Was at the store Saturday and tasted the Bracco Chianti, a definite PAAASSSS, especially at its price. There’s a lot better Chiantis out there for less. But I was glad to see you got in the ’01 Wolf Blass Black Label Cab Sauv/Shiraz. One of the best wines at the tasting. Pricey but what a great wine, had to buy.

Just finished watching this ep., and to answer the QOD, I just finished reading “Wild: The Jack Nicholson Biography” and moved on to “The Other Hollywood” – a retelling of the evolution of the porn industry told through interviews of the people that were there. 🙂

Just finished: Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer (young author who lives in Brooklyn).

This is his second book, which I enjoyed even more than the first one-Everything Is Illuminated. Movie based on the first book is excellent too.

I highly recommend both books as well as a movie. One more suggestion:
One should see the movie before reading Everything Is Illuminated.

Let me address a topic that is seldom discussed and usually ignored, the post-finish effect. These are the gustatory-olfactory notes that you experience after the finish subsides, deep in the posterior palate (the glottis area, where the nasopharinix meets the oral pharynx); the “back” of the throat. It is usually experienced with very well made wine, with a complexity that can hold up against the acid neutralizing environment of the throat. It is hard to say if this is taste or smell; olfaction or gustation. It usually strikes suddenly and quit pleasantly when least expected. Usually several seconds or even minutes after the Finish ends. And it can last for minutes or a half hour after sampling a wine. The sensation it produces is usually of a “Hard” quality; notes of dark wood and earth, akin to heavy base notes in music.
