couples honeymooned in the area, but the six of us have never traveled there – or anywhere for that matter – as a family.

GV, how strange that I watched this show today considering I have a hunk of guanciale in my pocket and I’m soon on my way home to do something with it and buy some Italian wine on the way. And stranger even, I bought it before the Times came out with the article on pasta dishes using guanciale. I’m so psyched to have it in my pocket. It’s better than a pocket full of boudin noir.

My family probably won’t be doing a wine vacation this year, or any vacation for that matter, unless we can sneak into the wheel well of the closest jumbo jet to the first hole in a JFK fence we can find and strap all of us in with some duct tape and hope for a wine producing destination. Other than the occasional excursion to Rego Park or Corona, this summer I’m planning on dedicating myself to grilling lots of meats and some octopus (I’m dying for some grilled octopus on a 95 degree day) at home, drinking with family and friends and sweating (Greenpoint, Brooklyn is really lovely in August especially if sewage treatment fumes blow in around dusk to mix with scents of mint and lavender in my garden).

2008 wine trip……I am staying local…because……..WASHINGTON RULES!!!!

We are planning a road trip to the Eastern side of the state to sampler the Best Reds in the World(thats right I said it!)

Oh BTW,,,be jealous,,,,I get to go to the crush of a 100 point Red here local(don’t wanna drop names…but if you know my area you know what I mean!)

QOTD – Going to Spain for 2 weeks; 1 week on cycling in the Girona region (focus on cycling) then 1 week in the Rioja region – some riding, more wine drinking. Might get out to my folks in Oregon for a quick visit & drop by some Willamette producers.

Hey Gary my 2008 wine trip… planning it for the end of the year maybe november/december. Leaving Sydney and over a couple of weeks drive to Adelaide. Taking in everything from Canberra wine regions to the Coonawarra and everything in between ( looking forward to: Mornington Peninsula, Barossa, Langhorne Creek, Adelaide Hills, Clair Valley, Yarra Valley)…

Qotd – haven’t fully decided but seattle for the taste washington, plus to had with GV!! you better make that happen!! there is an up and coming area here in WA call chelan that I’ll check out to. Hopefully many more but those fo sho!!

QOTD: Some friends are getting married in Mountain View this summer so we’ll swing up to Napa and Sonoma for a few days. For 2009, it’s all about the Vayniac Cab. Is there going to be a release party in 2009?

I’m out of the rhythm now, I haven’t watch WLTV in so long!

I think we’ll try to make it up to Washington this year, but I’ll have to convince her its for hiking and relaxing then just happen to pull up to a winery.

QOTD: We are planning on doing a group/couples trip to Sonoma in Sept. to pick grapes and then in May 09 go and blend our own wine.

Probably not a true vacation, so to speak, but will probably take a weekend trip and do the wine festival at Watkins Glen in July, and a day trip along the Niagara wine trail also.

Q:I’m afraid I spend all my wine vacation money on wine. I’ve never been to Jersey, but if I get there WL will be on list of stops for sure.

One of our favorite everyday wines is Colosi Nero d’Avola ($8 bones). Nothing earthshattering, just the typical chocolate cherries with some nice pepper on the finish. QOTD: We’re going to Seattle in June for a conference and were going to explore Washington State for a few days afterward. Any winery suggestions?

I am living currently in a permanent wine vacation, however I am really excited for our planned trip to Bordeaux in April. We are cyclotouring the wine areas, which could get interesting.

My wine vacation is going to be drinking it every chance I get, seeking out the new, different, and unfamiliar, and taking the very initial steps towards wine/sommelier certification.

Worst scenario? Nah! Best scenario. After destroying G-Bay, Gints topple Bill Bellacheat’s Patsy’s, making 18-1 the worst record in the NFL! Stick to wine Gary, its less painful than bleeding green!

QOTD: Planned wine vacation is for my 10th wedding anniversary (Sept.), to France.

QOTD: The wife is running a marathon in the Napa area in May with some friends. The spouses (including me) will cheer and hold up glasses of heavily oaked cabernet at the finish line. Then we shall go do some tastings.

ps. fell a little behind on the episodes, but I will catch up, I just need to devote a whole week to wltv.

I have a great Nero D’avola from my family’s vinyard in Sicily that I am bringing to the states to sell. I would love to have you taste this wine…and the other varieties…
