Cab Franc…Sweet! I am not sure about the whole pickle juice and bell pepper thing, but hell, I will give it a shot.

nice….great wines, totally underrated and great QPR….
I have actually seen a few people drink…literally…pickle juice. I’d rather have the wine myself, but to each their own.

Gary- Thanks for another new area and wine. You keep us going.

QOD- 2004 Amancaya Cab/Malbec. It came highly recommended and I decanted for one hour…I’ll try it again at four hours.

PS- We’re off to Miami. Super Bowl!!!

The worst wine was Yellow Tail Shiraz. It was total fake fruit and I poured out the bottle.

    Gary,

Never tried or heard of Bourgeuill, so thanks for the education. I look forward to trying it; I’ll let you know how it turns out. The show was great as usual.

BTW- I am a big Tarheels fan so I remember well how we broke his heart before he arrived in N.Y. He was an underrated player in the NBA though and I agree never had the right supporting cast.

Have a great time at the Super Bowl. GO COLTS.

    GO HEELS!

Friday + Bourgueil + couch + obscure TV tag references = an embarrassment of riches.

So would it be safe to assume ’03 type ripeness in ’05 Loire reds as a general rule?

Speaking of which, when I was in NYC the year before the G&R album came out, I ran into a bootleg 12″ (that’s right, a RECORD!) with Axl’s original demos of “November Rain”, before he had his Elton John transpland and produced it within an inch of its life. Hilarious stuff.

QOD: I’ll stand by my earlier comments on the ’05 McManis Cabernet, but it did get a little better and a little less fake after a few nights in the fridge.

  • BV

Yup, it WAS a great show, all right – your enthusiasm was infectious – like a little kid – I just sat here with a s—eatin’ grin on my face.
Clearly, this was a day where nothing could get you down.
And all that fun came across like a laser.
    There’s a word for that:
    Charisma!

    Have a Super weekend!

  • Gary, Ewing never stepped into the lead role as he should have. He had a good supporting cast, and Mason, Starks and Oakly needed some formal leadership.

    He is not under-rated.

Best description of wine yet– by far — i have ever heard: “Nice pipe, firm handshake.”

I love it. BTW, the wife just shook her head and frowned as she saw me with my bottle, glass and english cheddar chuckling at the internet…
