i just started getting into wine a few months ago by a friend, he also showed me winelibrary.com and it drive him nuts that i'm always on your site researching and buying wine. i love watching your past episodes while trying the wine at home. i have gotten my whole family more into wine by giving tastings of wines they never heard of. watching this episode gave me a better sense of how to be tasting the wine and going to be trying this experiment…… some of them. thank you for making it easy for me to explore my new passion and hobby.

p.s. cloves were once used as a nova cane for tooth aches and arrowroot it a thickening agent and isn't suppose to have flavor haha

  • Matthew

Did I see grapefruits? New Zealand SB…. I am not sure I saw coffee, vanilla or plums, but if I missed, I will go back. Petrol would be good, sort of – maybe not. Cardboard… pencil shavings/graphite…grass….a few others I am thinking of…great shows thanks…

I would love for you to further your taste profile down at Virginia tech ๐Ÿ™‚ come visit! john boyer is awesome ๐Ÿ™‚

  • blueberry is always a blast.
weirdly i think lindenberry is a distinction for anyone.
and they have the crepes at ihop.
and there's upscale jams and jellies, obviously.
    pickled tomatoes.
not hard to get, but a message that is strong like lindenberry.
whether they are prominent notes in wine and perfume, they create lines of demarcation that later serve.
    opinions are like A@#holes.
    mine included.
also, real cacao, not even the upscale chocolate bars which still have dutch process, which changes the taste from cocoa to cacao.
    dig it.

  • cuteyyi

Gary! you are my new idol!

  • Knud… Wine=Newbie…

Gary you are the best!!! I'm just getting turned on to the wine world and YOU are the guide i've been looking for. Great energy! Great information! and you even bring my other hero Jim Cramer on!?!?!? I'm hooked… I'm in the neighborhood of rock hard (in a hetero getting into the wine scene way) to watch all your past episodes and expand my knowledge… Please keep the great episodes coming. You're the shit!!!!

  • Jennifer

I just found you because of Mutineer Magazine and LOVE your episodes. Especially this one to help me improve my palate. A couple of friends of mine are going to have a wine tasting with these foods… because it seems fun ๐Ÿ™‚ Do you have a list of the foods that you did and ones that were recommended to add? I am making one of this list but don't know all the other recommendations you received. Thank you

  • LOVE …. wait for it …. IT!!!!!!!!

  • corkscrew

    Interesting episode..nice eating dirt… QOTD-try allot of different foods… http://www.winelx.com

  • Mike Mahoney

I have watched alot of your newer stuff, but this one was CLASSIC! (literally and figuratively). If this was the first video anyone saw of you, they might think you were the Rainman of palates! Keep crankin' 'em out man.

I just heard a rumor the JETS are going to be on HBO Hard Knocks. UH OH! Get your Cap'n and Reisling ready!

  • Betty

Who are you?! I just saw you tasted your SOX!!!

  • George

Gary try some pure white stevia extract!

  • I'm 18, and really more interested in watching your show as a medium for changing the world. Don't really think I'll ever drink alcohol on a regular basis, but you have inspired me to feel my palate out. You definitely bring the thunder!!!

  • Geo

    Amazing, keep the thunder coming!!!

  • BryMcK

Nice work Gary. Loved every moment of that video. And that's from someone who doesn't really like wine. Or more accurately I don't like any of the wines I have tried.

  • David G

Wow! After those last two minutes, I now know you are an expert in this field! I have been blessed living in CA and have ready access to all the fruits and nuts – that's all we have here anyway! Thank you for all your work – I really appreciate your show and now routinely look to try wines outside my normal few. I found a French Chardonnay just yesterday and hope to see what a Chard is like without the normal Oak Monster.

  • Tanya

OMG! Jalapeno Pepper, & dirt. You are a brave soul. I enjoyed the video. My friend mentioned your site. Quite interesting topics, I am tuning in to see what crazy thing you will do next. By the way, what is your favorite wine? What region and Why?

  • sethsethy

wow this is inspiring!ยก! i wanna do this with a whole bunch of people haha.

  • waynegusmanjr

Brah, this is my all time fav ! ! ! I was feeling a lill down and by the end I was rolling in laughter. Thanx, you are a true inspiration ! ! !

  • You kick so much ass! I'm trying to watch the recent shows and the favorites to catch up, and this one was awesome!

  • Tholmz

GV, you are nuts and I love it. I am still getting caught up on past episodes after finding you earlier this year, this one is insane. I drank the Three Miners last night that I got off of Cindy…and was not a fan. But couldn't tell all that I was tasting so I watched this one to get me pumped to do my own palette exploration. I think I will leave out the jalepenos though….

  • alexlinsley

Awesome Gary. Love the episode. Am going to introduce some of this crazy at the beginners tastings I run ๐Ÿ™‚
    Big Respect, Alex

  • Great video! We wouldnt pair our chocolate with dirt, but we have made dark chocolate goji, cranberry, ginger, etc… Located in Northern New Jersey! Keep up the good work! Would love to meet you and/or have you sample what chocolate 'should' taste like ๐Ÿ™‚ -Wendy @EnjouChocolat
