Impressive for the wine to hold up…QOTD-long time ago, maybe being a 90 day wonder in Mgmt Trainee program in the Banking business and becoming a Asst Bank Manager…glad I am out of that business… http://www.winelx.com

    VERY nice episode.

QOD: 1982…I was in the 2nd grade, but it was the last year for Archie Manning and the Saints.

Oh, also in Saints history in 1982

    Saints 10
    Bears 0

    – Ben Lee on the MS Gulf Coast

The episodes lose something when I know your not doing them that day, just a mental thing on my part i’m sure. Good episode none the less…

QOTD: We had a 1982 Datsun 210 hatchback that was pretty cool…(not really)

  • Spitfire

QOD, part 2: Oh, GI Joe and Star Wars toys, along with Dukes of Hazzard. Big League Chew at my little league games

QOTD – My favorite thing about 1982 has got to be July 18, 1982 …it was my wedding day! Coming up on 25 years and still going strong! I wish I had thought ahead to put a nice bottle of wine aside to have on our 25th anniversary!

Reminds me of a story …wife wakes up in the middle of the night to find her husband missing from the bed. She goes downstairs and finds him sitting in the kitchen chair and crying like a baby. “What’s the matter honey”, she says. He replies, “Do you remember when we were young, you were 16 and I was 19, your father caught us going at it in the back of the car. He pointed the shotgun at me and said either I marry you or go to prison for the next 25 years.” “Yes, I remember”, she said. “Well I would have just gotten out today!”, he replied.

Locker room armpit and Dunkin’ Donuts coffee? That’s redundant.

    QOD:

Best event in ’82? In a rare moment of poor judgement, my wife said yes and we got married. 25 years in June.

Worst event in ’82? John Belushi died.

I L-O-V-E-D the ’80’s. 1982??? Where does one start….Cold War still brewing…I was only five years old but remember it well. I remember for Xmas I got a handheld Panasonic cassette tape player and a MJ Thriller tape. Loved it. Too bad I didn’t have the foresight to ask for some wine 🙂

Anyways, keep up the great shows GV. Still waiting for some Canadian (other than Ice varieties) wines to be on the show.

QOD: My absolute favorite part of 1982 was being conceived. I am a huge fan of that.

I really appreciated the episode. Or, at least it made me feel better about not storing my wines in a perfect, humidity and temperature controlled environment. My coat closet doesn’t let in light, that’s good enough for me. : )

    Gary-
    Great episode!
You are really high scoring today!
    98!
Heat and storage and Bordeaux – all in one!
    Fabulous!
QOD: I was in High School in 1982.
Our little school won the State Marching Band Contest!
Not only that, we have continued to win against bigger schools.
We have won the state championship for 24 consecutive years!
    Bigger is
    NOT
    necessarily better!
    I was 16 in 1982! A very good year!
I like e mojo’s comment! I have to store my wines in interesting places in my house also!
    🙂

Great episode as always GV. It is nice to know that wine really is tough. I do try to take care of my expensive wine but at least I know it can handle a little rough treatment if necessary.

QOTD: I honestly don’t remember much about 1982 seeing that I was 3 but I will give a shout out to Saturday morning cartoons which were the absolute best during the mid-1980’s. Truly a great time to be a kid.

    Great episode Gary

QOTD: my brother was born in 82 (and i was 83) so he’s my favourite thing but to be honest if I ever get my hands on some 82 Mouton – he might have some competition.
Lucking my parents weren’t into wine so didnt buy a case for him to lay down otherwise they would have shelled out big bucks.

    Cheers Gary!

An 1982 Chat Ponet Canet 375ml!.

Gary, doesnâ??t the excellent condition of the cork, the indication that the cork was well sealed and had not leaked or pushed out give us some indication that the bottle had been pretty well stored. The cork was tinted showing that some of the time in the last 22-23 years the bottle had been stored horizontally indicate that conditions had been at least somewhat favorable.

Another interesting note to me is that you didnâ??t mention the fruit aromas and flavors that may have remained. I was also surprised at the way you were shaking the bottle making it impossible to comment on any sediment in the bottle.

Good episode. Conclusive on heat – nope – try again. Hell! We love the effort.

    Memories of 1982
The year my 1972 Datsun 240Z was T-Boned nad totaled by a drunk driver at 10am running a red light. I loved that car.

Gary, you look like you are feeling no pain in that episode. No sediment….lolol…you dumped the bottle so fast how the heck would you ever of known. I have to be honest I don’t see any value in this episode. The only true way to know if there was any difference btwn this and a properly stored 82 Ponet Canet was to taste both side by side.

  • Top 50…that’s pretty good for me…can’t wait to watch the episode!…I’m going to download to my iPod for my flight tomorrow.

QOTD: 1982 kinda sucked… I was a nervous HS freshman, the economy in my home state of MI was in the toilet, and nothing else of much interest happened.

Anyway, thanks for trying the abused wine. I have wondered what kind of result you would get with some heat, and it sounds like wine is indeed tougher than I thought!
