Gary, Regarding the free shipping–what about people like me who pick up their orders? Why not offer a bottle discount code for those who pick up? (It was worth a shot to request).

BTW, Dede and I had the ’03 Meerendal Shiraz (per a WL sales email on 10/4). This is normally a $24 bottle–on sale for $8. I bought 6, now I wish I bought a case!! It was a terrific bottle..thanks!!

It’s Sunday night and I’m reading the WineLibrary website to put together my free-shipping order. I was a Dolphins fan during the Griese/Csonka and Marino eras, but the fins are just not that lovable anymore, so a loss during a hapless season for the gratis shipping is well worth it. And thinking back to the ’80’s, aren’t you glad Broadway Joe isn’t sporting the curly, afro-like hair implants that he use to?

It’s refreshing to hear about an inexpensive Zin perform so well. I may purchase a bottle of something NOT from Italy.

GaryV — Some constructive criticism… WineLibrary.com really needs to step up the search functionality. The drop-down list is really, really, really difficult to navigate. For instance, I’d love to see additional boxes like ‘wine type’ (red, white, rose, sparkling, dessert, etc). Then region, then country, then varietal, and maybe even producer. There has got to be a ton of meta-data for each bottle you sell, please give us the opportunity to search on it. Any plans in the works for a more robust search function?
    Thanks,
    Tim

Oh, by the way. Nice prediction, Gary- you were quite close picking 23-17.

TimF- I agree with the search feature. It is very nice when you are looking for France->Sancerre->White, but if you are just looking for a Savignon Blanc, it is not as easy.

Kahuna- your comments sting, but the truth hurts.

Quite a day to be a sports fan in NY (as well as Rutgers, Shawn!).

Kudos to the Jets and the Mets (even though Gary’s a Yankees fan). Pretty close on the prediction Gary. My Lions finally won a game. Just in time to build up for that showdown with the Jets this Sunday!

How about my Tigers sweeping the As?!!!

    I second Tim F.

I’d like to see multiple dropdown menus to be able to search France-Cote du Rhone-syrah-or something like that.

Also, titles like Other Italy or Other France are very confusing.
Another feature that I’d like to see are tabs “Best of Tanzer” or â??Best of RPâ? and of course Best of GVâ?.

hahahaha…browning nagle and Todd Marinovich…I forgot both of those names, you can add David Klinger and Akili Smith to that list

free shipping will only slightly numb the pain of another buffalo loss, its going to be a long year

Kahuna: I was spending a lot of time on the WL site last night and came across it. A half bottle runs in the neighborhood of $16 and has a high score from RP. Is it too good to be true?

Ok Football fans…..a defense is rated by more than one year. Injuries, schedules, and other factors evan themselves after a few years. The real #1 defense is the Bucs…yes the Bucs. [The Bears, Ravens, and Panthers follow after.] Top 10 defense for 10 years!! Three years they were #1. They were #3 when they won the super bowl in 02′. Yeh I know…..they are hurting this year, but if you look at this week, with some key injuries [held Cincinati to 13 points and I believe less than 200 yards to a good offense] You will see signs a the real defense….they might not make it to top five this year but, by the end of the year they will be highly respected.

    Book….Beaches by Patterson….It’s pretty good

  • TimF, nice find! I just added three to my cart…which now tops $500. That’s a big ouch for me, but I’m celebrating the Jets last win of the season. 😉

Yes I have tried it, loved it, went back and bought 2 more bottles.

I’m not sure if everyone understands what this wine is. Pedro Ximenez is the grape, Alvear is the winery, Solera 1927 is a â??heirloomâ? Montilla wine produced according to traditional methods. The solera started in 1927 and is in it’s final bottling. Soleras are all about blending. The blending series works like this: A portion of the youngest vintage is mixed into the cask containing the previous vintage; then a fraction of this blended cask is mixed into the previous vintage, and so on. So there could be as many as 80 some odd vintages in the Solera 1927. This blending sequence is VERY simplified as other factors come into play in the blending from seperate cask lines and types.

Lets just say the stuff is like syrup, raisins and prunes and wow!
