Interesting show today with the two you loved and one you hated and a showing by Sasha.

QOTD: I just don’t see them making it, I don’t think that their starting pitching and bullpen are good enough right now. That being said I am sure that they will make some moves this offseason and then who knows.

I enjoyed the episode, and your guest. The clips on WCBS with you and Tara the restaurant were a really good platform for you, very natural and fun. Loved the appearance of your dad.

QOTD: It’d be nice to see the Mets make the playoffs. I’m a NH boy, so hence a de facto Red Sox fan, but I’m actually quite ambivalent about the Sox and about baseball in general. Used to love the Mets as a kid (Mom’s side of the family’s all in NJ) and they always broke my heart. They should kick ass one of these days!

Gary, (if you read this) I love that you keep trying to expand people’s palates and taste “off-the-radar” wines on your show. I can’t believe, though, that you haven’t done a show on Madeira. I’d love to see you taste some different styles of Madeira with a vintage Madeira at the end. If I don’t see it soon, I might have to send you an e-mail and further clutter your inbox. Thanks again.

So I found the 2007 Ciavolich Aries Pecorino at the Liquor store here in Vancouver Canada not 19.99 its 35 and this the government liquor store which means its not over priced its what they pay plus government 117% tax ahh well.

Pretty good episode! it´s really educative when you try some new varieties. And i agree that swishing is the best way how to recognise whole range of tastes. I wish you add more white wines from Europe and more white wines at all. thx

GaryV – Great show, great to see Sasha shows up when you have another female guest (I might be seeing a trend…)and will now go over to WCBS to check it out. One picky, picky correction just to keep things straight – Clarksburg is not near Santa Maria as you mentioned and is not even on the central coast. It is in the central valley (very hot) which could not be much more different than Santa Maria (very cool).

Why for heaven’s sake did you pick the Barbadillo…in Spain it’s known as one of the cheepest (doen’t cost more than 2?!) and most tasteless wines…no wonder you didn’t like it! Please try to avoid these type of “san simon” (this is a wine they sell in tetrapack) disasters and pick at least “serious” wines for your show…it almost seems that Spain doesn’t have good white wines (apart from albariño), and as a matter a fact there are loads of nice cheap wines, like the ones from Rueda.

Sidebar: Don’t like Jerry Manuel–he’s a traitor and pushed Willie Randolph out of his job. I can’t see how they gave him a contract for next year–he didn’t get the Mets to the play-offs either.

Good show – I came away with 2 wines that I would lke to try (one that I have not ever heard of – Pecorino) in the future. Decent guest – she needs to build on her confidence in wine.

QOTD – The Mets will not make it back to the playoffs agaiin unless thay get Ron Darling, Wally Backman, and Len Dykstra back on the team.

Having seen this episode after the one which was presented the following day (with JR), I feel strongly inclined to watch future instalments in chronological order. While your guest was pleasant to see, she gave me the impression of being olfactorily challenged. Granted, the first wine may have been partially responsible for that.

This was similar to having partaken of the 2004 Chateau Lafon Rochet after the 2004 Chateau Pontet-Canet. The latter, while being fine on its own accord, was a dissapointment after the former.
