QOD, I guess I’d go with whatever you consider to be “comfort wines”. For me, that means something old world and mellow, not too much oak or sugar. Maybe a Chianti or a Barbera.

Well the good news is that I heard there were at least six or eight first-time lurkers watching today’s episode. They heard about it recently on the E-bob forum and all were sitting in straight-back chairs and wearing coat and tie. They all agreed that, despite the over-the-top exuberance, the program was fundamentally solid and well-conducted, and they can’t wait for the next episode.

I kind of look at it like this, a good wine isn’t just in the taste — it’s in the nose, the color, the temperature, the glass, maybe the food you’re having with it. And a “sad” wine isn’t just in the bottle you pick. It’s in the music, the room, the book or movie or person or wall you’re contemplating.

I like to be all alone, in my lazyboy with the lights low and Billie Holiday singing to me. In my hand, the first bottle of red I pick out of the cellar, swirling slowly in the biggest, snootiest glass I’ve got.

When I’m sad I go for W. L. Weller’s Centennial Bourbon, you can’t beat it.

Wow, Gary, I’m surprised you didn’t dim the lights, swap out the red table cloth with a black one and have church organ music playing in the background in a minor key.

Come on, try singing the famous lyrics to the great Monty Python movie “Life of Brian”…..Always look on the bright side of life……and it’ll hopefully put a smile back on your face. Just think, they were singing it while nailed to the cross!

QOD: like some of the other folks mentioned, if i’m not in the best of moods. i’ll pass on wine and go for scotch or bourbon. (I’ve been on a woodford reserve kick for a while now).

sorry about the jets man… I’ve grown up with the Vancouver Canucks and the Seattle Seahawks – I’m used to teams getting knocked out, so I feel for ya’.

when I’m sad? the best wine I can lay my hands on… one that reminds me there are good things in life.

… and like Justin said, maybe a Champagne – it the Disneyland of booze: the happiest drink on earth. 🙂

Hey, Dude, it’s not the end of the world. The fans of 31 NFL teams are disappointed every season. When I’m feeling down, I like to drink 1999 Grant Burge Holy Trinity. Always makes me feel better. Since I drank my last bottle, I feel sad about that. Gotta find something else to replace it. I think I’ll start today.

HAHAHAHAHAHAH – Glad your down in the dumps- If I could I would hit you on the head with a bottle of Ridge Lytton Springs just to keep you down in the dumps. Man, that was rough. Now I’m sad. QOTD – when I’m sad I reach for a late bottled vintage port – Taylor Fladgate or Fonseca. If I’m REALLY sad, I get some gorgonzola to go with it.

Ah, If you didn’t feel so crappy after they lost, you wouldn’t feel so damn good when they won. Don’t the Jets have like $28 million in cap room and three very high draft picks? No tears for Gang Green from me! Get ready for a 10-6 team’s schedule next year!
