great info on Shiraz! interesting wines for sure, still good value in australia about 10 years later. Great wines coming out of Margaret River, Coonawarra, etc…. love australian wines, as long as they have enough acidity to preserve the freshness and keep the oak in check.
I love watching these old episodes. You look so young and are so calm (trying to be responsible perhaps?). Was this back in the days before Australian Shiraz became the symbol for all thigns wrong with the wine world. I’m also a bis suspect on where you got the big clam that Bareback Shiraz is a massively popular wine in Australia coems from; I’ve never heard of it!

I think the opening was the longest zoom-in in WLTV history. I was sitting here thinking “He’ll be in the frame aannnyyy second now…”
Liked the shiraz talk, I may need to go back and revisit that wine. It’s been a minute since I’ve had any.

Agreed on the Yellow Tail Gary. Extremely poor wine. Tastes like Fanta ; )

Gary, were u twittering your thumbs when the show first started..well the paper attemptingto show the color of the wine was a bust..Aussie Shiraz, great value fruit bombs that have their place as a mid week wine for the low end ones and a weekend special with the high end ones. winelx.com
It is fun to rewatch those show now that we've watched more than 800 of your shows. I am sure for you it's like watching the wedding album and say…wow we were young, no kids, just bought the first car, etc…
I Hate Yellow Tail, There now i've said it! Rockbare makes a wine called Barossa Babe, check that out Vayniacs. It's very good, from 150 year old vines!!! Very Big!

I love watching the old shows..all i can say is that i thank God you came out of your shell Gary..you are some much more entertaining now. Its like watching my daughter grow (tear).
Shiraz and Zinfandel are two of my favorite varietals. It’s all about Barossa Valley for Shiraz!

Not a huge fan of AUstralian wines because they’re so sweet in general but I feel its just a question of me trying more of them to find the ones with enough acidity and a little less sugar an vanilla.
Good show, you are clearly more expressive now and more fun to watch but you were still very good back then.

Entre the jets!!!! This is a interesting show that i see your personalty starting to emerge. Wow brandon is truely the OG Vayniac…. wow!
This is the first show where we get a hint of what GV is capable of. He starts to come out of his shell with the tasting notes and there are a few prototype grins and grimaces to the camera. Eric a bit shaky behind the camera but all in all, things starting to take shape.
Plural form of Shiraz… Shirazes? 😉 It’s amazing how quickly Yellow Tail was able to catapult into the market like it did…
