Oh man, your stock guys were dying when you poured out that bottle! Hahaha…

I dig Chappellet’s chard, and Walter Hansel rocks too. Both places have kick butt tours– Steven Hansel took me and my two friends around the little winery, pointed out all the surrounding vineyards, and opened up 4 bottles on top of a barrel! No fancy bar, no snackys…. the wines rocked, and he gave us the 4 bottles afterwards. Absolutely awesome.

More wines I need to get into. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. QOTD: Cant remember one in the last 6 months that wowed me. Of course, Ive probably only had 3 tops.

Have not had enough Saint Verans, excellent show with some good info and history. Will go exploring next time I’m out at the local shoppe. Wish I had discovered them when they were $7-9.

Love a good Chablis, though I am blanking on any one in particular right now. Haven’t been drinking much French lately. Anything with good minerality and acidity, yum.

Did you just say up in this bitch? LOL
I do love my Chards (and all white wines) to have good acidity/backbone and complexity so I think I’d love the Verget.
QOTD: I haven’t been crazy about any chardonnay I’ve tried in the past few months.

GV – gotta love the wines of Burgundy!
QOTD – I really like Chardonnay and I had a wine tasting at my house recently where we had a Chablis and contrasted it with a Hartford Court Stone Cote Vineyard Chardonnay. The Chablis went much better with the cheese we selected for the course.

Mid-July I had a bottle of the 2005 Domaine Jaeger-Defaix Rully 1er Cru Les Cloux that my wife and I still reference when tasting chardonnay.

Last 6 months fav. chardonnay, 2006 Kestral old vine chard, WA state, it’s made from some of the oldest vines in the state. They have the low productive Wente clone. Very good.

QOTD: When we’ve had chardonnay recently, we have been drinking the 2005 LaFlaive regular white burgundy which is pretty nice at ~$25 per bottle.

Great show as usual Gary! I cannot off the top of my head recall any really GOOD Chardonnays that I’ve had in the recent past, but I’ll keep trying them!

Too bad about your Jets, but EVEN WORSE that my Pats were humiliated by the lowly Fins…I guess we can both wallow at the bottom of the AFC East!

Kongsgaard, Aubert and Rochioli are mindblowers…..A bit expensive and hard to find, but they are equal to, or exceed the French Montrachets

    QOTD –

Not a big Chard drinker but enjoyed the Franciscan Cuvee Sauvage 2005. Very rich and complex but pricey. Also liked la crema 2006. A great buy at about $18.

Have some burg chard I’m waiting to get a bit more bottle age. In the mean time I
    keep digging other whites more!

I’ve been off of chard for a while and decided to pick up 3 or 4 recently to try. The best one was 2007 Coppola Gold Diamond Chardonnay. I will definitely pick up some more.

Great show. You’re so great at opening up insights into more and more wine regions, and I really love the exploration to Burgundy. Thank you for sharing the knowledge, sharing the passion.
Most of my recent Chardonnay has been from Burgundy (a few 06 Macons) or Israel (Castel, Yarden stood out). But I’m moving to Napa next month, and am looking forward to trying the new vintages (Fransician & Prix both impressed me). I’m sure there will be some great ones near San Diego, which I’m sure will taste even sweeter if the Jets win. Good luck with that.

Cameron chard from Dundee, OR…they do a really nice job

QOTD: Favorite chardonnay over the last couple of weeks was a 2004 Kistler Hyde Vineyard. The oak monster was present big time, but still well balanced with refreshing acidity and apple fruit.
