Good episode, interesting to see it make a comeback.

QOTD – Back in the 70’s was given a bottle of (I am butchering the spelling) Gaiccobaste as a gift. Do not recall it being carbonated. Was not into wine back then, but will look forward to renewing old friendships.

QOTD: I had non-Riunite Lambrusco, unfortunately it was Cella. (remember the cheesy “Aldo Cella” character from the commercials. Slogan was “chill a Cella”. First wine I drank. (back when drinking age was 18 – now I’m dating myself!)

Now for the real Lambrusco… I haven’t tried it yet. To be honest, I was unaware of the upper echelon Lambrusco.

    Thanks for a great show!

Lambrusco rocks. Great with anything italian and with charcuterie. If you get the real stuff- Lini, Ceci, Gasparossa- it’s a crowd pleaser. Will satisfy wine nerds as well as picky drinkers.

Interesting show – I remember the Riunite jingle.
QOTD – I would like to try a Lambrusco in the future. I had one almost 10 years ago at an Italian restaurant in Germany and I was uninspired.

  • qotd: NEVER had a Lambrusco before, but I’m so going to try to find one tomorrow!!! This wine looks amazing, especially since I don’t like Prosecco that much. But then, there are just moments where you want a sparkly wine. Again, I’m in awe here! This my friend, THIS, is why I love and watch your show. Entertainment, yes, but mainly because of the experience you bring into the show and which you are willing to share with the Vaynernation. I love you man! Enjoy your vacation!

I am pleased that the method of second fermentation for this sparkling wine was explained, unlike the last episode which featured such a wine. This was well done.

Yes, I just finished a bottle this week. Great with Italian style dried salume and spicy coppa.

This would be a good summer wine where you might drink a white but your looking for a bit more flavor.

Have some with prosciutto wrapped melon on the patio. Drink some Lambrusco while you grill a Italian sausage, cut it up and pass it around. The Lambrusco will pair great with that. Then seamlessly move to a Chianti, super tuscan or a cab to go with your rare steak ala Florentine.

btw i just watched your video about Tocai Fruilano, er, the wine formerly know as tocai fruilano. I completley agree with what you said. Big white that coats your whole palate with flavor and nice, crisp acidity.

Interesting show – I never even thought of a Lambrusco show (see QOTD). I am intrigued by your description because I really have liked some sparkling shiraz that I have had in the past so, in my case, similarity may be good.

QOTD: Nope, at least not to my recollection. In fact, a few years ago, my work group did a holiday dinner at a nice restaurant and one guy asked if they had any Lambrusco – I was horrified (they didn’t). Yes, that’s what Riunite and others did. But I am always willing to try new things and I never thought that there was any good Lambrusco – it seemed oxymoronic to me.
