Wall Street Journal article brought me – and I love it. I have tried to bring everyone I know who loves wine (that’s not many in Pittsburgh), but I guess they have been too busy.

I brought a DC wine store owner – and I bet he gets hooked.

  • jbreker

Gary, you have fans in Canada? 🙂

QOTD: I found WLTV via cork’d and referred my tasting buddies to WLTV.

Great episode, and thanks for the Canadian shout-out!

Ok show since I try to avoid those garbage wines since I have tried them years ago. Never again but I thought the SA ringer would do well. Now, let’s do an entire show on SA wines?

QOD: How did I find out about WLTV? The same way Eric finds out about sites. I surf alot, found your site, ordered some wines and they came the next day which is always shocking how you do that and then started watching your reviews.

Who have I referred? All of my wine geeks at work and my foodie group.

And yes, if i see a great site, I tell everyone I know who I think may find it interesting.

Go Colts and good luck to the Jets. Spank Tom Brady.

Gary, when in Providence, you want to visit the Italian section known as Federal Hill. The main drag is Atwells Avenue. I’m there about once a month. My favorite restaurant is Cassarino’s. Check it out.

The Hype Machine is a nice mp3 blog aggregator, but there are lots of good individual music blogs. E-mail me if you’d like some recommendations.

  • Large Format Fever

Columbia Crest Two Vines, roughly 7ish dollars. It is great for 7 bucks. But please decant…for a long time!!! Definatly not as much oak as Grand Estate and a bit one dimensional, but for 7 dollars is pretty good wine. Consider it for parties!

I was introduced to WineLibrary TV by the MSNBC special on MSN homepage. I have told everyone I know that drinks wine. However, that is my problem. I know 6 people who also enjoy wine. Maybe that has something to do with being from the midwest (Iowa) and living in Hawai’i (5 months). I love the idea from yesterday though about getting a tasting group together, especially to offset some of the cost of trying some higher end wines. Right now I need to find everyday wines, so I often look to other countries (Australia, Chile, New Zealand, Argentina, South Africa) as they seem to be the best bargains. Can’t wait for tomorrow’s episode!

Great episode, Gary. You’ve been on a roll lately. Solid, well-informed, very smart efforts recently. The Ridge episode was excellent. Of today’s work I especially enjoyed the shout out to Cote Rotie and Hermitage.

QOTD – I heard about WLTV from Wine Spectator and have reffered two of my other wino friends who are serial lurkers….you know who you are Jon and Matt. Throw Gary a bone!!!!
Great episode….I know that I should put this in the forums but here is an idea for a show. How about tasting some wines from the Finger Lake region. I have travelled through there and found that they have some nice wines.

Gary, best show ever. What a great idea for a show, heh heh.

I agree, for this price range, I’d rather have a Tres Picos, Castano Solanero, or a Woot Monkey Prize, but I don’t always have those on hand. I usually have a couple of bottles of the Columbia Crest around. I agree it’s a little heavy on the oak, but it’s pretty decent as a daily dinner wine.

Dan C, thanks for the suggestions. I’ve tried some of them (I really didn’t like the Di Majo), but I’ll definitely look for some of the others. I guess I’m hesitant to try random $10 wines, but maybe I’m better off risking getting some losers than defaulting to a mediocre fallback.

QOTD: I was referred here by Woot Wine. I referred one friend that I know is into wine, but I don’t know that many other people who are really “into” wine. I have some other friends who drink wine, but they’re happy with Kendall Jackson chard.

I found wltv link on wine.woot – saw Gary’s video on Monkey Prize – I’ve been hooked every since.

I’ve email all my co-workers, my friends and family wltv link.

I’m just sorry I wasn’t here from the very beginning. I’m going to a wine tasting at the end of the month locally here on Long Island, and I’m hyped. 🙂

QOTD #1: Read about Wine Library in the recent WSJ article on ordering via the Web. Joined mailing list and saw link to WLTV.
QOTD #2: My brother and I watched a few episodes together over the holidays. Note to Gary: he is a “Stone Cold” Steve Austin fan! He’s probably lurking out there.

IMHO, the best QPR wines in the $10 and under category are coming out of Spain. Two that I have tried that I can highly recommend are the Altos de Luzon, Jumillia and the 2004 Senorio de Barahonda Monastrell Tinto, Yecla.

QOTD…1. Found WLTV searching for Bob Egelhoff wines. That was about 90 episodes ago. 2. I tell everyone.

Hey Gary, the wines you tasted today, excluding the Wolf Trap, did you get those from my mother-in-law’s pantry? They were right next to the Rice Krispies, Creme Soda and apricot preserves. I thought she was saving them for a special occasion. Oh well, that’s ok, I think she has some Bartles and James as a back up.

….Diversity is a good thing. Keep it up.

Very useful episode. First, these wines are easy to find. Also, these are wines I have tasted so now I know where my nose and palate is compare to you.

QOD: I searched on google about wine and found this video blog.

QOTD part 1: I saw the add the day I got the Wine Spectator Top 100 issue in the mail. Thought it looked like a great idea. When I got to the site I couldn’t believe it was FREE to watch all the tasting and info.

QOTD part 2: I’ve told my two wine buddies about it and emailed links to some of my fav episodes. And my wife knows I’m way into it.

A great time for me to discover WLTV since I recently bought a 500 bottle cellar that MUST BE FILLED

    1) found a link from wine.woot. Havent been back to wine.woot since. JK. Wine.woot is ok beside the fact that all the college kids who frequent the site complain they arent selling Franzia.
    2) told my bro about the blog. He is begining to take wine seriously (also a college student).
    3) Third part of the question I forgot what you asked…and/or was confused.

First post. Amazing site. Favorite Episode (So Far): Building your Pallet (phenomenal!!!)

    Cheers.

QOD #1- Found WL googling info about primitivo after picking a bottle up in a bargain bin and enjoying it way more than the $8 price would suggest. Saw the link to TV around episode 17, been watching since. #2 – local wine geeks and a few wine drinkers around the country via e-mail. My wife is well aware and doesn’t care for the vlog. C’est la vie.

I was a WL customer before there was a WLTV. Since it started, I have referred anyone I have come across that has an interest in wine. WLTV has shown me that there is NEVER any need to drink boring wine regardless of the price point. The community that has developed around it is a bonus. I even sort of started liking the Jets…a little. They’ve got a great coach. And the G-men suck so why not?

    QOTD:

    1) I found it through Democracy Player, which I actually think kind of sucks now, but was a cool idea and I used it for a while.

    2) I turned a few folks on by forwarding the videos I’ve made to friends/family members, but I don’t think I’ve created any actual Vayniacs yet… 🙁
