Actually, I’m a part of a team, writing software, that will help doctors potentially identify diseases, such as cancer, more reliably and more quickly.

Just watched this segment and – WOW – do I disagree with Gary on the 2007 Casa Castillo Jumilla. Yikes! I don’t know if anyone else wrote on this ‘cuz I didn’t read all the thread, but I’m thinking you had a bad bottle. I know Gary goes his own way, but check some other reviews on this one. I purchased it several times.

I still love Spanish wines even with a bad showing. Let’s blame Drew’s cancer.

    QOTD: I try my best.

Gotta say, I don’t watch your show to hear the opinions of neophyte guests. Most of their remarks are either off point, i.e. a smell is not a taste, or else they are trying so deliberately to give their version of a GV description (ant farm). Trust me, few can relate to what an ant farm smells like. Gary can handle the show on his own or with knowledgeable guest.

BIG G!! I have to say that (as you know) I’ve been watching since nearly the beginning, and I rarely have had the wines that you review. However, when I do seek out wines you have reviewed or have already had the wines that you taste on the show, I find that we are usually on the same page.
That being said, I happened to have tasted both the Casa Castillo and the Creta Roble recently, and was a little surprised by the harsh reviews. I thought that the Casa Castillo was definitely hot and a little faky-fake (fake fruit flavors), but didn’t find it putrid.
As for the Creta, this wine is definitely lighter in body than the Casa Castillo, and has a lower alcohol content, so it could be expected that the tasters at the table would think it tasted watery after the dominant tannins of the heavier Casa Castillo. Also, I found that the Creta showed much better and more integrated on day two, a luxury that I know you talk about not having on the Thunder Show. Not a great wine, but easily low-to-mid 80s for me. Interesting to see us a bit far apart for once.

QOTD: I am currently teaching for free at my improv training center.

First of the NYC shows I have seen. Good format. Too bad the wines failed though :(

I Hope the best for Drew though!! Good luck to you man!!

QOTD: I think the thing I am doing best right now is being a father to my son. At least I hope and pray that I am. He means so MUCH to me. And Gary you know how that feels now!!

QOTD: trying to be the best husband and best dad to my 5 month old I can be. Our children are a blessing and GV I wish you the best in raising Mischa (hope I spelled her name right!)

Once again, Mott keeping the eye candy in frame. Who arranged seating, best looking girls to gary’s right is a great strategy.

QOTD: helping the poor, saving the enviroment, driving a Prius, sending floatation devices to the drowning bears, feeding the hungry, carrying the burden of all the world upon my back. no big deal.

QOTD: I hope I’m being a positive example for the younger people in my PhD program. I know I’m certainly not an influence on the field of science with my research, but I hope I’m looked at as a reliable guide to those around me.

Much better with the audio. It’s been a sore spot all week for these NYC shows, and I feel like this show finally got close to getting it right. I also blame myself (and maybe Drew’s cancer) for the sound issues; MacBooks really do have some of the worst speakers I’ve ever encountered, but I was too lazy to plug in externals. Keep on rockin’ WLTV.

    For future reference:

After I found out the first of these “NYC Week” videos should have been named “NYC Weak”, I haven’t watched any of the others after that.

I finally did it. I’m commenting from California. Working the harvest in Healdsburg

Usually, love the spanish wines. Sometimes they are overdone. But, generally, best QPR if you get the right one. Who else sells wine aged 5-yrs or more for those prices. Gran Reserva

Drew can thank the lovely woman on Gary’s right for the 10 bucks he’ll get once I order a few bottles. I’m sure Gary and Mott and plenty of others at WLTV worked really hard on NY Wine Week, but I’m with the majority here who just didn’t enjoy the episodes as much as the more personal ones. The only thing that got me through this one was the aforementioned girl. It all worked out though–I learned about three wines I should never buy, I go to see the hot girl, and I helped donate 10 bucks to a (very) worthy cause.

Not a fan of this format as a home viewer. I’m sure it would be lots of fun if I were actually there. Best to Drew.

Looking forward to the “regular” format coming back. Thanks for doing the show in any case.

QOTD: Being a pharmacy student, I’m currently out in the real world on clinical rotations, & knowing that daily I am helping people use their medications more effectively or get more appropriate medications for their diseases isincredibly rewarding!

I’m kind of disappointed as Spain is one of my favorite regions for value wines & MOST do not disappoint this much!

Love you show as always but I have to say, I’m starting to miss the shows where is just “YOU” and “a little bit of me”. I realize you are addressing the royal Vayner-nation but I love the intimacy that comes with your show, my Mac and my glass of wine. Cheers!

cannot wait for WLTV NYC week to be over. good concept, but would have made more sense (to me) to have people that are actually interested in wine at the table.

    just sayin…

So, moving to a new place and not having internet really puts a damper on watching your show GV. I have to catch up on all the NYC week shows, but this one seemed like it was a fun time even though the wines blew. Keep it up! QOTD: I work with kids at a camp for a living. I’m in the middle of hosting a week-long leadership camp for 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders. I teach kids how to be their best selves. That’s probably the best thing I do. Keep it real.
