Good Beer TV episode Gary & Brett!
I started with wine years ago then in 1985, met a friend in the beer/publican business with 50 beers on tap, it was her passion for microbrewed beers that also became mine.
After finding your show and enjoying your relaxed but serious attitude about wine, I’ve started coming back to wine. Enjoying Rosemblum 2003 Rockpile Syrah & 2004 Maggies Reserve Zin.

BUT I have to take umberage with your statement about, only the seasonal nature of wines.
All of us know in the beer world, one of the most pleasing things about beer is the anticipation of seasonal beers/ales, that we can look forward to all year round.

Jan.- Feb.: Barleywines
March – May: Bock & Miabock
June – Aug.: Wheat beer/Pilsner/Kölsch style beers

Also more interesting/inventive beers -Pumpkin Ale for Thanksgiving,
Fruit beers for summer refreshers-Watermelon Wheat-Raspberry Brown,Coconut Porter. IPA, Double IPA, ESB, Rye Beers.
And that’s not even touching on the renewed interest in the complex flavors of Belgium beer styles made here and abroad.
Not to mention some beers pair better with cheese and chocolate then most wines.

Not all of us Beer Geeks drink the same bland beer day after day, most of us actually enjoy the vast amounts of different flavor profiles that the microbrew revolution has brought us the last 20 years. Visit your local brewpub and discover a world of complex flavors, you may not have known existed.
Well all that said, I guess I am a lurker know more.

QOTD: I’d have a beer with my Dad who passed away in March of ’04. The last game we watched together was the Pats Superbowl. He was a huge Sox fan who didn’t see them take it in ’04. Man, I feel like crying. I miss him.

MY DAD

My dad! He clipped out a newspaper article about the rarest beer in the world – The abbey of Saint Sixtus of Westvleteren. So, me being a person who doesn’t think that anything in not for sale; found it on EBAY! Bought a 6-pack for $40 (outrageous for the common man!). Was able to share a couple of bottles with him; and, man, was it GOOD!!!!

I still have 3 bottles, saving them for a special occassion!

But, seriously, you should do a show on Belgium beers! There are plenty of good ones out there and affordable to do a show!

I think that craft beers are starting to get their seats at the ‘white table cloth’ restaurants; not in the numbers that I’d like to see, but they’re getting more and more prominent.

I participated in a “Head to Head” beer vs. wine dinner at a local brewery. I chose and poured the wines and the Brew Master chose the beers. 7 courses with 7 beers pitted against 7 wines. The diners had to choose their favorite for each course. I was bit disappointed because the beers won by a small margin, but I did realize that I was in a brewery and many of the attendees were beer fanatics.

My both my Grand fathers, because I love and miss them

A little late in reply but… QOTD: My mom who passed away in 1995. She loved beer but I would probably share a nice pint of a nice pale ale. She sure loved Pabst (yuk).

Loved this episode for many reasons.. love a great beer, love the collaboration, love the variety, and of course… love my Pats 😉 !

A nice show, Gary & Brett…always glad when seeing people who know there’s beer (type Bud) and BEER (the real stuff) and who can appreciate it! My favourite beer is Belgian of course, the Rochefort 8 or 10, but over Summer I prefer a “bolleke” (=de koninck) or a “palmke”…as I live in Spain, I buy some crates of these beers in Belgium and take them with me when driving back after Xmas.
Just a comment for Brett : the lambiks are made in Brussels and west of it, in Pajottenland (Cantillon is almost in the centre of Brussels, but some nice ones like Boon and Drie Fonteinen are in Pajottenland-region…not south of Brussels, as you said.
QOTD : with Larry Bird or Karl Malone (being a great basketball fan), with Stevie Winwood or Warren Haynes (over a nice music conversation) or just with anyone who can enjoy beer!

Good show, but its hard for me to get into beer. I just dont think it will ever be my thing. QOTD: A friend of mine from Indiana. We’d just kick back and pass the time telling weird stories and whatever nonsense snapped into our heads.

excellent show, would love to see more beer, beerlibrary anyone, aslo, one small correction, altho dipas are boiled long the fermentation process is the same, ie no double fermentation, unless you count bottle conditioning and not all dipas are bottle conditions. but gary please more beer show.

Love the epp, glad I found it in the archive. My beer sharing person would be The Apostle Paul, Julius Ceasar, Benjamin Franklin..or my ol’ pops after he’s had a great round of golf.

Hi Gary, So glad to see you doing Beer. At a tasting last Fall in Minnesota I met this Belgian Guy, Johnny, who is an incredible storyteller. He introduced all these delicious tasting Belgian Beers-Piraat, Gulden Draak, Bruegel, Borem, Troubadour and Wittekerke to name a few. They call them Living Beers. The flavors are explosive.

I think you should sit down with this Johnny. Talk about PASSION, he’s insane, just like you. He tells about recipes from Monks of 1295. Thanks for doing beer. Would love to see Beer Library. Cheers. Joseph

I love beer so much, and i love wine. Beer is my wife that i come home to and wine is the girlfriend i screw around with on the side, just becuase she is so hot and crazy. Anyway leaving a comment on this old episode solely for the QOTD

QOTD: My grandfather, he was my second father and an avid beer drinker. I never got to have a cold one with the guy. I wish i could.
