QOD: Favorite $10 wine: Manage a Trois Red from Folie a Deux.

  • Jason R.

I know I am going to get crap on this one – But back to my go to. Its the BV Napa for $12 bones. I have enjoyed several vintages, but all seem to be much better off with 4-8 years on them. I like the Dusty fruit – Its a chepo classic for me contrary to what everyone else says.

    Good luck in Paris GV.

QOD: For me, it is the Gabbiano Chianti Classico Riserva. Gabbiano also makes a non-riserva for around $8 but the Riserva is definitely the way to go for $13. For all of you chianti lovers, it is a must buy. I have been drinking the 2003 recently but the 2004 is also available.

  • Nice…I love’s me my value wines. I’ll seek out both of those. Currently, one of my favorite 10-15$ wine is Avalon Napa Valley Cab. As Gary would say, “It doesn’t change my life…”, but when I don’t have time to think and I need an extra bottle, it’s a pretty good buy. Avalon also makes a cheaper cab (California, rather than Napa Valley), and that’s a little fake tasting.

OK…I’m gonna finish lunch now. See you later,
    GO BEARS!!

QOD Hijos De Juan Gil good wine for $12

Thanks for the early WLTV. Have a good trip.

Love the quick but concise episode. It’s great to see that you can buy a solid bottle of wine these days for under $25. Is wine Library really the only place selling these wines?

Gary, you and the Model could go places, big places.

This is Rick the Model signing off!

QOD: If I could get it, I would be drinking ’04 Bodegas Arrocal Ribera del Duero. Love that stuff. Thanks for introducing it to us, Gary.
Does anyone know an online wine store that still has it?
    Gary,
Thanks for the episodes. AND the “gift basket” email. I have already ordered some for Christmas gifts.
What are you bringing us back from Paris?

    QOD:

White : Vavasour Sauvignon Blanc 2005 $12.99 – if you like the mouth puckering explosive fruit of New Zealand SB this is the best of the ones I have tasted recently, loads of lemon/lime … up there with the Kennedy Point but that is just out of the $10-$13 range for the QOD and more grapefruit than lemon/lime

Red : Can Blau Montsant 2004 $12.99 … great big fruit flavor with some nice hints of complexity but none of the harse edges that some big young spanish reds have and it drinks well right out of the bottle so good for the last minute decisions
