awwww…. where’s alex’s qotd??? I’ve been really into this wine and the idea behind this wine since I learned about it. I’m really into fruit-forward cabs so this ends up being one of my favorites at its price. I think I’ve been through at least a case at this point. I just wish more stores in Iowa carried it because most of my support has gone to New Jersey heh….

Hey “V” fans, I´ve been drinking chilean wines, reds, whites and blends. They got amazing wines specially from casablanca and san antonio (sauvignon blanc, chardonnay and cool climate syrah). New cool climate syrah rules, the ones from san antonio they are very elegant, complex balanced and far way better than aussie mermelades hot syrah (in general. Tip´s Villard Pinot noir from casablanca, Antiyal 99-01-03 and Kuyen 04-06 biodynamic carmenere and syrah based blends from Maipo Valley, and my favorite “ge” biodynamic demeter certified 4 var. red blend from Viñedos orgánicos emiliana Colchagua valley.

QOTD: Wow, probably sharing a wine with my dad that I had tracked down that had our surname on it and it turned out to be a good wine, too! (Mason Cellars) Now each year for Christmas I buy a case for him to enjoy during the year. Whenever he has dinner guests he pulls a bottle of the Mason out of his cellar and it never fails to add to his enjoyment of the evening…

What is with this American preoccupation with bosoms? Why not just donate to All Cancer research? At least include prostate cancer for balance.
    Thanks

Gary, great show. I have seen Big Tattoo red before ans did not choose it but will certainly try some soon. I think it is great the charity aspect of this wine and really hope I enjoy it so I can continue. I also lost my mother in 2000 to Cancer and and can get behind Hospice inclusion because they were very helpful to my family.

    Thank you

My wife and I took a trip to Burgundy for our 5th Anniversary. We had a very special dinner in our hotel, we enjoyed a 1997 Vosne Romanee from Arnoux in a private dining room, it was one of the most wonderful nights of my life…AMM

    P.S. Burgundy & it’s people Rock!

    Mmmm…Spree!

QOTD: My favorite wine/family memory is when I was about 4 years old and my Grandma (a BIG white wine drinker) let me have my very own glass of wine at Thanksgiving. Sure, it had a ton of ice in it, and was probably watered down, but I felt SO special, I’ll never forget it. Now whenever Nana offers me a glass of wine, I just can’t say no. You rock Nana!

  23. June 19, 2008

    Giania

I almost choked to death on a Spree once! Still love them though. :)

QOTD: Well, that’s tough actually. Best I can figure is the time I brought over a bottle of Merlot and my mother almost fell over because, unbeknownst to me, she HATES Merlot. I knew she drank red and at the time, merlot was one of my favorites, and what seemed like the most logical choice. It was embarassing, and I felt kind of bad for bringing the wrong thing, but I learned something that day about my mom, about people, and about wine. What I learned? Mom hates merlot, always ask people about what they like instead of just assuming, and not every red is a merlot.

a few years back my God mother had passed away shortly before the holidays and for New Year’s I had invited my God Father over to spend the evening with us. He is in his 70s and we were all a bit concerned about him throughout the night. He was in a quiet seat for awhile until I busted out a bottle I have been saving for quite some time – 1978 Lafite Rothschild Bordeaux. When this man opened his eyes and saw this bottle, he actually smiled and said – finally I broke out the good stuff. Mind you – I don’t “roll” like that normally. This bottle was a gift and IO had been saving it for the right occasion. Apparently this was it – from that point on he was very talkative and kept pouring himself a nice glass…on his last pour I had to stop him because he was on his way of filling his glass to the rim – A large Ridel… Opening the wine was well worth it and I will never forget the happiness it brought this man that I love dearly.

Great show and great cause. I purchased a few bottles to hand out to friends.
