Someone is going to take home one expensive plastic cup. I just put up $300 to send $600 to a deserving local charity (to whom I recently wrote a check for several times that amount), and I was outbid in a heartbeat. 9 days to go, and this could get crazy.

I hope the money for the cup goes to a good charity. Way to go, Gary. You’re now an official fundraiser. I’ve been watching you for awhile now and have finally decided to de-lurk and make a post. I don’t know enough about wine to know if your comments about the wines are “right on” or not, but you’re wonderfully funny and a breath of fresh air for the stuffy wine world, plus you bring up some interesting issues about drinking wine. So you’re certainly worth watching for that alone. Keep up the fun!!!

Gary … To answer the question about letting viewers know which wines you’d be tasting during an episode, I’m surprised you didn’t point out the two Gary V. “Six Packs”. The wines included in those offers were announced well in advance of their associated tasting episodes. Also, anyone can pick an episode from the past, grab the wines in the show notes, then watch the episode once they’ve got the wines for themselves.

Also, any chance you’re going to release year one on DVD?

By the way, I am going to give Gary the benefit of the doubt and assume that the proceeds of the cup sale go to charity. I am positive he is going to do that.

The Ercavio is everywhere, by which I mean I can actually find it out here in the sticks. I like it, but if I’d have been blindfolded I would never have guessed it to be tempranillo.

This is an Aussie style burger. Go to just about any burger place in Australia and you can order this.
It includes all the usual stuff – the meat of course, plus grilled onions, lettuce, tomato, cheese, tomato sauce (ketchup). But what makes it special – a fried egg and some beetroot (beets) slapped on there. Also a slice of pineapple depending where in Aus you happen to be. Most yanks I have told about this burger have turned up their noses at the idea but those who tried it enjoyed it. So go ahead and try it. Tell me it isn’t awesome. If beets scare you, try it with just an egg. You won’t be sorry.

Just wanted to thank you for the Wolf Trap – had it last night and loved it!! Also, I now quote your scores to my customers when they ask about certain wines. Their ears always perk up….and I have to be honest, I don’t think they know who you are. Anyways….QOTD – A big fat mid-rare burg with mayo and tons of melty creamy, heart stopping cheese….mushrooms, why not? But for overall value I have to go with the double cheesburger from McDonalds. All that greasy goodness for $.99 come on! I score it an 87+.
